Days of Future Past What´s gonna happen in Age of Apocalypse? [Discussions based on DOFP]

Posting this here too, tryin to get some feedback. So here is what I would do. Basically the story would span most of the decade:

0. (3000BC) Obviously we need a prologue with En Sabah Nur, his initial crusade, and his hibernation.
10 minutes
1a. (1980) then we fast forward to Professor X and Beast meeting Scott Summers for the first time. He is 12 years old, in an orphanage/wayward home for boys. Bandages around his eyes, very timid.
1b. Magneto has become obsessed with researching and resurrecting the ancient mutant Apocalypse. Mystique and Wolverine catch on and begin tracking him to see what he's up to.
15 minutes

2a. (1984) Xavier and Beast are training with Cyclops on a day with particularly bad weather. When Storm (22 years old) shows up at the mansion grounds, cloaked and evading the authorities. Beast and Cyke (16) assist her in driving them away. Cyclops is already much more sure of himself.
2b. Magneto finds Apocalypse's resting place and begins the occult process of resurecting him. Mystique and Wolverine try to stop him. Apoc awakens during their spat and possesses Mystique and Wolverine. Magneto manages to escape to the sounds of them screaming in agony while Apoc modifies their bodies.
20 minutes

3a. (1986) There's news of Apocalyptic events in the east but the US is relatively unharmed thus far. Xavier begins to grow frantic. He uses Cerebro and searches for the most powerful mutant he can find. He goes to find her but tells Scott/Ororo/Hank to stay behind and continue training. When he meets Jean Grey (age 17) they have a mind-off. They meet on the astral plane and he learns about her Phoenix persona. He convinces her that together they can harness this power and become a force for good.
3b. Apocalypse continues his reign of terror with Wolverine (now with adamantium) and Mystique. He has reached the southern US where he finds his third horseman, Gambit who is attempting to protect his village (with all the charm and sarcastic hero personality he can muster). For the final horseman, Apoc sets his sight on the most powerful mutant he can find, a telepath.
40 minutes

4. Apocalypse shows up at Xavier's front door. The Horsemen (Wolverine, Mystique, Gambit) do battle with the X-Men (Beast, Storm, Cyclops, Phoenix) while Xavier convinces Apocalypse he is the telepath he was searching for (and not Jean). Xavier is taken as the fourth Horseman.
20 minutes
5a. X-Men feel down and out. They want to give up. Cyclops takes up the mantle of leader. Beast suggests they find Magneto to figure out how to stop Apocalypse. Jean and Scott have a romantic moment. Jean (with no restraints on her powers) uses Cerebro to locate Magneto.
5b. [idk what mags is doing. Drinking?] they show up and convince him to join their cause. He joins to save both Mystique and Xavier. He knows how to put Apoc back to sleep.
15 minutes

6. Apocalypse is now enacting his plan to eradicate the human race and enslave mutant-kind. And thus the final battle: (Magneto, Beast, Cyclops, Storm and Jean) vs (Apocalypse, Xavier, Wolverine, Mystique and Gambit).
20 minutes

7. resolution. Apocalypse is re-entombed. Xavier is saved, he is proud of his X-Men. Mystique is once again enthralled with Magneto. Wolverine is pissed at Magneto, joins the X-Men. Gambit takes off. Cable shows up and tells them it's not over. "My name is Nathan Summers. I am your son from the future. The battle is far from over."
5-10 minutes

[BLACKOUT]X. Mid credit sequence: Gambit meets Mister Sinister.[/BLACKOUT]

Total Runtime: 2hr 30 minutes

What this does is opens up three new films. Original Trilogy sequel, First Class sequel and "Gambit" spinoff along with the already planned Wolverine threequel. Fox now finds themselves in the predicament Marvel/Disney is in. Too many movies, too little time.

It's a solid idea, I'll give you that, but if anything if feels a little... safe

It's a fun script, don't get me wrong, but there aren't many surprises. It's just Apoc rocks up, they fight, lose, Xavier sacrifices himself but is never in any real peril, fight again, win. There's nothing at stake.

I do like how Apoc would inadvertently bring the X-Men together by recruiting Wolverine and Gambit en route. Not fond of Mystique and Logan being a team, but I do like Apoc giving him his adamantium, so a variant of that would be good.

Nice work, think there's the makings of a good plot there, just needs some stakes :)

Steaks? Fine we'll have a scene with them eating steaks! lol jk.

Thanks for the input small fry! Yeah I'd completely agree my layout is safe. But I think it could be argued that safe is what the X-verse needs right now. For all intents and purposes The Avengers movie was safe and it is universally adored. Mine is setup much like that movie in many ways. That being said the stakes would be made apparent by Apoc's power displays and his speeches (hopefully). In his initial scene he nearly kills Magneto. In his second he destroys the X Mansion (for the first time on screen). Finally his plan to eradicate humans is off to a brilliant start until the X-Men stop him. Perhaps using Gambit to explode entire cities, Xavier to drop mobs of humans in their tracks or mind control entire populations. Using Mystique to poison water supplies, and Wolverine to eviscerate armies.

Plus its worth noting this is almost a two part movie (but without the lame aspect of abruptly ending halfway through the story.) Still, its merely Apocalypse's first appearance right?

I was actually disappointed that Archangel didn't fit until I realized Apocalypse could come back (vs the OT cast) with a vengeance. Obviously taking Warren, giving him metal wings and also Rogue who gets super powered (ms marvel style).

The major points of my plot though are what I want to see most:

- time lapse over 6-10 years. Showing X-Men meet, unite, learn and grow together.
- Phoenix entity being embraced and encouraged to show Jean off as the most powerful hero from the beginning.
- focusing on the major characters rather than adding useless side characters.
- allowing for Apocalypse's return

Bringing Apoc back for an OT film would be ideal. The FC film can be framed by Stewart and Jackman discussing what happened, and then flash forward to like 2024, and have Apoc rise again, introducing X-Force in the interim

why 6-10 years? That's insane, Idon't care how many years of combat training you got nothing can prepare you for En Sabah Nur... especially the one they had at end of the film. Did you see that display of power?

Agreed.

eh, Idk. Not really feeling it.

They're not going to bring the FC characters back simply to use them as a glorified flashbacks. It'd be a waste of MacAvoy, Fassbender, and Lawrence's talents.

Sorry, I wasn't clear at all there! I meant have a FC film framed by Stewart and Jackman, then make a second film where Apoc returns

I want to film to be very Cyclops/Jean/Storm-centered, especially with Cyclops. Wolverine, Professor X, and Magneto already had their chance to shine, so I wouldn't mind them taking a bit of backseat this time.

What do you think of my rundown above?

I don't know why, but not sure I'd want or see this Magneto resurrecting/awakening another big bad mutant.
I'd rather he learn of the alien tech, go after that and inadvertently wake him. If it had to be Magneto waking him at all...

Could well be Mystique who accidentally awakens him during her crusade to free all mutants

I know that Apocalypse is set in the 80's, but would you have liked DOFP to have been set in the 80's instead of 1973 like the DOFP comic or don't you mind?

I like Apocalypse waking up on His own. From there he schemes his way to the brink of world domination

That actually sounds really good, i love.

I don't really like the idea of Mystique being reduced back to "henchwoman," especially to the man who tried to kill her in DOFP. Plus, it'd be Magneto's fault that Apocalypse awakened and enslaved her in the first place, so she'd have even LESS reason to go back to him. I've always liked Mystique working on her own and the movies seem to FINALLY be heading in that direction.

Mystique did lead a Brotherhood of her own at one point, it's possible the next movie will have something like a 4 sided chess game being played, The X-Men, Magneto, the Brotherhood, and Apocalypse.
-X-Men would be doing their thing
-Mags trying to regain his position and "course correct" to what OT Mags was
-Mystique leading her "free mutants"
-Apocalypse doing what he does, screwing up everyone's plans.

That does sound pretty interesting. Also, Mystique being the "third way" somewhere in between Xavier and Magneto's ideologies.
