The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 16 "A" Discussion Thread

I actually kind of hope they avoid the Safe Zone stuff for the forseeable future.

I dunno, there's a lot of great material in that section of the comics, but they've kinda used some of it already in the prison.

I can't recall any names from tonight's episode but they look very close to the cannibals in the comics...only without a huge ass place to live in.

Alexandria Safe-Zone is the next big stop after the prison/Woodbury in the comics. There they meet Douglas Monroe, a senator and they pretty much, without giving anything away, stay there for a while.

Sup Kane! Thanks for all the info. Terminus does not look like the Safe Zone by looking at these panels.

Well, that's my thing. I feel like using it at any point in the next season will just feel repetitive so close to the Prison arc. The significance of the flashbacks, to me at least, was Hershel essentially (but with good intentions) taming Rick after all the **** that had happened in the first three seasons, and then the Rick of the present realizing that he had to uncage his inner animal now that they're out in the open. I'd rather not see him put back in a cage so soon.

Yeah, people's aim on the show varies wildly and hilariously but that was so bad it seemed like it was on purpose. Like they weren't actually trying to kill them and instead were herding them to the "A" train car.

Ummm it was on purpose, they were shooting at their feet as to avoid killing them/herd them in the direction they wanted to.

No one says "screwing"? Did I miss the part where everyone in the world started living in a The Wolf of Wall Street? :o

I haven't read the comics, so are these cannibals in the comics or did they add that to the show to go all out?

:funny:

You need to get out more. I still hear people saying "screwing someone over". Yeah, some people use the F word instead but to say "No one says that in real life"...riiiight.

Yeah when I heard him say that major  I missed the part where everyone in real life uses the F word profusely now. Screwing is an outlawed term in real life guys, only carpenters are allowed to say it :o

i thought it was great. Something tells me Terminus is more than just hunters/cannibals, something very bad/sad happened to them. That room with the names of people they've lost, a huge betrayal? Just a very elaborate way to go about capturing Rick, I mean they had them put down their weapons only to rearm them, leading to one of there own getting killed?

can't wait til October:woot:

I assumed the names on the wall were people they sacrificed me ate. I'm expecting to see Beth's name on the wall at some point.

I have to say I really enjoyed this season. It kind of seemed directionless at first but everything tied together by the end of the season. I was worried tonight would end abruptly , but they stopped it at a good point. I'm glad season five won't have a time lapse like the past seasons

What? But all of the rooms they passed had that and there's not much to back that theory up..
Unless there's something I'm not getting.
To me, it seemed like some kind of obstacle course for new Arrivals. Judging from all those bullet holes and no blood. All the missed gun fire looked like they were trying to "herd" them to a specific way.

So "A" could stand for Arrivals and because they can run, it means they are relatively healthy meaning not recently bit or sick from the flu. Therefor, Grade A Meat.

The people in teh shipping containers could be old and or sick people.

I'm from Jersey so I honestly never in my life heard someone say "screw". Saying "friggin" I can understand but it still wouldnt fit with the tone of Rick's emotions.

I loved the season finale...primal and raw with no apologies...those kind of eps are good to have once and a while.

I don't follow the comics...but I knew Terminus was twisted. I already know everybody isn't making it out of that hell hole alive next season...it's going to be fun to watch though.

Sitting on nails until fall...

I'm from New York, I've heard friggin, F word and screw etc etc. So really don't get how because since you've never heard it in your life you assume it isn't said as you say "in real life" except by according to you carpenters.

I meant by the fact that I never heard it as a substitute for the word ****. But obviously people say "screwing a screw with a screwdriver" or "how many polish people does it take to screw in a lightbulb".

But really, who says "screw you" or "are you screwing with me?"

Yeah, but history has shown the tv show has gone their own route. It could very well be cannibals or the safe zone or both...or something else. Who knows.

Yeah I can see that, all we know for sure is that we're getting the Zero F***s Ricktatorship.

A lot of people do, but apparently you've managed to avoid these people all your life.

Hmm, actually I do avoid people who use substitute swear words. I can't trust a person who doesnt curse. Those people are screwed in the head.

Anyway, lets move on. Most of this ep seemed to focus on Rick changing his ways for the sake of Carl and then later recanting that and going back to kill or be killed mode. I wonder whats that going to mean if and when they go to Alexandria.

Hah yeah, I mean, I thought it was quite obvious that the Terminus people were missing on purpose. If you look at the bullet pattern on the ground, you can see them trying to point them in a certain direction. A little goofy, but hey, it makes sense in this scenario of them leading Rick's group to a dead end.

No Big deaths.

This was a shocker to me. I couldn't believe they didn't finish anyone off. The worst was I went to go uhh get the episode online, and in the top comments people had said Darryl died saving the group. Glad that wasn't true, as I have to imagine he's getting a lot more roles' offered to him since being on this show.

needless to say, it sets up season 5 nicely....and we saw all the bones and carcasses as they were running through, so they must be doing something crazy. I won't be surprised though if it is an obstacle style course, or something "ala" hunger games. where they take the winner into terminus.

either way its a much needed break.

Carol and Tyresse..didnt make it to terminus yet..good to know

They've bleeped it out on Mad Men as well. I'm guessing they push their 'what's ok to show on TV' limit with the violence that they have to sacrifice some of the language? I have no idea...

Are they not allowed to air uncensored swearing on AMC?

It seems pretty strange they are comfortable with gory violence but draw a line at using the odd swear word

Much like last Season this felt like the episode that should have been the one before the finale. I was entertained but it all just felt like a set up which I get with it being a TV show and all but I just wanted more...

Thats 'Murica for ya. We get all riled up over 1 second nip slips/middle finger during the suberbowl and certain words that are in the dictionary. But biting a man's neck off? Shooting a little girl in the back of the head? Go nuts.

btw, isnt it the opposite in the UK? Where nips and swearing is ok on tv but violence isnt?

What an episode!! Season 5 can NOT get here fast enough!!!

That's what I'm thinking too. I really enjoyed it, and along with "The Grove", it's tied for best episode of the second half for me. Having said that, I would have much rather they nixed that Beth and Daryl episode (and condensed the little bit of development from that into the episode where Beth was kidnapped) so that we'd have one more dealing with Terminus. Of course, once October rolls around this will be a moot point for me, but it's a long wait.

People say it, trust me.

I doubt it was them. I agree with someone else who suggested earlier that Father Gabriel's probably the one who abducted her. My guess is he thought she was out alone, needed help, but forced her into the car out of fear of being grabbed by Walkers. In all likelihood, after things calmed down and she explained the situation, they may've even gone back to look for Daryl. Who knows, but my guess is she's safe at the moment.

I agree about the names, though. They're probably the names of their victims. Either that, or they're the names of their own people who they were forced to eat before they hit upon the idea of luring others to them.

You need to get out more. And I say that as a person who has a mouth like a sailor from time to time but still uses the word "screw" in that context on a fairly regular basis. Maybe it's a regional thing but I doubt it.
