He had help in Knightfall, even before he broke out all the criminals in Arkham with his bazooka. After Batman was drained, he then knew who he was, and went to the manor to break his back.

So yes, he broke his back by himself, but he had help with the breakout, and of course, had help with draining Batman with all of Arkhams inmates.

He wasn't alone, but he was the leader.

It seems like there are a few who think Ra's returning would be awesome. I think it would be a slap in the face to Batman Begins. Just the same as Sandman being the one who actually killed Uncle Ben. After asking the audience to invest in a certain plot point, the writers pull the rug out from underneath you. This isn't a twist, it's lazy writing. But you know what, I wasn't too sure about Heath Ledger's debut picture as the joker. What do I know?

To clarify; I'd still consider that working alone in terms of motivation and ideas, as the others are under his command.

I know he gets involved with the LoS later on in the comics, but he starts off as one man with a plan, and that's what I'd like to see in this movie.

Well, I know that he's worked with the LOS, but from what I've read, Bane usually likes to do stuff on his own, especially in Knightfall. It wouldn't be an enormous problem, as I'm sure Nolan would handle it well, but the point still stands that Ra's is not a title, a notion that some people have invented.

You're right, in Knightfall he is, but aside from the LoS he also was in the gang Secret Six and worked with Lex Luthor and Batman to name a few. I'm just intrigued by the part of his history where he is made the heir to the LoS

I don't want Ra's to be the villian, but seeing Bane as his successor, I wouldn't mind.

Because Bane is an independent character. Taking his independence away from him and making him a member of the LOS removes a key part of his character. And Ra's never, ever said that his legend would carry on. That's a notion created by rabid fanboys trying to find some morsel of "immortality" in Ra's.

You know these moviews owe nothing to the comics . Were Henri Ducard and Ras the same person in the books ? If Nolan feels the best story here is to tie Bawne down with LOS he will . I am not saying he will but to outright dismiss it at this point is just as silly . We know nothing . My guess is Talia and Los will play a part here

It's in the Bane of the Demon storyline. I think it was a four...maybe a five book series. It's pretty good, but Batman isn't in it at all. It's basically Talia, Bane, Ras, and the LOS. Bane crosses paths with Talia, and she captures him, while Ra's notices Bane's skills, and turns him into his right hand man/body guard.

It's been YEARS since I've read it. I may need to dust them off, and give it another read.

To say the movies "owe nothing to the comics" is foolish. The comics are the source material. But, I agree with what you're trying to say: Nolan is not bound solely by what has been done in the comics.

It was one of those things that I thought was a weird change, but having debated the Nolan movies for so long, it now sounds weird going back the other way.

I always thought both sounded weird. But what was weirder, I tend to remember Nolan saying "Shadows" seemed more plausible/sounded better than "Assassins."

I was at the logic. But - to each his own.

IIRC, the Neeson casting didn't really originate from Variety. Didn't it come from Hitfix?

Not sure. But isn't this old news? Neeson was set to portray Ra's in a small role in the upcoming film.

I agree with you. That's why when I purposed a possible flash back scene a lot was adjusted from the actual comic story line. Like Ra's imprisoning a young Bane for his fathers crime, as well as training him and supplying The Venom compound from the Lazarus pits pools. Taking all know comic items and changing them to fit the narrative. I personally like the idea more and more to the point I think I'll create my own comic book based on the story. On a side note, I think the fight between Batman and Bane is in the basement of Arkham, where the Scarecrow took Rachel to show he was contaminating the water supply.

I don't think it will be in the same context as them being able to bring people back from the dead, but could it be a liquid that has natural properties that the LoS exploits to create the venom compound.

Well apparently Superman exists in the same universe as Nolan's Batman, so...it wouldn't be that farfetched. I think it would just be a matter of it not sounding dumb in the script. Maybe keep it vague or something.

Sure...

I have a hunch Bane will be independant but much like Batman both will be pawns in a grand schemers game.
