By your logic, we shouldn't have an intelligently written Flash at all lol. If Terrio is siding with the MAINSTREAM theory, that's fine and respectable, otherwise you're also saying Interstellar is worthless because it's based on "unproven facts" haha.

Nope lol. I'm saying I don't think time travel would necessarily ruin or convolute the movies. I was just poking fun that you stated that time travel wouldn't work
backwards as a fact. Especially so in a comic book movie. That's the point I was trying to make. Maybe it wasnt clear haha

Has it been established what LexOS is or how/if it ties into the story? I've suspected it's just a marketing thing for a while.

Noope. Actual physics don't work like that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel#Via_faster-than-light_.28FTL.29_travel

Only pieces of signals could be theoretically sent back, but they should be going faster than Light.

I realize that. I was talking about when Time Travel is used in stories. Even Doctor Who, as cavalier as it is, deals with paradoxes. The paradox idea is used to keep time travel from being a deux et machina.

To be fair, plenty of physicists have challenged the way we conventionally look at time. Time simply is illusory. It's simply the increase of entropy from one direction of space to the next, and we evolved to perceive that change as a sequence of events. It's the entire basis for our conception of cause and effect. If time is relative, then someone who can step outside of the 3 dimensional existence and see time like we do a movie.

Very true. I'd like to say I'm skeptical of how that could work (is forward movement even possible without time?), but I'm not a theoretical physicist, so I don't really have the knowledge to challenge it.

If I may ask a few folks here, back when TDK first came out...it obviously ended with Batman on the run after having taken the fall for Dent's crimes; pretty much leaving things on a somewhat cliffhanger note.

So with that said, how did everyone here (who is a fan of TDK) feel about it when they first saw that? Did you guys feel like it ended the film on a downer note and that you wanted closure to the story at the end of the film as opposed to having to wait for the next one?

The reason why I'm asking is because I want to know if the reason why so many liked that type of ending for TDK is also why a good amount of folks are okay with the way BvS reportedly ends.

So is there a post credit scene or was that Mexican dude just trolling for retweets?

TDK ending was perfect. If anything, it was the TDKRises beginning that undermined Batman's character making him look like a wimp, but the TDK ending was the hypest thing.

I was completely fine with the ending of TDK. It was exactly how that story needed to end. As long as the ending is true to the story, the characters and the armature of the story itself, then I'm absolutely fine with it.

Same this with TDKR. When people first started talking about the "cafe" ending, everyone started losing their minds. Once the movie came out and we saw the context for that scene, it made sense.

I absolutely loved the film, but I didn't walk away "happy" if you know what I mean. I was happy it was so good on the first watch, but it hooked me so well that I was kinda depressed for a day afterward.

Come oooooooooooon. He have BvS coming out in a few days, people already have seen it and some are seeing it within a matter of hours and we're gonna talk about a 9 year old movie's ending for the 1000th time?

I'll start with BvS... I've kept my feelings about the reported synopsis to myself, mainly because this is the spoiler thread, not the skepticism thread, but also because I'm actually interested in seeing how it plays out.

I learned this lesson with Doctor Who, actually:

For season 8 (Peter Capaldi's first season as the Doctor), the scripts for the first five episodes leaked. I wasn't impressed with the scripts at all, but found I really enjoyed the episodes (in fact, the script I disliked the most turned out to be the episode I liked the best of the 5). Reason being is the execution: what I saw in my head as I was reading the scripts was not how it played out in the episodes; the execution was largely phenomenal.

I'm not enthused with the BvS synopsis posted here, to be honest, but the execution could change all of that for me.

As for TDK... I loved that ending. I thought it was set up extremely well, and I felt Gordon's little monologue as Batman ran was brilliant. Admittedly, I think the use of it in TDKR was... erm... not great, but for TDK it was absolutely brilliant. It was a powerful, bittersweet ending: the only way the Joker could lose was for Batman to take the fall.

Back to BvS... you really have to think about the execution. The whole, final script for BvS could leak tomorrow, and we could all read it, and I, for one, could actually hate what I read, only to find that I absolutely loved how it was executed when I see it on the 24th.

--------------------------------------------------

And now I have a question for those who've seen the film...

How well do Affleck and Gadot play off each other? I want that dynamic (Wondy/Bats, that is) so bad in these films it's not even funny, so I need to know if their chemistry with each other is strong and if they play off each other well.

at this point, I've prepared myself for the ending and for what I'm imagining that last shot to look like.

so, if anything, I think I'll be disappointed if the leaked info is false and it ends differently.......lol.

just playing out how I'd imagine the ending while listening to "This Is My World," this has the potential to be one of the most powerful/emotional scenes in a CB movie.

I can see myself breaking down into tears during that last shot.

if it's done right, of course.

I agree with execution being key. X2, X-Men DOFP, and TDKRises were all spoiled for me prior to watching....and the endings were not to my liking. Yet I ended up enjoying each of those films. Rises has kinda not held up for me, but X2 and DOFP are still my top X-Men films. And all those films, why sucking on paper, worked the way they were meant to and were solidly crafted films.

Snyder better give us 90's mullet-core Superman in JL. If anyone can pull that look off, it's Cavill. I'm not even joking.

Doesn't the fact that **** starts moving on his coffin mean that he is about to bust out? Like him getting ready to fly in Man of Steel with the rocks levitating?

yeah, I'd say X2 and DOFP and TDK had satisfying ending executions on the screen.

whereas TDKR had poorer execution - the ending description sounded more epic reading it than seeing it........lol.

imo, of course.

Thanks for your responses guys. I definitely appreciate it.

Yeah, I guess it's all going to depend on execution at this point. I just hope that it doesn't feel like you have to really imagine that the film is trying to give a "hopeful" ending that Superman may (even though that we know he really is) still be alive and it's not like an Inception type of thing.

Not quite

if the ending plays out how it's been described in the leaks and how I'm imagining it in my head, then I can say that, as a Superman fan, I will be crying tears.........of joy. ;)

Same.

So, what does it mean then? That he can make dust and stuff move on his coffin but he is gonna stay in there for a few more weeks?

No. But you're making it seem like hes going t bust through the ground into a full Mach 2 flight. I don't think that's what the filmmakers were going for

Oh nothing that extreme, all I'm saying is that he isn't gonna be in there for much longer.
