CD Projeckt Red The Witcher 3

I bought this game last week.

It's the first game of this generation I haven't been disappointed by. I'm constantly amazed and impressed, and after getting to the second area (Velen?) last night, a little overwhelmed.

I'm taking it slow, learning the ropes. I spent a lot of time in White Orchard familiarizing myself with the basics. Early as I am into the game it's hard to say what my lasting impression will be, but so far it feels like CD Projekt Red have set the bar for open world RPGs going forward, and they've set it insanely high.

Yea it's by far been this generations greatest achievement and it's not close. There also doesn't appear to be any announced title that could come close to taking that title from it. Iv been half jokingly saying that the Witcher 3 should be 2016's GOTY due to the fact its expansion is set to release this year and most likely will be better than anything else that's planned to release in 2016.

The Witcher 3 might be my favorite game of all time, but I don't think it is that far ahead of Bloodborne in terms of quality.

Not bad, considering I didn't look for guides for taking choices.

Great game overall. Ended with 25 pipes on my collection.

I would say Cyberpunk could possibly be better, but it's from the same developer so it's not even fair lol.

Oh if any game could top the Witcher it'll be another CDPR game. What's even more incredible is that the Witcher 3 is a first for CDPR, in the sense that they've never done a game of this scale. It's not like they are rockstar or Ubisoft in that they have multiple open world titles under their belt. This was their first step into a true open world and they f'ing raised the bar. Can't wait to see what they do with Cyberpunk.

The Witcher 3 is an incredible feat of gaming achievement. I haven't finished it yet and I bought it on release, yet it still manages to hook me back in every now and again.

Every open world game has bugs. Look at anything Bethesda or Ubisoft releases. And those guys are open world vets.

Actually, I was surprised how relatively polished W3 was. In comparison to other OW games.

I mean the bugs with flying Roach are funnier than anything else. But what did tick me off was the quest line glitches. Like when I completed a quest and said it failed, or when it wouldn't let me finish a questline due to a glitch.

This was funny though. I did think Roach was a idiot most of the of time when he spawns in.

I don't disagree. The problem with The Wild Hunt was the type of bugs, how it effected actual story missions and how long it took them to fix them. Also, was not a fan of how they did not communicate with fans. The boards actually got a bit hostile because of it.

There was also the problem with how they handled leveling up and how it defeated the idea of doing what you wanted.

I didn't find any bugs, (except for the time I coud not stop jumping) but then again, i bougth the game later.

When I got the game a little less than two weeks ago there was a 17+ gig update file it downloaded when I put in the disk. I suspect a lot of that was fixing various issues.

One of my favorite bugs was when the dead enemies kept on rolling in the floor, even decapitated heads.

Didn't they add a s*** ton of free stuff though. I could've swore there were updates like every other week about how they were adding things to the game that most developers would charge for.

All the free stuff is seperate DLC's. Extra missions, weapons, gwent decks, finishing animations etc

I'd sure like some more finishing moves. Not that the current ones I have aren't totally bad ass, but I can see them becoming repetitive after 50 or so hours.

EDIT: Incidentally I attempted to a "Suggested for Level 7" quest where you fight a werewolf while still level 4. It did not go well.

Yeah, I tried fighting a level 42 griffin when I was at 35.

I got killed in a single strike.

Heh heh, I guess it's beneficial to pay attention to the suggestions! At least within a couple of levels difference. I did okay against the werewolf, as in I managed to roll out the way a bunch and survive for longer than expected, but there was no way I had the strength or equipment to triumph.

I did take on, I think it was a suggest level 6 story quest while level 4, and did pretty well. By the boss fight at the end I had made it to level 5, so I squeaked through. Although to be fair I had an ally helping me out on that one.

Speaking of leveling up, what's the best way you guys have found to have XP? I find The Witcher 3 is a little more demanding than most games for getting points (which is by no means a bad thing) and that I get the most experience from doing quests. Running around in the world and fighting bandits, drowners etc seems to yield little result. Is there a better way to earn XP outside of quests than tear-assing around getting into random brawls?

If u haven't already, go download all the free DLC. One of them are extra finishing moves.

Haha I came across that same quest line in my first playthrough. Yea that fight was tough as hell when ur under leveled.

Yea quests are gonna be your best bet. Take on every Witcher contract ya come across. Even if it's a few levels higher than u, u can stil do it and you'll be rewarded with more XP.

No matter what I do, I'm at level 42 and I just can't beat this level 48 Griffin on a Skellige island and it ticks me off so much.

I have been reading the books before my fourth PT and during it, and I must say, the games have a whole new depth now that I'm absorbing all the engaging lore. Ciri is one of my favorite female characters in fiction, some for Yen and Geralt.

The Witcher 3 truly is a masterpiece, and the best game of this generation so far.
