So what do you people think the chances are of this guy possibly stealing the show this time around?

I think the cast is far too big for one man to steal the show. I mean, we have Christian Bale who just got an Oscar for the Fighter, Gary Oldman (who is apparently killing his role in TTSP), Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy, and Anne Hathaway all in one roughly two-hour movie. With all due respect towards Hardy, and I do think his Bane will be excellent, I think he's going to be amazing beside his peers, rather than a figurehead like Ledger.
After The Dark Knight, we naturally expect a seminal figure who will be the face of the movie. The Joker was that face, and he was so important to the story that he defined the film. But like I said, TDKR is a whole new ballpark.
That said, everyone is going to have their favorites. To many, Tom's Bane will be that all-star character everyone cites after seeing the movie. But I'd expect that the consensus will be more like Batman Begins (recognizing the entire main cast), than The Dark Knight (focusing on Heath Ledger). And this is for reasons not just within the movie.
I'm not saying it's impossible for Hardy to steal the show, I just don't think he can manage being the prominent performance beside this remarkable cast, even if his take is just as impressive.
Bane will. They want a showy villain to match the Joker in Dark Knight. New standard has to be met.
I'm just concerned his voice will be altered too much like Batman, which did mask a lot of Bale's raw performance. Nolan needs to dial that back a bit.
You think Bane will steal the movie?
So, I was delivering to the Venetian casino last week and I think I found out where they got the idea for Bane's new mask. The Blue Man Group!

Agreed, she will. Bane is a badass that will no doubt be confronting and mete out shocking behaviour. But I feel the audience will connect to Catwoman's naughty anti-hero routine. She's pretty hard to hate, you know, she isn't mass murdering a stadium of people. She's a well known top tier character too. Someone to relax and have fun with for a little while, away from the scary Bane fellow.Catwoman steals the movie.

Let me make this clear. Never has anyone said that Tom Hardy is too small to play Bane (as in, he shouldn't be playing the character). All people have been saying is that he needs to be taller on screen, and forced perspective has been suggested before.I kindly dedicate this gif to anyone that thinks Tom Hardy is too small to play Bane:

Forced perspective rules.
The Joker was a mass-murdering/chaos-ensuing maniac, who wasn't meant to be liked, and was scary and creepy. Granted he had the 'fun' and 'entertaining' aspects to his character, as well as being from the top tier of the rogues gallery. But he's not exactly the type of character you'd want to relax and connect with.Agreed, she will. Bane is a badass that will no doubt be confronting and mete out shocking behaviour. Good point about having the material in front of you to start with and build a performance from. And like you hinted, the way the material is brought off the paper by an actor/actress can make a whole world of difference, good or bad.*It's really hard to judge at this point. I don't see Bane as the type of scene stealing characters as the Joker. Tom could scene steal with his hopefully great and powerful performance. I want more to ****ing dread him too.
Harvey Dent was probably the focal point of TDK, yet Mr. J was the one the majority was talking about. This will be Anne Hathaway's movie no doubt, Hardy won't be secondary I'm sure, but she'll be Nolan's focal point.
Both will be huge after this (and well deserved), but ever since I saw the setpics of her I just knew that she's gonna be the "Heath of the moment."
