Thor 2 Dark World news, speculation and pictures possible Spoilers - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 22

Disney's new app DISNEY MOVIES ANYWHERE just released two new deleted scenes from Thor 2 and it's going to piss a lot of you off because I'm pissed.

Why Marvel? Just why are the deleted scenes from both THOR movies deleted in the first place? There's some great stuff from both films cut for no real good reason.

We must have posted at the same time because I just posted this:

Here's a deleted scene that WASN'T on my blu-ray!? It was posted on "the other site," and apparently it's exclusive to the Disney Anywhere app.

[YT]watch?v=4Ybnlsnbqgk[/YT]

I really wish this was still in the movie, as it shows Thor as an expert hand-to-hand combatant without Mjolnir. It's great. It's exactly the kind of thing Hemsworth wanted, too, if I remember his comments correctly.

Also, does anyone know if there are more deleted scenes on the Disney Anywhere thing that weren't on the main Blu-ray/DVD release? Seems like a rip off to me (except that they released it for free online, so I guess their karma is balanced.).

What's the second one? I'll have to look it up.

EDIT: If I find it I'll post it here, but i'm about to go out so if someone else finds it please post it.

Jane awakes on Asgard on her first day there. It's a fun nice scene.

Different outlets have different special features... unfortunately, not an entirely new concept (although this movie, at least, didn't seem as bad as some other movies recently as most of the store-exclusives for it seemed mostly cosmetic (different covers or cases and things like that). Star Trek: Into Darkness was a pain in the ass for me to decide which version to get since Target had one set of featurettes, Best-Buy another set and so on)

As for the scene... I agree would've been nice to see this one kept in. I do like the hand to hand and Thor's comment of 'no killing' to Loki. My favorite part though is that Loki clearly wants to like fold his arms across his chest while he watches his brother fight and the stupid manacles are getting in the way *lol* I love the look of frustration on his face.

Aww maaan. I really want to see that. Huge Thor fan here and I'm bummed that I missed out on a few extras like this. If anyone finds or uploads this scene, I would appreciate it so, so, so much! Found this place in a desperate Google hunt to find any info on this after hearing about the other deleted scene. (I have an unhealthy obsession with these movies...) :woot:

[Edit: Whoops, I misread. I thought I'd have to actually buy the movie again on iTunes to be able to see the additional deleted scenes on Disney's site. In case anyone else made my mistake, you can see the scenes at the "Discover" section of the Disney Movies Anywhere site. You just have to make an account first. I can only seem to get pretty meh streaming quality on the deleted scenes, though, despite getting great quality for the other videos in that section. Hm.]

True, I was just surprised that they would split up the deleted scenes. I don't think I've seen that before myself. And thanks for the info on the other scene, J Howlett. I hope they post it online by the time I get home today.

Yeah a shot from the scene of Thor fighting hand to hand was used in the second trailer, I was bit bummed to see it cut from the final film.

Man why did they cut out that hand to hand throwdown. Thor comes off so impressive without the hammer there.

Why was this deleted?:doh:That was awesome! I'm starting to get pissed off at Marvel now. This showed off more of Thor's fighting style, something that was lacking form the films and they cut it? Why would they do that? -_- Ugh first off they don't film the scene where Thor uses all the lightning from the 9 relms to defeat Malekith and now this?:cmad:

This movie was awesome when I saw it but I'm liking it less and less now. Such a missed opportunity.

It's like Marvel doesn't want Thor to come off as "too badass" or something, well he IS the God of Thunder after all.

It's becoming ridiculous at this point.:whatever: I hope Whedon and whoever is directing Thor 3 does a better job. Branagh was on the right track. THe frost giants battle was pretty awesome imo.

Yeah Branagh did a good job of properly portraying how Thor should fight, especially for it to be the first one.

I agree with you guys, of course. I try not to get too bent out of shape about "the movie we could have gotten" (with the massive lightning ending, more Malekith backstory, and all these deleted scenes, etc) because, clearly, that movie doesn't exist. It IS hard to ignore all the awesome stuff that was cut, though. The more I hear about what was edited out of this one, the more I'm shaking my head.

I'll do my best to continue to look forward to Marvel learning from the mistakes of T:TDW, and hope that Thor 3 has so much awesome stuff that Thor fans are more than satisfied.

EDIT: had to add something because re-reading my post makes me feel like a whiny spoiled fanboy. I DID and will CONTINUE to really enjoy T:TDW as a second Thor adventure, despite it's imperfections. It just could have been so much more.

This about sums up my feelings as a whole, although I'm not holding my breath for Thor 3 to be much different.

Yeah, I just have to be optimistic. It's my healthy intentional default in dealing with disappointments in life. (not that a movie is life or death or anything, but you know what i mean).

The movie was merely OK, at best
if we have beat Marvel's door down (internet-figuratively speaking, of course) to get a better sequel, then that's what we must do!!

I agree with you completely, I feel the same way. I still love the movie as it is, but I can't understand why they cut these awesome scenes and why Marvel Studios downgrade Thor's power over and over again. And I'm tired of finding explanations or excuses for this downgrade.

Feeling the same way..Thor was created as the top dog in the marvel universe yet they seem to be making it a mission to weaken him at every turn....
 Next we will have Ultron lifting Thor's hammer and beating him in the head with it, requiring Black widow to come to his aid...
I hope that he is not depowered in AoU giving Hulk all the OMG moments...

I don't recall it either. I got the Walmart Bluray-3d version.

It still boggles my mind on how the film was allowed to keep a lot of the scenes featuring just Selvig or Darcy, but yet it couldn't bother to keep in the scenes that actually added more layers or provided nice treats for the fans regarding Thor and company.

I mean the final cut wasn't even 2 hours.

Honestly, I'm more worried about Thor's role in "Age of Ultron" because without any Loki in the story, how do they plan on tying him as a major player to the main arc? Heck, he wasn't even used in the best way that he could have been for the previous Avengers' film.

Honestly, I keep feeling like this film (TDW) was more of a fan service to Loki's and Tom's fans than it was about continuing Thor's arc as the primary one for his story.

I'm watching it right now finally, picked it up on the 1st. I forgot hw muh I enjoyed the music

Yeah, it doesn't boggle my mind, I'm just disappointed many scenes STILL can't be added when you play the films

The music's AWESOME. lol
I still want a list of how the songs play in the film though.
