Are you UK based fans not allowed to join the TV Spot competition or something?

Nope practically all WB/TDKR competitions have been for US citizens only.

And on another UK note ODEON posted this on Twitter -

Dave Houston -
@ODEONCinemas Are there Any plans for Batman Begins/Dark Knight showings in the lead up to #TDKR ?
ODEON -
@DaveTGA They may happen, we are talking to the distributor about them!

Outrageous! I was actually looking forward to having a crack at this. **** you Nolan.

The UK marathons will likely be on consecutive days and not leading up to showings. They did a similar thing for Harry Potter.

I think they're just going to fix the aspect ratio to fill the entire screen even during the non -IMAX parts
There are no IMAX scenes for BB. When I saw it back in '05, it did take up the entire screen, and it looked a LOT better than a regular screen. Plus, the sound was much better too.

The Tumbler chase scene was amazing in IMAX.

What was wrong with the TDK Bluray transfer? Anything specific? Too dark?

maybe its my tv settings, but i havent figured it out... but specifically the sky scraper jump (going after lau) the lights on the building look like they are flashing... and whenever someone wheres a striped suit or something like that, it looks like it is flashing as well (but thats on more than just TDK) and ive never been able to figure out the problem

I was thinking more of the Begins transfer. It's very grainy. So much detail seems missing in some of the dark scenes. TDK was better, though I think I've seen some other people complain about something wrong or off about the IMAX parts but I don't remember what that was.

Try not blinking, see if that stops it.

I thought the TDK bluray was stunning but I never saw it in IMAX until late last year.

That's a really annoying problem, I'm not sure it happens on mine though - I watch the bluray version on my laptop and there's no flashing during the skyscraper jump scene with the building lights, but there's some movement - I dunno.

I have to agree, BB is the lesser quality Bluray transfer. TDK while much better and of course the IMAX shots are lovely, it still lacks a little something. There are tons of other people who say the same thing concerning these BD transfers...

Ohh I see. I don't see the graininess but it must be there - well I didn't see it in cinemas or maybe my laptop settings are something else.

Color grading. Its far different from the actual film that you saw in theaters.

I see. Well, I didn't see it in theaters so I can't tell the difference - dammit :(

:highfive: Agreed! I'm also expecting the Bluray release of TDKR to be of the highest quality transfer possible.
It better be. That's going to be the perfect bluray movie to own!!! :D:D:D

It's only more fitting to have the film of the century this perfected to be at its full 100 % maximum quality HD of the highest level. Plus bouns extras and the rough cut of the movie with awesome IMAX format. ^w^

This is a direct transfer from the prior HD DVD release. As such, it doesn’t take full advantage of the format, and time has lowered the quality of the original. The picture is soft, and fine details struggle to come through. While certain shots are nearly flawless, the majority of the video is rather flat, although still a hefty jump from a DVD. The superb blacks do keep a stunning level of contrast , and the flesh tones are accurate. It’s a shame Warner didn’t issue a new encode though.

One of the flagship Warner releases on HD DVD, Batman Begins was delayed on BD to better capitalize on interactive features. Unfortunately, Warner appeared to make no effort to capitalize on Blu-ray's overarching feature: superior capacity. The bitrates of the BD are no better than that of the HD DVD. That means the picture and sound are also held back by the HD DVD, and appear to have been sourced from the same transfer. The video and audio are not bad at all, but Batman Begins is not up to reference quality by any accurate assessment. The most frustrating part of this observation is not just waiting more than a year for no significant bitrate improvement over the HD DVD, but in comparing Batman Begins to a six-minute prologue of The Dark Knight, which is included on the BD. Every frame of the prologue is truly reference quality, generating a stark contrast to the comparably veiled and constricted dynamics of the main feature.

Watch the scene on the frozen lake, where Bruce spars with Ducard. The color and detail is a touch muted, although the resolution is actually quite good. The tonal balance, from light to dark, appears lifelike, but definition is subdued as if a thin layer of plastic is placed over the screen. It is this "veiling" from the low bitrate transfer that hinders the picture and separates it from reference quality BDs like No Country for Old Men.

I could give some screenshots of my blu-ray to show bad the graininess gets at times, but I don't have it with me at the moment.

My TDK blu-ray has AMAZING shots from IMAX stuff but the other footage sometimes looks like a step between dvd and blu-ray. Abit poor.

Grain can be irritating, but it doesn't automatically mean that it's a bad transfer. If it's shot on a certain type of film, there's going to be grain. I don't know the specifics of BB, though.

I don't remember the grain from the theater, it wasn't really until I had it on a new TV and blu-ray for it to start bothering me. The movie that came before, Insomnia, and the movie that came after, the Prestige, don't come close to showing these flaws on my blu-rays or as often so I don't know what the deal is...

Neither Blu Rays have the Master Audio track. They are True HD. Compressed audio, nowhere near as good as Master Audio. They need to get on the ball with that ****! Pathetic!
