I can't believe people are still talking about whether or not Hardy is "jacked enough" to play Bane.

The movie comes out next month. Get over it, already.

It'll continue even after the movie is released. Those of us who acknowledge that Hardy is big enough can only ignore such comments.

He's less of an extreme deviation than B&R's Bane.

Seriously. This thread is devoid of intellect half the time thanks to posters like beastmode (wait, 80% of it is caused by him) claiming how he's more physically intimidating than Hardy.

I think C. Lee or Hunter Rider could make that happen.

What is this 'extreme deviation' you're talking about? At best it's just a slight deviation in terms of physical appearance (the mask, and military style outfit). Everything else about the character seems to be intact from all of the footage we've seen.

Here we go with BnR Bane insults again. The way Nolanites think is if you are not down with Hardy's physique as Bane then you are for BnR Bane's physique as Bane. No middle whatsoever.

And let me be the one to say this but BnR Bane's physique wasn't even ideal as well. He had drawn-on veins, looks like a sex slave, and was not cut at all (he actually looked fat. Sure he had muscles but his fat was excessive that it buried his muscles). So there.

Don't even get me started with the physique. I do not want to beat a dead horse. Hardy's physique is not a slight deviation from comic Bane. Even the Rock's physique is not a slight deviation and the Rock by far is more built and cut than Hardy. Chris Hemsworth (in Thor 1) and Mark Wahlberg (good actor too, hard to believe for Nolan fans) are not as much of a brute as the Rock physique wise but they would suffice.

In addition, Bane's mask, instead of serving as a performance enhancing/roids/venom supplement, it's 800 mg of Tylenol in fluid/gas form, constantly being induced orally. Mask looks cool though.

Then on top of that, he's an equal to Bman, combat wise. In Bman mythos, Bane only beat Batman by using his brains and in turn exhausting Bman by having all the bad oompa loompas jump Bman first.

And then there's the height issue. All down for forced perspective, but even that won't be used. Bman and Ben are same heigh and that is obvious from all trailers we've seen.

Done and done.

Also, how is Bane not being as tall or muscular as you would prefer more of an "exteme deviation" than Scarecrow not dressing like a scarecrow or The Joker wearing makeup instead of being permawhite?

Mentioning this seems contrary to your point. The way Bane deduced Batman's identity in the comics and slowly broke him down over a period of months is what gave him the edge, more so than venom and being extremely jacked. He caught Bruce off guard.

By that logic, the essence of Bane doesn't require that he look like The Rock.

Yeah, that's really annoying.

There was a time when you could be a badass and be of an average height, size or build.

And then came this obsession with looks. And now every gym is full of buffoons who think getting bigger will make them meaner. They'll still be the same insecure people, with the same low IQ and lack of charisma... Just bigger (not talking about everybody going to a gym, cause I happen to do it too, just about that certain kind of person that every gym goer will recognize).

An actor has to be able to act first and foremost. Who gives a crap if Hardy's not as big as comic book Bane? He's big enough to be convincing as a physical threat. And then some. And he can act.

The Rock would suck as Bane. Or perhaps he could pull it off (who knows? An actor's performance highly depends on the director's instructions). But not many fans would buy him as Bane, because of who we all know he is.

And then there's the director's vision, which happens to be most important aspect of a film. What if Nolan wants his Bane to be something else than a giant of a man? What if his vision of the character does nto require him to be that big?

Just take it for what this is : Nolan's Bane. Not comic book Bane.
