Thor Ragnarok Spoilers - Part 1

Do you remember any scene where Thor shows super strength or lift anything big and heavy? (Outside of the arena fight) . It s frustrating that Thor hasn't any cool lifting feats in the mcu

It's not really a Thor thing, Marvel Studios doesn't seem to care much about lifting feats in general.

Hulk himself barely has any and super strength is his "thing".

Yeah not a lot of strongman stuff. Hulk and Thor throw some stuff around when they are having an argument after the fight... but nothing crazy.

Hulk does throw part of his bed at Valkyrie, which is a giant skull. There are a lot of skulls in this movie... but those are like paper weights to them huh.

1. Did they explain what exactly is "Ragnarok" in the context of the MCU? Is it just the destruction of Asgard?

2. Why is Thor in Muspelheim in the first place?

3. Does Skurge ever do any actual evil stuff for Hela?

4. This is probably asking a lot and I don't mind if this question is skipped - do you mind giving a brief rundown/summary of what events and mini-battles happen during the final battle?

Thanks for doing this for us.

1. Did they explain what exactly is "Ragnarok" in the context of the MCU? Is it just the destruction of Asgard?

They are pretty vague about it, they often state 'Ragnarok has already begun' after Thor is confident he averted it by beheading Surtur. But eventually it seems to mean simply the destruction of Asgard, the planet/realm.

2. Why is Thor in Muspelheim in the first place?

No real reason given other than maybe Thor trying to avert a prophecy of Ragnarok, not sure if its really explained/implied how he got into it.

3. Does Skurge ever do any actual evil stuff for Hela?

Hela forces him to execute an innocent Asgardian civilian, as to coerce them into giving up a place of hiding... I think... kinda fuzzy on how this scene resolves :P But yeah Skurge starts doubting his boss at this point.

In no particular order:

-Bunch of fireworks and fighting
-Banner drops from a spaceship and slaps lifelessly onto the rainbow bridge, was trying to reveal in an epic fashion to Valkyrie that he is the Hulk (she doesn't know)
-Ends up morphed and fighting Fenrir anyways
-Thor and Hela slap each other around a bit
-Thor loses an eye somewhere (not too gory, his eye socket is mostly black)
-Hulk fights Fenrir on the bridge, gets knocked off, they continue under wate. Fenrir flies down the waterfall, Hulk hangs on for dear life.
-Korg, Miek and Loki come in with a second ship to save civilians. Miek has pretty cool swords.
-Thor wreaks havoc on a whole bunch of undead soldiers, looking like a badass
-Skurge goes down like a boss firing dual machineguns to save said civilians
-Thor and Hela slap each other around a bit, maybe more lightning this time
-Surtur gets summoned
-Hela summons some big ass spikes and tries to fight Surtur
-Surtur don't care and plows through everything
-Hulk faceslaps Surtur
-Thor is like, please don't

Holy jeez you actually did it. Thanks, man, it sounds dope as hell.

Just a couple, way simpler questions if you don't mind.

1. Does Valkyrie have any other powers besides being super strong and good with swords?

2. Does Heimdall get cool moments?

3. There's that one shot in the trailer of Loki flipping his knives with civilians and what appears to be other non-Korg/Miek gladiators behind him on some random stone bridge - but that's the ONLY shot we ever see of that scene. What's that all about?

4. They've talked a lot about Banner's cool new character arc in interviews and all that - Does Ragnarok kinda show what that arc entails? Presumably it's based around Banner and Hulk becoming more separate/independent from each other?

Glad to hear Thor slaps Hela around as well, I was hoping their battles weren't totally one sided.

That's a correct assesment right?

@Draeck Are there any opening credits or title cards similar to Guardians?

Hey @Draeck, thanks for the reply. Could you asnwer some more?

1 - Do they finally explain if Asgard is a planet?

2 - Does Sif really die? Is she even in the movie?

3 - Is Malekith mentioned in the Asgardian play?

4 - Do Fire Demons appear?

5 - Is Sakaar in Andromeda like in GotG? Do any Sakaarans like the ones we see in GotG pop up (heard Miek looks different)?

6 - Why Odin hid Hela?

7 - Is Frigga and Selvig mentioned?

8 - Do Hel pop up in the movie? And the Midgard Serpent?

9 - Are other realms present?

10 - How Loki disposed of Odin?

11 - Does the relationship between Surtur as an apocalyptic figure and his relationship with Odin and Asgard explored?

12 - Does the Casket of Ancient Winters make an appearance?

13 - Does Volstagg's wife and children survive?

14 - What is Hogun doing on Asgard since he chose to stay in Vaneheim?

eh I was hoping that Thor wouldn't get beaten easily by Hela.

he even lost an eyes.

Surtur vs Hela doesn't appear to be a long fight.

Does Hela being Thor and Loki's sister play into conversations/interactions in the film with other characters beyond Hela explaining her origin to Skurge and generally being ragin at Odin.

I feel with Thor and the gangs comedy this time around they could've used the reveal for funny banter about and with Hela, but I haven't seen anything specific bout it.

1. Is Miek Comic-Accurate or does he look like a sakaaran soldier?

2. What part does thor lose his eye, does it show the stabbing or only the Aftermath?

3. What is Stan Lee's Cameo?

Thank you in Advance

Hey I haven't seen the film but a lot of these questions were answered in the previous thread, which I don't currently have a link to sorry but if you go on reddit>marvelstudios>Thor Ragnarok spoilers, its like the top comment.

I'll try to answer since its 4am n i'm bored tho.

1. no idea
2. She's not in the film, the studio is refusing to comment
3. I don't think so, it seems to be about Loki's heroics more than anything (really not looking forward to this part of the film lol)
4. N/A
5. N/A
6. Kid was bat**** crazy, and they both did a lot of evil **** together which ****ed her up more. Odin wanted to change towards peace but she was too ****ed so he locked her up.
7. Selvig apparently is, doubt it about Frigga since I seen someone saying Hela's mother isn't addressed? But N/A
8. I thought it did, but since she doesn't actually have control over the dead it might not have been, looks like it in the flashbacks tho. No Midgard serpent
9. N/A, Surtur's realm is.
10. Isn't explained.
11. Think its just said that Surtur can destroy Asgard but Odin depowered him
12. Apparently yeah
13. Did he even have a wife and kids in the films?
14. He only chose to stay on Vanaheim to help after the war, which was years ago now.

He says it's a "cold open", it's jump straight to the movie.

Yeah besides a conversation between Surtur and Thor it's pretty much a cold open with a big action scene.

At the end of the fight in Muspelheim, when Skurge brings back Thor with the Bifrost, said Bifrost etches the Thor Ragnarok logo in the ground. I don't recall any actual credits there, like actor's names and stuff.

They don't really get into it as far as I can remember.

-Miek pretty much looks like the leaked concept art, not like a sakaaran soldier, more like a mutant spacebug.

-during a fight on the rainbow bridge, you see him lose it, not overly gory or bloody, but you do get to see it.

-Thor gets a bit of a makeover before the arena fight. Stan Lee is his hairdresser and goes to town on his beard/long hair with a big machine.

Thor held his own against Hela during the final battle right?

Also I sent you a private message.

Yeah even though Thor can't defeat Hela, he is pretty much the only one who puts up a fight.

And once powered up he tears through everyone fighting for Hela.

Thanks, I heard after he powers up he holds his own even better.

Does he just defeat like 5 or 10 of Hela's soldiers or does he literally defeat all of them and is it short or is it given a proper length.

Well before he gets the speech by Odin 'What are you, the God of Hammers?' he doesn't really have a weapon with which he can go nuts. When he figures out the lightning thing he unleashes it on a small army of undead elite warriors on the rainbow bridge. Can't say if he destroys every one of them as Valkyrie and others are still fighting in the background, but Thor is shown to be really powerful and destroy a whole bunch of em. It is kind of the big epic Thor moment in the final battle, it starts with the shot from the trailer where his eyes glow and little lightning arcs fly around (only in the actual movie he only has one eye at this point, otherwise its the same shot). The movie kind of slows down time and ramps up the music to show off Thor's new powers.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet, also thanks for voting in the Dormmamu vs Eson battle.

Do you remember any cool attack in particular Thor did on the undead soldiers, if you can't remember that's okay.

Pretty sure they've al been mentioned. Stan Lee as the hairdresser guy is fun. Matt Damon as Loki is weird. Sam Neill may or may not be another one of the dudes in the play, couldn't tell myself.

Knockoff Infinity Gauntlet is pretty awesome but also mentioned before. I like how Hela straight up knocks it off its pedestal and says its fake just like all the murals of good guy Odin are fake. But at the same time its an obvious wink to the audience, recognising the continuity error of the Infinity Gauntlet being in the vault in the Thor movies, but Thanos seemingly getting it somewhere else in a post credit scene of Avengers 2.
