The Dark Knight What Will TDK's Rating / Certificate Be?

18? Only? Heck why not go for an adults only version of TDK which makes it 20 +.

I'd like a PG-13 rating. R rating might be a bit too much for batman....................

:oldrazz:

Oh please god, not another R-Rating debate/argument.

An R-Rated Batman film is not needed, necessary, required, or justified.

I love the "grittiness" of Batman, but the only Batman material that I think would ever get close to an R-Rating is "The Dark Knight Returns".

You can get away with a lot in PG-13. It's the highest the rating needs to be.

No Uncut DVD, Director's Cut or anything like that is required. It just doesn't need to be that vulgar or violent.

Why don't they just make a directors cut that makes it PG-13 and leave in all the bits that would make the older viewers enjoy without the cut. If you get what I mean? I'm probably just rambling on.

Haha.

ELI ROTH SHOULD DIRECT BATMAN!!!!

actually on a serious note. I read Arkham Asylum for the first time just now. I really liked it, but I think you could really expand the story. If they made that a movie or some kind of episode or something it would need an R rating.. Well you don't need R but definitely has that tone.

Yes that first Arkham book really would be R rated, but MOST of the Batman universe is PG-13.

Ya I mean all the other stuff is really for kids. Like kids could read it and its cool. But Arkham ya that would be rated R. I think that would be a cool thing to see, if you do it like a scanner darkly kind of, it might get sickening after a while though.

I would bet money that TDK will be PG-13. And I think it should be PG-13 as well.

I see no reason to have an R rated Batman when I haven't read a single Batman comic that, if translated perfectly onto screen, would warrant an R rating. Even comics like Arkham Asylum.

To get an R rating in America you have to have one of two things, or both, and that is Nudity and extreme violence. If you don't have that, it'll most likely be PG-13. Since I see no need for either, I don't see a reason why Batman should ever be R.

Well with the tone of Arkham and decapitated heads in doll houses and using sharpened pencils to poke out eyes (though not shown). I guess on how you show it, but oh well

I disagree. Why would Arkham Asylum be R? It wasn't very violent compared to R rated movies today, when you look at movies like The Hills Have Eyes (remake) or the Saws. And it wasn't any scarier then the Ring or Grudge movies, and they were both PG-13.

PG-13. I'll bet on it. If it's anything but that, then you can repeatedly rub a cheese grater over the head of my penis. :o

i just finished cursing you out over at another thread-but man you gave me a good laugh with that chesse grater over penis joke! No hard feelings....

It really isn't anything to do with scare value its more like, hmm disturbing for some. I mean how often do you have a mother eatting beatles and chances are if that were translated onto the screen it would def be enhanced for todays modern audiences.

Well, look at the Grudge and Ring movies. The Ring had scenes of a person pushing a nail through their finger until it broke off their fingernails, and in the Grudge we see the ghost of a girl with her lower jaw ripped off. Both of these I would find more disturbing then a woman eating beetles.

The beetle thought was on the top of my head. Now I gotta think about it. Coming home and finding your wife or daughter I forget which with her head cleaved off then walking through a eerie house and the head in the doll house staring back at you.

I think its how its presented cause I really don't know how you picture it vs the way I see it.

Hell, decapitated heads don't even warrant R-ratings anymore! In LOTR, Fellowship of the Ring, one of the Orcs gets it's head chopped off and it's headless body stands for a few seconds before falling to the ground. And if that isn't enough, in Return of the King, there's a scene where the Orcs catapult several decapitated human heads onto the ground.

Arkham Asylum would not even necessitate an R rating. As stated, there are several horror films that only have PG-13 ratings these days. Arkham Asylum doesn't contain tons of gore, blood, guts, and sex. If it were rated as a film it would be for Violence and freighting images.

I guess I need to dig out my copy and read it again. I don't recall there being any sex in that story at all.

On topic of discussion. Yes, you can get away with quite a bit in a PG-13 film now.

Man I must be getting old the rating system has changed soo much... everything is passing for pg 13 huh.. well except anything by Eli Roth

LMAO!

I typed that wrong.

Yeah it was like that, but the GN didn't show a lot of it. I mean, the movie wouldn't show the perp sawing off the little girl's head or anything, heck Sin City didn't even show us that.

If it just showed the dead body of the wife, and then the eyes of his daughter looking out from the doll house that would still be under an R rating. Like I said, the Grudge had just as many disturbing images and Arkham Asylum would. It showed a chick with her lower face ripped off, a woman getting beat to death by her Husband, a child getting drowned ect. ect. And it still was PG-13.

Unless the filmmakers who did an Arkham Asylum movie intentionally picked up the blood and gore I don't see it being an R rated film.

Now, if it were ten to fifteen years ago an Arkham Asylum movie probably would have gotten an R rating, but the violence in movies has increasingly become more graphic in later years to the point that movies that would have been R rated in the past are now Pg-13.

yeah i know! im still shocked that those were pg 13, i remember being friggin terrified at those catapulted heads, but then again they were only shown for just a few seconds (and it was actuially a scene from the book). and the orc head getting chopped off in FOTR, yeah that was pretty gross cuz not only did it stand up for a few seconds, it had black blood spirting out of it like a leaky faucet, lol. still, it was done so quick in a kind of unreal cartoony way that i guess was ok for pg13 rateing.

personally, i dont want a R rated batman cuz i wouldnt want to see alot of nasty disgusting stuff like blood and guts and all that. sure Batman Returns had some kind of diusturbing images, mainly just cats biting selina's bloody fingers and penguin haveing black saliva fall from his mouth and biting someones nose, but.....ok im actually quite shocked Returns got a pg 13 rateing, but still it was nothing TOO gross, it was borderline but nothing too bad. but it got close, real close.
