What is DC Entertainment doing? What is their plan? - Part 1

It's a tremendous feat, but they cannot sustain this level of success post Avengers 3. What would be their PIV? Inhumans? Recast the Avengers? I don't see it. Maybe Ant-Man becomes the new Stark and you go from there. They can use Rudd to carry an Avengers 4. But Hemsworth and Evans, who knows? If they don't resign them and recast, we'd be looking at another Webb Spider-Man, increasing costs, diminishing returns. Luckily they can wait longer than the five years Sony waited if need be.

Avengers 3 is going to make over $2B. It will be a long time before the returns diminish enough for them to come close to not making money. Most would be happy with $1B. t: If DC get BVS & the 1st JL right they'll be in just as strong a position for the future with a tonne of huge heroes who have yet to see a solo movie, and they have the rights to them all!

Spider-man is a different case as it's a solo character that has already had 5 films in a short space of time and the obligation to keep churning them out every few years no matter how fatigued the audience gets, just for the studio to retain the rights. Much easier keeping a team with a rotating roster (so not F4, but any of JL, Avengers & X-Men) and a huge pool of potential characters fresh than something with the same character up front in every film.

I haven't been around the Avengers boards really, but I am so goddamn excited for that film to come out. It's going to be amazing. I've never been the biggest Marvel guy, but the first one is easily one of the top 2 or 3 comic book films.

I mean, its a good joke, but I suspect what you'd get is a financial disaster. Without Marvel Studios' track record, the odds of making Hot Fuzz numbers at best rise precipitously.

I would say WB DC plans are to reboot Batman as quickly as possible and throw in the occasional Superman movie. All of this once they have made Justice League. I don't see their other characters having any chance unless there is real changes over there.

I agree the idea is to quickly reboot Batman and launch JL. But WB can't rely soley on Batman films and the SDCC announcement sounds like 4, 5 or more films will be announced. WW? Shazam? Cyborg? WW has Cap potential depending on script and director.

I just want to state that while WB/DC has shown it has had plans for projects as seen by BvS and JL coming down the pike, along with DC characters presence on TV across networks, I have doubts about this rumored slate of DC films.

Same here...I remember when some article said they'd announce BvS and Flash movies last year, and only BvS ended up being true (well there's also the Flash show but that was announced a lot later). I'll believe it only when they go up on stage and announce it.

Also if they really are doing a WW movie, pleeeeease don't have Goyer write it...-____-

I believe that WB is going ahead with BvS, JL and MOS 2. Also I have said that WB may not make anymore solo Batman movies for some years.

JGL is attached as a producer to Sandman movie, he has the script so it will be fast tracked.

Flash and GL makes sense, so that those who were not interested in solo GL movie will watch it.

Shazam movie is a surprise, maybe it is the movie that Rock is attached to. It could be unconnected to DC movie-verse.

Why ?

BvS is happening, so is JL, Sandman is surely happening, and they were always going to make MOS 2 (unless you think that Superman is going to be forgotten a franchise by WB)

Only surprises are WW, Flash & GL, Shazam movies, we will have to wait and see.

I don't think WB/DC has to follow Marvel Studios in any way to be successful, nor up to now have they, from TDKT to MOS. But... I will say for the JLA film proper, it might do them well, even if the over all tone is serious, to drop some witty banter into the mix between the heroes.

Seriously, WB has very good directors associated with them, for example Alfanso Curaon, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Chris Nolan, Wachowskis and Snyder.

Give them some projects.

Hmmm about the Nikki Finkle article. It would be great if it happens but 3 D.C. movies in a year? How could they keep the quality as Man of Steel/Green Lantern were not even good movies and they were even released in the same year. Also, there is possibility of audience fatigue for superhero films or the audience being more selective to which movies they want to watch. 2 films in 1 year would be more ideal and I don't think its a good idea to release a superhero movie in December.
