Which fight ran longer - the Superman/ Batman fight or the Doomsday fight?

1) yes, but Superman pleading to save Martha is what makes Batman hesitate long enough for Lois to get to batman and explain the situation

Thanks for your answers.

Awww man if that's how onesided the fight is/ends there is going to be a backlash from superman fans. And Batfans will forever bring it up, think TDKR but on a grander scale as even the average cinema goer will have in their mind cemented that batman>superman not only, mentally but physically. Sounds like superman got dominated hard, no balance just straight up curb stomped by batman; Superman defeated just looking up at Batman from his knees/ on his back and everyone knowing that all the power is in Bruce to kill Superman or let him live. In short Superman lives because Bruce ALLOWED him to live.

What I've been saying all along.

Questions: For those that watched the film, did Mercy have any meaningful screentime at all? Was she someone who stood out? Is there any focus on the fact that Lex lets her die as part of his plan, or is that just something the viewer realizes on his/her own?

Also, how's the chemistry between the members of the trinity(Bruce/Clark, Bruce/Diana, Clark/Diana)?

Not really. She was pointless to be honest. Easily dispatched with no remorse

You're focusing way too much on the physical fight itself and ignoring the philosophical battle behind the whole thing. I am a huge Batman fan, but his win is not a thing to be proud of. Superman may have lost technically, but Batman lost mentally. He lost philosophically. He was not heroic. He was just as bad as the criminals he puts away. Maybe worse. That was the point. And it all played out beautifully.

Mercy is just Lex's assistant, always at his side. Untill he lets her die at the senate bombing

Same can be said about Batman. Batman lives because Superman ALLOWED him to live. If Superman wanted, he could easily use heat vision or crush him, but because Superman is morally good he didn't try to kill Batman. Reminds me of this quote from Batman.

"If Clark wanted to, he could use his superspeed and squish me into the cement. But I know how he thinks. Even more than the Kryptonite, he's got one big weakness. Deep down, Clark's essentially a good person... and deep down, I'm not."

Are you sure she is dead... I didn't notice it, but my wife told me that they showed her sitting in the capitol building and then she looked over and realized Lex wasn't there and then you saw her empty seat as well before the explosion... She could be wrong, but I totally missed it

You bring a different perspective, but the batfans I know and am friends with will be extremely proud of that. I am dreading the grins on their faces and the elbow nudges I will be getting at the movies. I will never be able to argue with them about superman vs batman again. And if I bring up the philosophical battle...well I'd get laughed at so hard I'd never finish a sentence. Not just my friend but the general attendees; how many look into the philosophical standpoints? Few and it is these types of fans that are the most vocal.

Would it really have been so hard to have a more balanced fight, with Bruce getting the upper hand rather than have superman on the brink of death? Would such a path have detracted from the movie?

From what I've read... It sounds like there's no coincidence on WB's part releasing this the Friday before Easter, since Supes dies and will return like Christ. Pretty cool.

Didn't even think about this.

1. Mercy was most prominent in the party scene, outside of that she's just a face. No focus on Lex letting her die as far as I'm concerned. Wish she hadn't died, wasn't really needed imo. Tao did good with the little she though.

2. Chemistry. There wasn't a lot of interaction between Superman and Wonder Woman, they didn't talk at all as Clark and Diana. Bruce and Diana have pretty good chemistry, definitely some tension between the two. I think Bruce figured she was a Selina Kyle type...at first anyway.

The philosophies going into the fight are pretty much front in center. Impossible to miss. Disregarding that is a failure to actually watch the movie. It wouldn't make sense for the fight to be balanced, not that it was that crazily one-sided anyway. They had completely different goals going into it.

If you're just watching this movie to see guys punch each other, then you're playing yourself.

Lawd, some people are so tripping. The fight HAS to be one sided folks! If Superman put up any real fight against Bats, it would prove Batman's paranoia that Supes has a killer in him.

Bats "winning" proves he is a total a-hole willing to kill a good man for no real reason. In that way, he totally loses.

Seriously, who's better: the man willing to kill a guy who wasn't even trying to fight him? Or the guy who lets a man weaker than him bring him to his knees because it is the morally right thing?

As I roll this movie around in my head things clicked into place. I will write an in depth review when I get home

It's important to know that the "V" in the title is not about the physical fight, but the philosophies of these two characters.

Roach, you write screenplays-- what were your thoughts on the knightmare? What did it mean? Did you think it was jarring?

Mercy is pretty much a non-character. She's just a common secretary, with maybe one line?

Bruce and Diana have a lot of interaction, Bruce and Clark have little beyond the fight, and Clark and Diana don't talk at all.
