The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XI

For me, Bane having a South American accent is pretty important. It would be like having a James Bond movie, where Bond has a regular American accent. It just doesn't suit the character properly.

It could be distracting, its like in BTAS the Bane episode he has a very heavy accent, meh. Then in, over the edge, much different and sounds much better. Not really any accent at all, and not to mention looks alot better.

It's wrong is what it is... :csad:

:whatever:

Hehe, I would love to know who was responsible for starting all the Lulz-cat pics.

Cats...

Meh, Hardy is telling us fans to worry, but I refuse to -- at least alittle.

I'm taking that with a grain of salt because one thing I've learned about him after several interviews this week is that he is an incredibly huge smart ass.

That's true. It's funny how he said "mostly people on the internet". I wonder if he's come here to read some of the stuff we've said, and was just being a smart ass about it? :woot:

I'd just like to say that bringing up Joe Pesci in Goodfellas as a way of justifying a short Bane is stupid. It completely misses the point of why it is a concern.

Only if you actually care about the height. Some of us don't. If the presence is there we're happy. Hence, Tommy. To make you guys on the other side understand where we're coming from.

I don't mind the coat. I actually think Bane's new attire fits the character much more than the luchador look, not that I have anything against the comic book look. But, just like Batman has ears, a cape and a golden belt.... just like the joker has a white face with red lips and green hair, Bane's size is absolutely essential to the character. I'm sure I'll like the character in the film regardless of the changes but no matter what I will always envision Bane as a guy that looks like he could tear Batman apart.

Please don't start with the rolley eyes. I've had quite enough of that type of dismissal to differing opinions in these threads.

Well hearing Hardy is not tall enough for the thousandth time is ok though.

Yeah when hear the name Bane I think big, strong, and powerful. Not shorter than Batman and wearing an oversized leather coat.

I think they should have had Anthony Hopkins playing Bane. I mean, he's short and old, but he's a great actor!

I keed.

I just don't get why it's acceptable to bash Keaton for his height when not only is he just as tall as Hardy, Batman is nowhere near taller than him than Bane is taller than Hardy.

Is it because Keaton isn't part of Nolan's Batman? Hmmm...

Tommy is a character who surprises you with his ferocity despite appearing harmless. That is not Bane. That would be like turning Joker into a Norman Bates character.

See, I'm not so sure.

Bane's cold, calculating nature and relentlessness combined with extreme physical strength and agility that makes him Batman's equal in every way is essential to the character. Size just makes him look like more of a threat. It's by no means essential.

As the debate continues (probably until the film's release date), and as new people join in on the conversation, you're going to hear it a lot more times. Eye-rollin' emoticons won't stop it.

If Anne's Catwoman costume looks like Halle Berry's, be prepared for an even bigger sea of gripes vs. "but she's a great actress!" retorts.

No, be prepared for that no matter what her costume looks like. That picture with the potential-Anne-body-double carrying what might have been a domino mask already caught a bunch of hate. That's just how this board works.

If Anne's Catwoman's costume looks even close to Halle Berry's there should be alot of complaints, and Hathaway is an ok actress.

It's everything combined.

It sounds really nice and cerebral to say "only personality matters to me" but that's just as bad as saying "who cares about personality, I want muscles". Both cases are ignoring the bigger picture.

It's still disrespectful and does nothing to further a conversation.

Anne's costume will be picked apart regardless.

Didn't see it. Link?

And I really believe that if Nolan were to go with something very close to the picture below, verrry few would complain about the costume's look.

Can we not just get the "sulk" icon removed? It is the most tedious and contemptible of all the smilies in Christendom.

I think it'll look closer to this.

oh I got another dumb question because I just starting visiting the board again.

In the teaser, is Bane crawling out the well that leads to the batcave?

That's just like saying the Joker can still capture the spirit of the character without the white face paint and red lips. Capturing the look & nailing the spirit of the character are both essential.
