The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane X

I really wanna see footage before making a call about his size. Its like when people heard about Joker without his make up in TDK. Everyone was up in arms how they didn't want to see Heath Ledger but in TDK he looks totally different.

Anyway..

That's four months. Fans, Bane's size is going to increase. I don't see how not at this point.

What makes you think it's definitely going to happen? Are you assuming they're going to digitally blow him up a bit, or what?

I will say that in some of the video/pics I've seen, the tumblers he was near or standing on almost looked a little miniature to me, so maybe they are planning on using tricks to increase his size.....

But like I just said (it got caught at the end of the last page), the key is that they demonstrate his strength. If we can believe he's freakishly strong (and clearly more so than the Bat), it will still work, I think.

Regardless of the acting and how much I enjoyed the character, I still prefer perma skin over face paint. I don't think anything's going to change my mind about Bane's size, even if the character turns out being pretty awesome.

Regarding the Joker, the face paint thing never bothered me at all. As long as it's white, I don't really care why or how it's white.

It can be a factor of things really.

When Hardy first arrived in the UK, Tom was in excellent shape. Just take a look through the threads. He wasn't huge or ripped but he wasn't chunky and/or average. My guess is that Hardy took steroids or HGH. Now, Hardy is set to take another break soon. If he is indeed taking PEDs, then the next time we see Hardy, he could be in stellar shape.

Same with me. He was still visually the Joker and Nolan nailed the psychology of the character.

Like I said i always preferred perma skin but at least he had the key elements. I thought his look was pretty neat for the film.

I wouldn't mind if Bane gets the Joker treatment such as changing the overall attire (including the mask) and possibly replacing the venom with a breathing device but no matter what the size is essential, just like the Joker's white skin, green hair & red lips.

*sigh*.... Javier Bardem would've been so perfect. I'm not hating on Tom Hardy. He obviously can and will pull it off with flying colors. But i guess Javier would've been TOO perfect for the role

Anyone seen Biutiful? He's so humanly creepy

i have a theory on bane. basically when his orgin is explained, basically he had a huge accident where he was scarred or burned and surgery was done. He needs to be on life support to live and breathe.

and maybe when he was in jail - he was experimented on with a size enhancing steriod called venom. and basically he escapes prison.

because that mask has alot of tubes on it. it looks like bane needs to breathe with it.

i wonder if they will end up dubbing hardy's voice?

Not trying to mock your idea but.....

I'm starting to think that the major scar applied to Bane's neck will play a large role in making him "Bane". Maybe whatever operation or incident involved his neck/spinal cord has caused him to not feel pain in the way that others do. This would account for his lack of size, but explain Bane's design as a character: a fearless, ruthless, intelligent, brutal fighter.

I was thinking something like this too, well the not feeling pain part, reminds me of that villain from one of the pierce brosnan bond films who couldn't feel anything, i think it's the world is not enough.

Yup, I thought of the same Bond villain. But if you think about it, it works within Nolan's idea of quasi-realism and avoids the questions of Venom, steroids, or whatever else could be done...but serving a similar purpose. A la the Joker's scars...

Yeah, even though nolan did the fear toxin thing in BB, i never really thought he'd do the whole venom thing, at least not to where he'd be taking it voluntarily, i kind of like the idea of not really being able to feel anything instead of the venom.

Away for a couple of days and return to see you guys are still stuck on the size thing. Wow.

It ain't gonna change fellas.

It's not going to change, you're right twostep :(

That's why I'm just going to have to keep drawing Bane the way I wish he looked... BIG lol

That's awesome. He will be that big, just not that tall, actually shorter than Heath.

It's kind of funny, this is just like before The Dark Knight came out, everyone was going on about how Joker and Two Face would be these gritty "realistic" versions. But then the movie comes out and they're more or less identical to their comic incarnations (only difference is joker with make up)

Scarecrow was more or less identical to the comic version as well.

Now it's Bane, and there are the same statements about a "realistic" take.

Nolan's Batman movies aren't "realistic" I have no idea where people got this idea, they're pretty much just like the comic.
