Venom Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Saw this movie last night with a Surprisingly large crowd so I wouldn't be surprised if this movie did over 80 million this weekend. Overall I thought it was a bit better than the 1st movie even if it will still a little cheesy. There seems to be something that people are overlooking maybe due to that post credit scene at the end

Semi major spoiler for the end of the film here.

At the End of the movie we see Mulligan with blue eyes and says Monsters. I could be wrong but are they teasing Toxin for a possible 3rd movie here

I had a feeling this would make over 80.

The “In Association With Marvel” sequel (as it’s billed in the opening credits) hopscotched around the calendar before finally deciding on the first weekend October (where the first 2018 movie launched) and is heading toward the fourth best domestic opening of October with $71.3M per Sony this morning. However, industry estimates have the Andy Serkis directed sequel higher at $81.3M, which would be the second-best for the month, behind 2019’s Joker ($96.2M) and ahead of Sony’s own Venom ($80.2M). Wherever Venom 2, falls it’s a superhero gross which isn’t worthy of complaint.

Venom 2 had a massive Friday, the second best of the pandemic at $37.3M, behind Disney/Marvel’s Black Widow at $39.5M. Anyone concerned that we could reach summer levels at the October pandemic B.O. can rest easy.

Exits here for Venom 2 are good enough to send ticket sales into the October annals with a B+ CinemaScore, the same as the first movie, and a PostTrak of 76% positive and a 65% definite recommend from general audiences.

I haven't seen the movie but I wonder if Sony would make a Carnage spin off ?;nd

Honestly, I could see them bringing Carnage back at some point. Seems like something Sony would do lol.

Especially if Venom crosses over, whose to say where Carnage is in this situation.

Would have to be a Kassidy from another universe. Cause the one in this movie ain't got a head.

I wasn't eXpecting them to kill off Carnage. With these glowing boX office numbers, Carnage seems like a perfect candidate for another villain film for Sony. a much better option than Morbius and Kraven.

Not all of Sony's franchises will be critic immune, but I think the Venom films are. Right now has a 86% audience score. It seems like the average movie goers like these films. I don't think that means Morbius can get a 30% or whatever and expect to succeed anyway. But at least Venom has an audience appeal that transcends the critic rating.

I can guarantee you that Jared Leto does not have the ability to give as entertaining a performance as Tom Hardy does in the Venom movies.

Oh Sony, way to troll people. This clip isn’t in the movie. It’s from Under the Silver Lake

Now I just want Garfield for Peter B Parker now....

Of course :hehe:

Well, Love & Thunder was already taken :o

I had a feeling this was gonna do very well. I just saw it and its a fun time at the movies. I think this is one of those movies thats hitting at just the right time. People want fun, and to laugh again especially after the past year and a half. Audiences are gonna have a great time with this movie. Its fun, funny and fleet.

I didn't like the previous film but i was hoping things would be better with the director change. They have Woody as Cletus Kassady, a choice obviously inspired by his role in Natural Born Killers, and yet, he doesn't have the same energy or presence, nor is any line that he utters memorable. Patrick's subplot is interesting on paper but it's a bore in the film, Annie and Dan shouldn't even be there and it didn't feel like anything was at stake before the damsel-in-distress plot happened near the end. It has some nice, funny moments and all, but it's really just more of the same.

Venom 2 is flirting again with a fresh rating at 61% on RT. Still a lot of reviews left but this is wild. If you told me a year and a half ago that Venom could have a better tomatometer than WW84 I would've scoffed at that.
It just shows how much Patty Jenkins dropped the ball with Ww84. Venom 2 though is back to a rotten rating.

I don't think I have seen cb movies until Ww84 and this, that is 1point away from a fresh or rotten rating.

The folks who said if you loved the first movie then you’ll love the sequel weren’t lying because this movie was freaking dope and that mid credit scene was wild.

Something that the prior leaks of the post credits scene didn't mention, and it's kinda huge, is Venom

mentions something about being connected to other universes. So it's very possible that he know's about the Raimiverse Venom. And he clearly recognizes Spiderman. Makes me think he knows that Tophers Venom was killed by Spiderman.

I’m surprised more people haven’t been talking about that.

I just got back from Let There Be Carnage. It's better than the first one even though I thought the first one was a bit funnier (though the scene with Michelle Williams in the convenience store was hysterical in this one), but that mid-credits scene was fan service to the millionth degree and I'm here for it.

As did I. The film was fun and I want more, especially following the mid-credits scene! But, I have to confess, that I feel Carnage was disrespected a little. He looked great and was appropriately violent in spite of the PG-13 rating. But he needed far more screentime and the simplicity with which he was defeated really felt like someone (be it the studio, Serkis, or the writers) saying, "OK fans, you finally saw Carnage. Moving on now."
