Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 1

Although the wandering homeless Odin story seems far fetched at first understand that this VERY accurate to Norse mythology which this is all ultimately based on. The Norse God Odin would periodically dress in old raggy clothes and walk amongst the humans in Midgard. Sometimes he would simply observe, some times he would interfere in their affairs, some times he would help them out, and some times he would give them presents. At such times he became known as Odin the Wanderer. Gandalf the grey (often called the wanderer) and Santa Claus are both based off of the Odin myths. Odin dressed as a street hobo trying to save humanity is a 21st century take on the character that is very true to his roots. It makes sense in this context.

It's also been done several times in the comics. It's certainly nothing new and is quite appropriate.

I'm also all for the "Doomsday Prophet" Odin. A little bit of Civilian Rorsach and a little bit of Bagger Vance. Anthony Hopkins could act the living daylights out of a role like that!

As long as there's a good reason for why Odin isn't dealing with Loki I'll be perfectly fine with that rumor. Then again we've heard that there won't be that much of Earth in the movie, which could speak against the rumor as it seems like a very important thing to have Odin on Earth.

Well, at least they'll be exploring the Nine Realms, so Muspehlheim is a possibility.

Plus, Surtur is a giant CGI dude. You don't need a lot of effort on the actor.

Should Surtur be in this movie, I see him having a similar role to Doomsday in Dawn of Justice, except maybe Marvel won't spoil him in the second trailer

It also seems to lineup with what Feige has said about Thor:Ragnarok being extremely important to Phase 3. Hela being merged with Death as a love interest for Thanos makes a ton of sense.

I hear Thor 3 will be more of a Universal scale buddy road film involving Hela, Thanos and even Death from other rumors. I hate Darcy. I like Jane. Hopefully Jane gets a cameo. As for Hulk, wondering how the hell he got to Asgard.




Actually they explained that in the last movie that there are invisible portals between the 9 realms and Earth. So Hulk probably wandered into one of those. Wonder who Thanos will lay the smackdown on in Asgard. I'm guessing one of two things. Hulk and Thor will get put in their place by Thanos and come back to Earth to warn them. Or Odin will get put in his place by the Titan and warn the Earthlings himself. Maybe a little of both. They say he'll be more intelligent which probably means actual words instead of just roaring.
