Via AMC "The issue is that since theatres only have 1 IMAX screen, if they have the trilogy event, a solo midnight IMAX showing will not be possible. Sorry for any confusion."

So essentially, it appears if we want a guaranteed seat in IMAX at midnight for TDKR, we'll need to buy the marathon ticket. Which is bull****.

Id rather just see DKR in IMAX then to have the Marathon

I was planning on just getting a midnight IMAX ticket, and watching BB & TDK at home before hand, but it appears I'll be in the theater for about 9 hours instead.

Even if they did offer single IMAX tickets, the marathon buyers will be comfortable in their good seats while the single ticket holders get stuck in the front row.

AMC dropped the ball big time on this.

Thats exactly what I was gonna do myself but it seems now I gotta drop 40 bucks to see this marathon unless by some miracle my local IMAX theater doesnt do the marathon. Basically your paying 40 bucks to get a decent seat for DKR but by the time it comes on youll be burnt out.

The AMC situation is a total mess. My friends and I were all ready to buy IMAX tickets, and now we are just in a holding pattern. We can't even buy Marathon IMAX tickets since even THOSE are not available yet.

Will probably just buy a bunch of normal midnight tickets all at once to be safe that we are all in the same theater. No IMAX for us, but AMC will win out. The Marathon WILL sellout, even at $40 a pop.

A big draw on the film is the fact alot of it is shot in IMAX so I (at least the first time in theaters) wanna see it in IMAX and experience it in the way Nolan wants us to see it but that could be all ruined by this marathon. The marathon is a cool idea but it seems is poorly executed it seems

That's what I did. I bought two tickets for a standard 12:01 midnight showing as a bit of insurance in case the IMAX stuff falls through. I guess AMC recognizes how much of a **** up this is and is actually letting people refund tickets at the ticket counter. (If you buy the upgraded IMAX ticket :o)

Same as me and my buddies this whole this sucks. :exp:

I feel the same way. I spend 2 hours on the phone with my closest IMAX theater, only to have them sell-out on me. Then, I decided to just do the AMC LieMax, but that whole situation is screwed. I guess I'll see it in a regular theater first, then hunt down IMAX tickets for the next day.

my local AMC is doing the marathon in regular digital so does that rule out a IMAx marathon?

Any word on how the ticket sales in US are doing? I'm sure they're pretty strong, lol.

word to the wise guys, go to the bathroom BEFORE the marathon getting up might cost you a seat unless you go with friends .

It won't be real, 70MM IMAX so technically, yes it does rule it out. I've read of maybe five AMC theaters having the marathon in 70MM Film.

It's not just AMC, it's Cinemark too.

At 11 a.m. CT, I logged on and just sat there, dumbfounded as NONE of the North Texas IMAX theaters had NO IMAX midnight showings available. In fact, you couldn't even buy a regular ticket until about noon, 1 p.m. CT for AMC.

Then around 2 p.m. CT, the Cinemark tickets went on sale, but only regular no IMAX. It was excruciating. That's when I hopped on the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History (which has an Omni IMAX -- true 70 mm) on a complete hunch...they hadn't advertised they would be doing any TDKR showings AT ALL. And of course, they had tickets up for sale, since 11 a.m.

I swooped up as many as I needed for my friends and now I'm all set while the four to five other IMAXs in DFW STILL haven't released midnight showing tickets yet. It's a shame.

Same here. I went online at 1pm 06/11/2012 and got my tickets. I got it for the IMAX (LieMAX)... but the AMC theater I am going to had three options:

1201am IMAX (LieMax)
1202am DIGITAL
6pm DIGITAL presentation of BB, TDK, TDKR

No imax marathon

I checked 06/12/2012 at 2am and IMAX is sold out. Digital is still available.

And despite being a huge Batman fan, there's no way I can sit in a chair for 7 hours. I'm doing my own marathon at home (Tuesday night BB, Wednesday night TDK, Thursday 1201am Friday morning TDKR)

I just find the term LieMAX so funny.... :woot::oldrazz:

Well I'm glad I got my LieMax tickets... because that showing is SOLD OUT! lol

Damn. How can you figure out if a theaters IMAX is real IMAX or not?
