Thor's box office competition - Part 2

His Cannon is all over the place but you have to love the run that takes place from 340 to 400 in the original late 80's books. Lots of great stuff on Earth, followed by a pretty well done increadible build up to a war of the gods with Thor throwing down against Set, Egyptian god of death

this was the run that got me into Thor. My very first Thor comic book that I bought was #399. i was so enthralled that I had to buy many previous issues for the backstory. Over the years I have come to own almost all Thor has to offer and am only missing about a dozen early Journey into Mystery issues.

It was really nice to finally see him on the big screen...

Was glad to see THOR cross the $180m mark finally!! Just getting in my congrats if a bit late.

It's never too late. I will wait for your congrats to this board when Thor crosses the $450M mark worldwide. Hehe, well, at least I hope it reaches that nice round number. Come on Japan and America!

Oooops...spoke too soon. I'm afraid Thor will not reach $450M. I am almost 100% sure. It's no longer showing in Japan, and it reached only $5.7M there (Green Hornet had a higher gross with $6.8M). With Thor just grossing $30K a day in the US nowadays, it's making it's crawl to it's eventual end in about a month's time. It will probably end with $181M domestic, and it will probably end with just over $448M. Still nice. It would have been awesome to reach that nice round number 450. But some of you guys were just hoping for $350M worldwide a few months back, so I suppose if you consider that, Thor over-performed with $448M. At any rate, Thor will get a sequel, and we have Avengers to look forward to next year.

Thor movie 2010, Avengers (with Thor in it) 2011, and Thor2 for 2012. Thor in theaters 2010,2011,2012. Yay. Three years of mainstream exposure for the thundergod.

^^^ Thor is a 2011 movie by the way.

thor is already a little over 448 M, bom has not updated their OS boxoffice.

Looking at BOM it went from 332 screens in Japan to 0 following the July 24th weekend. That can't be right.

Looks like THOR is going to crawl up to the $181m mark domestically now.

Do you think they are just milking it in all markets to get to a legit $450m worldwide figure?

It should cross $181M by Sunday. It will not be crossing $182M so $181M & change will be the final tally domestic it looks like. It's at $448,321,410 WW right now. I doubt it has enough in the tank to reach $450M. Maybe...just maybe $449M. Close enough, IMO.

It's only in 81 theaters. I wouldn't be shocked if it's pulled today and this is it's last hurrah but I was banking on it running through Labor Day.

Really wanted that $450m worldwide mark, you know, just because.

Ok, it's finally crossed 181M. And there it'll stay.

WOOHOOOO!!!!
I thought for sure Japan would have seen it more than they did. HERE the only places that have it are the cheap theaters

The biggest super hero movie of the year by a considerable margin. I'm satisfied. ;)

Thor was Awsome if Fast and FUrious hand't stolen a bit of it's first big movie of the summer Thunder it could have been a 200 million dollar Domestic run.

But standing atop Cap and GL is pretty satisfying and face it Internationally it was a tremendous success.

Indeed. Marvel must be very satisfied with it, specially considering it was one of their most tricky (with the blend of cosmic/mythology) properties, and yet they pulled it off pretty well.

thor and disney definitely should be happy especially with this:

lols.

With the underperformance of Sherlock, Alvin and the Chipmunks and TinTin, Thor is looking pretty safe for a slot in the year end top 10 domestic chart
