The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

I can't add to it anything that hasn't been said. It's a masterpiece. Well... I suppose I'd love the candle thing.

2 Guns (2013)

The all time greatest buddy teams;

Eddie Murphy/Nick Nolte
Mel Gibson/Danny Glover
Sylvester Stallone/Kurt Russell
Bruce Willis/Damon Wayans
Bruce Willis/Samuel L. Jackson
Will Smith/Martin Lawrence

We can now ad Denzel Washington/Mark Wahlberg to that. The film wasn't anything we haven't seen before (Except Paula Patton's boobies!), but the two leads together are amazing.

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father

This was... rough.

During Saturday night/Sunday morning I attended an all night Sci-Fi Marathon at the Prince Charles cinema in London and saw the following:

Sunshine - 7/10 thought the ending was rather daft/unoriginal. But otherwise an okay film.

Moon - 9/10 Loved this, thoroughly well thought out Sci-Fi. Sam Rockwell is brilliant.

Alien (Director's Cut) - 9.5/10 Enjoyed this a lot. The differences between this and the theatrical release were fairly small, but interesting.

The Thing (1982) - 7.5/10 Another good early 80's Sci-Fi horror. Kurt Russell as good as ever.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) - 8.5/10 Didn't remember that Jeff Goldblum was in this. I enjoyed the interactions between Donald Sutherland and Leonard Nimoy's characters. Fantastic ending. I do remember being honestly rocked and shocked by it when I first saw it.

The Fly (1986) - 9.5/10 Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davies in an emotionally charged Sci-Fi horror movie. One of my favourites out of these six.

All in all, tiring, but great fun. Definitely interested in doing another...
The latter four films I have not seen on the big screen for many years. That was probably one of the best thing about the whole experience. Sunshine, I had not seen before and it has only been a few years since Moon was on cinema screens.

Hooray for independent cinemas I say!

I want Scarlet J to be voice on my computer too.

Haunter

It's an interesting ghost story. I wouldn't call it horror necessarily but it was definitely an original take on hauntings.

I quite enjoyed it actually. 7.5/10

Not as horrible as most are making it out to be, especially over at IMDB, where people are acting as though Spike Lee killed their dog or something...

RoboCop (2014)

Good but not great remake of the satirical and great 1987 film. For the most part the film was an uneven mixed bag.
The film focuses on the different phases critically injured Policeman Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman)goes through, holding
on to his human side, then the mechanical by the book, efficient drone, then back to holding on to his human side,as the
OmniCorp corporation sees him as the path to billions if he and more Robocops, and robots are put on the streets to fight crime.

Director Jose' Padiha and writer Joshua Zetumer amp up the Murphy family part of the story to get the audience to care
about and connect with the characters, but this made the film feel more drawn out,and slows down the pacing.
The cast does a fine job and the action and SFX are sleak, and it was great to see the bad guys get what they deserved, but this 2014 version of Robocop is a good rental on a slow Saturday night.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 7

About Last Night (2014)

This remake of the 1986 romcom that was based on the 1974 David Mamet play Sexual Perversity in Chicago, holds on to most of the ingredients that made the 1986 film a favorite.Danny (Michael Ealy) and Debbie (Joy Bryant)try to maintain a relationship after a one night stand, they have great chemistry ,cant get enough of each other, and uplift each other through the blahs of a boring job, other troubles and they both chafe at each other's relationship distractions, his is a former lover named Alison(Paula Patton),and hers is Steven (Adam Rodriguez)a co worker/boss,who pursues her.Ealy and Bryant make the going through the motions as a couple vibe work.

Writer Leslye Headland wisely amps up the relationship of the Bernie (Kevin Hart) and Joan (Regina Hall) characters, which was only a slight flirtation in the 1986 film.Hart and Hall are hilarious and go all out with plenty of blue humor, the perfect offset to Danny and Debbie and of course the audience sees it before they do that they are perfect for each other but they also have commitment problems and wonder if they can make it work beyond just fufilling each others sexual needs.
Throw in some nice moments from actor Christopher McDonald, and it adds a up to a very good romantic comedy

Scale of 1 to 10 an 8 ½

Star Wars: A New Hope

10/10 Just a masterpiece.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Tower of Death
The dubbing is bad, and changing the older brother's face to be that of Bruce Lee in some scenes is hilarious when you see the face of the other guy
Then they show the funeral of Bruce Lee, before the movie starts being about the younger brother
7/10

I felt that scene was hastily done. Like they didn't know what to do with Fonseca's character. I assumed it was written as a way to write her off since she was co-starring in Nikita at the time. But if it was in the comics then it's just a ****** scene that was awkwardly thrown in to give the Kick-Ass/Hit-Girl relationship an excuse to form.

It wasn't lol. Katie hates Dave to the extreme in the comics. Quite frankly, both movies are massive improvements over the source material, imo.
