Things those of you don't like about the Nolan Bat-movies.

My biggest beef was the lack of display of Bruce's detective and technological/scientific skills. As well as not mentioning how he studied escape artistry and many other skills besides just martial arts when training to become Batman.

That, and the fight scenes, they really need to work on those.

I concur on both of his points, especially the first one. Batman relies too much on Lucius Fox.

i hate it when he makes this "flying through the batcave - thing". i remember batman doing it two times and it looked absolutely silly.

maybe it could have been awesmome-looking, i think CConn has nailed it.

by the way, i like this thread :cwink:

After the first post, I was ready to dust of this bad boy -

But then guys like CConn had to come along and spoil it with sensible arguments.

Somebody better start whining soon; I've got a picture of cheese, and it ain't gonna offer itself.

I'm sorry but I just don't like the "I'm Batman!" line.

I don't know why I don't like it. I just don't like it.

I know Bruce has to utter it once just so it can embed itself into the movie's lore and on-screen lexicon. But, bleh! Just don't say it any more.

And I will have to agree with Infinity. For one of the world's most gifted detectives, we never, ever, ever, ever, ever get to see practically any of Bruce's detective skills. All we have really ever seen on screen is his well-honed stake-out skills. But that was the Year One Batman and he's still got time to grown into that world's finest detective we all know.

You gotta admit, though. It was better than Clooney's "Hi, Freeze! I'm Batman."

Batman doesn't say hi. It should be a rule.

Those were some of my favourite shots in the whole movie. I wish he'd do it more i.e. the scene with Batman jogging through Arkham looked ridiculous, he shoulda been *whooshing*.

The Goddamn "storms coming" Line, I hate that s**t

I still don't like the Joker pic, although I'm still pulling for full face and hair shot to sway my opinion.

I swear to him and him alone.

I just swear at everyone else.

I agree. It would make sense if he was outside and maintaining his aura, but the times he's doing it when he's all by itself it feels like he's thinking "Whee! I'm the Batman! I'm so cool!"

For some reason, I burst out laughing at that scene in Batman Begins. Maybe it was because it was done before and became so popular it became heavily referenced. Using that one line in the film changed Bale from Batman to a guy running around dressed as Batman. If that was the first time the line was delivered it would have been fine.

I can understand someone being upset with the new Bat-franchise, but seriously man...Burton did better?

To be honest the more and more I go back and watch the Burton films, the more and more I dislike them. I mean I know Batman 89' like the back of my hand, but the more I watch it, the more and more I just don't like it.

I have to say that as much as I didn't like Rachel Dawes, every Batman film has to give Bruce Wayne some sort of love interest. I mean come on, would it been unrealistic for the film to have no love interest? It would have in my book.

I think Maggie will do a better job with the role though. Really excited about that.

That was my only complaint from Begins.

I have to agree with this one. I understand he was in a hurry to save Rachel, but if anything, he was just totally f***ing around with the cape because he could. So he was actually wasting time.

What a prick!

Gliding is just faster than walking. I do it all the time. When I'm cooking, sometimes I have to glide across the kitchen to grab the tomato paste, then glide back to the stove.

Bah. He wasn't showing off he was just hurrying and leaping with balletic grace. He's the goddamn batman eveything he does looks flashy

(except when he's jogging)

Or trying to turn his head. Thankfully, TDK will solve that!

OK:

The big pretentious speeches. Firstly nobody in real life talks the way alot of the dalogue went in Begins. Secondly Batman doesn't talk much. Period. I think he was alittle too talkative.

Extreme close ups to the extreme. Come on Nolan! You're employing the same camera techniques as Paul W.S. Anderson and Uwe Boll. Fix up those fight scenes. People can argue about trying to hide Batman and stuff but what about the Falcone POV shot at he docks? Was he having a seizure?

The need to explain everything. I felt my intelligence was insulted. I mean come on. We KNOW Batman's suit is everything proof. We KNOW the Batmobile can go f**king fast.

Lack of iconic theme. William's theme is synonymous with Superman, Elfman's theme is synonimous with Batman. If you where to play the Begins music to the average punter no one would guess Batman.

It's not who you are underneath but what you do that defines you. WRONG! It's ok to be a racist Nazi as long as you help white old ladies cross the road? Uh-uh. Which reminds me. This movie didn't really dig as deep as people think it did. At least Burton gave us a question to ponder. Does a grown man who dresses up as a bat really doing the right thing?

"I wont kill you, but I don't have to save you!". That's still killing.

The first Joker pic. Worst. Physical. Incarnation. Of Joker. EVER!

Recycling the same excuses to change everything. The Batsuit gets destroyed so he'll get a new one. The Batmobile gets destroyed, so he'll get a batpod.

So in the end, Burton did better. He made Batman larger than life while keeping him low key.

I would have to say that im quite disapointed by the new Suit design, although im tinking there has to be a reason for such a dramatic change in its design. I was looking at a The Dark Knight Figure from the expo and it just looks like an uter clutter of mess.

I really hope its just one form of the design, for what I hear that something causes him to make a new suit.

Other than that, well that is for time to tell, all im going to say is "Prove us wrong Nolan, prove us wrong."

Seriously, was katie holmes REALLY that bad?

so many people love to hate on the woman, but not once did i remember thinking she was bad.

hell ill even dare to say she was "good".

disliking someone because of their religious beliefs, welcome to the world of comic book fans.

Not everyone is a Nolan drone, this is just for discussing things you are not pleased with, but not to fight about, just to get things off your chest, I know there are alot of those fans who don't like Nolan's dull vision.

I am dissapointed in Batman's second suit, it looks like Ironman with Bat-Ears. The Bat-Cycle is a shame, it like the rest of the film has no style.

The realism is just stupid, this is a Comic Book, if I wanted to see realism I'd watch the news. Even if Batman has no super powers that is not the point, his world still has fantastic things happen in it.

He has villians that have powers and so on.

Ra's in the first one was robbed of his character all so Nolan could do one of his stupid surprise endings, Ra's never made it to the big screen in my opinion. He was robbed of his back ground and Lazarus Pits.

Scarecrow barely wore his mask 'cause Nolan didn't want him to wear it, then why even make a movie about a guy who dresses up like a Bat and fights crime, why have him wear a costume then.

then there's the new Joker, the joke of a Joker. Heath is all wrong, as is the look. The Joker does not have a cut in smile, and smeared lip stick, he looks like he should be looking in the mirror going, who's a filthy ****e, you're a filthy ****e.

It is just pathetic. I have had it with Comic Book movies being destroyed by realism, and stupid directors lacking imagination, and are lazy, such as Nolan. Singer fits in there aswell, his X-men movies were just garbage, the characters were ruined, his Superman worked a bit better but then he abandoned the comics again. As does Nolan, he doesn't care, and I will not have my favorite character go through all this without saying something.

I agree with a sig I'd seen here at SHH, Burton did better.

Interesting idea. I think I'm going to go join a Gears of War forum to talk about how much I don't like the game, or perhaps a music forum so I can express my negative feelings toward music.

I understand you don't like these movies, so why go to a forum dedicated solely to it?
