It just sounds British to me.

its definitely british. there are quite a bit of different dialects from England, i would say his falls into the 'posh' or London - area accent.

it sounds like bane is speaking through a sort of laryngeal box that allows for slight infliction of voice. when he 'shouts' or pushes more air through, it gets strained like when he says 'crashing this plane!" i like it!

reading back through the original comics with Bane, there never really is any indication of what he is SUPPOSED to sound like. we always assumed (and then the animated series established) that he would have a normal south american voice.

His accent kinda sounds like a staunch Victorian Count with asthma.

-Mmmmm, yes yes, the fire rises, mmmmhmmmmmm.

He certainly talks like he's well educated but I wouldn't say he was posh!

The CIA in this seems more incompetent than in the Bond films. But Bane's first line is perfect. It's such the proverbial "you're doing wrong" line.

It doesn't sound posh to me.

Does anyone else think the "We started a fire" - "The fire rises" exchange seem awkwardly worded and performed?

And in the evening he'll sip Chardonnay before dashing to Royal Albert Hall with Talia.

perhaps his appearance at heinz field will be to lecture the crowd on 'what real' football is. come to think of it, his voice almost sounds like a vuvuzela...

Being British myself...I didn't think he sounded British at all. Russian/Eastern European maybe?

i noticed that too. it definitely seems quick, almost like it was chopped up edited. same with the exchange of 'it would be painful' , 'youre a big guy' , 'for you' between bane and carchetti. hopefully when we have a visual too, it'l all make sense and feel smooth. (about 2 1/2 hours for me)

No, I think it is great. Sounds like a military leader and his under speaking in code about their specific mission.

They get Dr. Pavel and are destroying all the evidence and one has to say behind to make it look legit...

"So, we started a fire?"

Bane: "The fire rises."

Almost like a 10-4.

It did to me, too. It also spawned several playbacks of "We Didn't Start The Fire" in my head.

For the most part I think Nolan's dialogue is nothing extraordinary; it's always been his actors who create spellbinding performances with what's written. Hopefully that works throughout this film too.

As a British guy, I have no idea where in Britain you guys think that accent is from.

That's the only part that sounded stilted to me, especially on Bane's part, just the delivery of it. I guess he's about to sacrifice one of his henchmen to have a body on the plane? If that's the case, I don't know why that goon is worried about starting fires lol, thematically or metaphorically...

Everyone in England seems to speak with a Cockney accent nowadays so it's no wonder. Likewise in America where vast number of people speak with a Californian accent regardless of their geographical location.

Anyway, it's a combination of English accents regardless.

yea i think there's some meaning to it. if not, i agree with the op though.

Exactly.

If I read 'there's a bit of British in the voice' one more time, I'm going to rise some fire!
