Back to the Future pt 2. Caught it on the big screen via Flashback Cinema. What a treat

X-MEN
QUALITY = 7/10
JOY = 7/10

I couldn't help but think how this future is not compatible with the past displayed in the significantly superior prequel; First Class. I still like this movie, but I don't enjoy it as much as I used to.
The Auschwitz scene is useless in this movie so I skipped it.

The Florida Project -*Not sure I really enjoyed it (the overall characters were depressing, everyone seems to hate Dafeo in the film), but I did really like the kids perspective that the film showed. I agree with the complaint regarding the ending though. It was so abrupt, and just came out of the blue. Like really? Otherwise I got a lot out of the film. - 7.5 / 10

X2: X-MEN UNITED
QUALITY = 9/10
JOY = 9.5/10

A significant improvement over the first movie, and is still a glorious experience to enjoy.

X-MEN 3: THE LAST STAND
QUALITY = 8/10
JOY = 9/10

The movie is pretty good, I really enjoy it, don't get the hate for it as a movie. The Dark Phoenix stuff was built up since X2, it was handled a bit differently here, but the change of her having the power since she was a child instead of it is rising up for the first time did not make it suck.
Wolverine is remorselessly killing in this one, he did not kill in the previous two movies, even though his stabbing to Mystique's guts in the first movie was supposed to be fatal.
The after credits scene is pretty stupid.

The overall movie is pretty simple and straightforward, I don't find too much in the plate, at least not the kind that hinders my enjoyment, or handicaps the movie quality.

Here's how I rank all five I rewatched so far:
  1. X-Men United (love it)
  2. First Class (love it)
  3. The Last Stand (really like it)
  4. X-Men (I like it)
  5. Origins: Wolverine (it's one of those enjoyably stupid movies)

Next chronological stop: The Wolverine

Dracula (1931) - I've seen it several times but this was the first with the Philip Glass score

THE WOLVERINE
QUALITY = 7.5/10
JOY = 8/10

The climax battle is underwhelming, and Lady Viper is annoying and boring more than she is interesting and threatening. The other flaw beside these is that Japanese people speak to each other in English in the middle of their Japanese conversations.

A solid entertaining flick, but I wish it deserved a spot as one of the best CBMs instead of being an underwhelming one.

Tulip Fever. Dull, with a lot of bodice ripping to try to spice things up.

Justice League. Sort of like the Defenders and the first Guardians, with a bland villain and warm camaraderie between heroes that makes the film. Not great, but certainly not horrible, though a lot of the CGI is quite bad.

Slither (2006)

This is an entertaining homage to the genre with great casting and lots of action and suspense. The special effects in this are top notch despite the heavy reliance on CGI the practical effects makeups are some of the best and most disturbing of the era. James Gunn's sense of humor is probably not for everyone but I think the dark comedy works really well here. He even pays tribute to his Troma roots by showing a character watching a scene from The Toxic Avenger. One of my favorite modern horror movies!
