CD Projeckt Red The Witcher 3

I am pretty bad at this game. Should I just wander and grind stuff? It's only worth to sell the junk stuff and weapons that are below the power of my current weapons, right? Everything else I should keep because it goes towards making items? Is it worth just having a lot of animal meat for health, as well?

I keep everything that either can regenerate health or be used to craft armor or weapons or potions and oils. Any weapons or armor that are below my current equipped stuff either is sold or dismantled for parts.

So far I haven't had to grind at all. Granted I'm only level 5, but grinding hasn't been a necessity. There has been plenty of interesting locations and challenges and quests to keep me from just grinding.

Oh and seek out Places of Power. They are large stones sticking out of the ground with a glowing light in the center. You'll know when you get near one beccause Geralt wills say "There is a place for power nearby." Or something along that line. Go to the stone and drain it's power. It will temporarily make one of your Signs more powerful and it gives you 1 ability point. These Places of Power are spread across the map.

Anyone who is thinking about racking up bank, don't go into the 6 digits. There seems to be something in the code that malfunctions when you have money in the 6 digits. Some are having trouble even when they go over $20,000. So it might be a good idea to keep your wallet below that amount.

They clearly want us Witchers to be poor and penniless wandering from job to job with little coin. Such is the life of a Witcher. The dirty job that no one wants but the person for the job that everyone needs!

Geralt of Rivia is the hero we need but not the one we deserve!

Iv sunk like 25 hours so far and feel Iv preogressed so very little...and I love it. I'm just now finding some good gear. Still wearing the starting Wolf gear. Haven't found any gear that looks better.

I ditched my witcher gear the second I found stronger armor and a stronger steel sword which was about two hours into the game. I couldn't care less about how the armor looks. It's the stats I care about.

I'm the opposite. Some of the armor looks atrocious, even tho it's a much higher level. Plus, I don't get hit all that often, so I don't really need much in the way of armor, at present any way.

How it looks is very important to me. In other news I've decided to finally finish up Witcher 2!

Couple of things I found in the official game guide:

Quests with a suggested level that is 5 or more levels lower than Geralts level receive an experience reward penalty, so if you want to maximize the awards you earn from a quest, make sure you attempt it when you are close to its recommended level. Page 43

Killing monsters rewards the most experience if the enemy is five levels over Geralt's current level. The closer to, or farther below Geralt's level, the less experience that enemy is worth. Page 43

Every level Geralt earns awards one ability point. You can earn 69 total ability points just by leveling.

You can earn extra points by drawing them from Places of Power hidden throughout the world. However, even if you find every Place of Power, and achieve maximum level, you cannot max every skill in the game. Because of the limited total number of ability points, it helps to consider in advance the sort of witcher you want to play. There are a total of 16 Places of Power in the world. Page 44

I am playing on the hardest difficulty so no regeneration for me, I will tell you a cool trick create swallow using alchemy and always have some strong alcohol in your items list. When you run out of Swallow just meditate and it should come back due to you having alcohol in your item bag. Another cool thing use the mutagens they are extremely beneficial and will give your stats a boost. Get some kick ass swords and trust you will be a force to be reckoned with even if a monster is on a higher level, I beat a cyclops at level 10 just by playing things smart.

Same here, I like the look of the heavy/long armor gear in this game and have my Bear/Ursine armor ready for when I hit 17.

The free DLC amor looks cool.. Like a heavier Wolf armor. The rest of the crap I've found looks like hobo gear. No thanks.

There are moments when I try to do basic combat maneuvers, like pressing B to dodge, and it tells me I cannot do this at this time.

Also, I used all my Swallow, said 0/3 and everything, yet when I go to make more Swallow it tells me I already have this item. So I dropped the 0/3 Swallow and then I was able to make more. Is this really how it's done though?

You only ever have to make anything once. Meditate and alcohol will refill any potions/oils/bombs you have already crafted.

Just buy or pick up and loot all alcohol you can find from homes and stores sacks, will replenish your potions you have created with alchemy every 24 hours in game.

The design and style of armor and weapons in this game, has me like :hmr:. Just crafted a sweet looking steel sword and with a rune slot in it glows red when drawn, love it.

Ah, I didn't realize meditation did that. Thanks for the tip.

For the Werewolf mission it told me to wait till nightfall for the wolf to come to his hiding spot. So I went to the hiding spot, then meditated until 10PM. Geralt stands up, I turn around, instantly hear a roar, and I see a Werewolf Healthbar appear in the darkness and I'm like "Aw ****, no!" My favorite moment so far.

I freaking hate fighting werewolves. Their health regen is so potent it negates any damage I do. Grrr!

I spent so much money and time crafting some armor and I can't even use it til level 24 lol. Definitely been doing a lot of side quests but the number of question marks is almost intimidating. Great experience so far though.

OK, sort of random weird, but important question.

I know what happens if you have romanced Kiera and look for her on Fyke Isle. Ideally you want to convince her to go to Kaer Moehrn to be safe, but what if you ask for her to give you the papers before she leaves? Will that give you power to cure the plague?

The pearl exploit has already been patched on PC. Wish I had gotten to it before it had. Money is hard to come by.

Know what I'm doing tonight now then :sly:

Got my full Bear School outfit now, damn smexy :hmr:

Nice. I just got all the Feline gesr myself. Really diggin that stuff. First time Iv changed gear since the start of the game.

Yeah liking the various school treasure hunt missions, makes a nice change from the other missions. I prefer the long/heavy armor look in this game for Geralt I think but to be honest they have put a lot of effort into making all the higher level armors look fantastic.

This game for me has raised the bar for RPG's, just gets better and better. Some minor gripes aside its damn near perfect. Heck the mini-game Gwent is better than most live arcade games released for £10.

Did the developers make good on their claim that you dont need to have played the other games to understand Witcher 3? They said this is the perfect jumping point for the series. Is that true or just fluff they put out there?
