I also really don't buy this whole agrument Obama where he is PURELY because he's black. He's where he is because he's a dynamic speaker and his charisma. His race may add to the "mystique" perhaps,...but you can't compare Obama and John Edward??? Edwards, a good speaker, is no where near the level Obama or even Bill Clinton is for that matter. Edwards isn't even Ronald Reagan. Edwards doesn't inspire, unite, charm the way Obama does. Edwards gives a good stump, fight on speech. But the speech Kennedy/Clinton/Reagan/Obama give speeches like they're authority figures that are seranading you...

Name one other white Democratic politician recently who has given a speech like Obama has?

I don't see Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or Alan Keyes running away the candidacy because of their race. Yes, they are fringe candidates...but the point remains. Obama is where he is because of his talent and his ability to market himself...

He was fast tracked to the presidential nomination without any scrutiny from the media or party insiders because he is black. If a white senator announced his candidacy without even serving half a term he would be torn apart by the media. Look at John Edwards in 2004. They had a field day talking about his "inexperience" when he had TRIPLE the experience Obama had. Obama got a free ride on not having a platform for the first 12 months of his campaign. Obama got a pass from the media because he is black and that makes a sexier story than a white guy.

It's not even close. And I think you can easily argue that Obama is smarter than either Edwards, Clinton, or any other candidate this year. His grades in Law School support that. Unless of course his grades were given to him because he's black.

Its not poltically stupid at all. It is a perfectly valid critique of the media. They are giving the man a free pass, and not only that, turning him into a rock star candidate, while criticizing others for the same thing when they did it to a lesser extent (running for president while inexperienced is just one example). The media shouldn't be creating rockstar candidates at all yet alone giving anyone a free pass. An independent media is crucial to safe guarding democracy. Instead of running fluff pieces of him playing basketball they should be breaking down his platform piece by piece. Same with all of the candidates. But no, they would rather have their story about the first black candidate as opposed to actually scrutinizing a man who can lead the free world. This kind of inattention from the media is what allowed George Bush to slip lies right through the cracks and lead us straight into an unjustified war.

I'm talking out of my ass? OK, there was evidence that this kind of sentiment existed amongst her supporters, which is all I have seen people on those news stations say. That does NOT mean Hillary agreed with it at all and I haven't seen people necessarily make that conclusion. Obama's campaign manager did it, which was ridiculous in my opinion. But there's plenty of evidence, on both sides, that there's various sentiment that gets spouted off without the candidate approving of it. People have their own minds, but when it happens multiple times then there's at least more than one person that feels that way. That is the only thing I've seen people say in the media. Blame Obama's campaign for saying that it was an "insidious pattern" and trying to blame Clinton for it, don't blame the media for reporting their own observations on what her supporters have done and said. This is one situation where it was definitely Obama's people, not the effing media, that you should be outraged at.
