I loved them both but on the mainpage talkback there seems to be alot of hate for Bryan Singer.

Who here disliked his X-men films and why?

What would you have wanted another director to have done differently?

Everything!!1! He ruined the X-Men because he put them in different uniforms, sucks at action, destroyed Storm, cast Anna Paquin as Rogue when she should have breasts twice the size of her head, made Wolverine popular, turned the Brotherhood into henchmen... and worst of all, he turned them into a metaphor for teh gayz!!!

i disagree with half of that, but.....

"made Wolverine popular" is hilarious AND true!

His films were noble films but you can do so much more with the xmen. the team action/fight scenes were lacking.

I always wondered how Guillermo del Toro would do with the xmen franchise. He could do the team battles real well and he has the imagination to go far with mutants. He would be pretty cool portraying the morlocks imo

I was surprised with this as well. But i guess that's fan boys for ya...one minute they love something...

I cant wait til the backlash for Watchmen and TDK, and imo deservingly so...

His films were better than X3 but they did lack action...which would have been fine if that meant we got more character development but we didn't. Wolverine was the focus of both his films, other characters got pushed aside, lots of liberties were taken with characters/story, special effects were subpar.

His acclaimed X2 also started the cameo craze that fanboys complained so much about with X3 and now Wolverine. "oh gosh there's colossus!" "that's siryn!" "OMG Gambit's name is totally on that computer screen!" I was excited too but I mean come on, i was also thinking "um where's cyclops?" "Why is this movie called X-Men United while the team never appears all together on and all I see is Wolverine in a wife beater?"

In Singer's defense (take that how you will), he never wanted to call it X-men United. IIRC it was a last minute addition by the studio.

X1 was kinda weird to me, I didnt like the ending at all with Magneto trying to uhh give his powers to Rogue with that spinning sphere.

In X2, I think Cyclops should of had a bigger role. Instead of just being used to fight Jean. Though X2 is by far my favorite.

I also think he should of paid a little more homage to who the original xmen were (angel, jean, beast, Cyclops and Iceman)

These so-called complaints are rather silly though. Especially the one about ditching yellow spandex.

As far as action, X2 had tons of action sequences (just about as many as any other superhero flick; perhaps more), what more did you want?

I don't dislike his films but there are things I dislike about them. Out of the trilogy I liked X2 the best and X1 the least, for me the first X-Men movie felt so small and I hated the way Mystique, Toad, and Sabretooth were handled, I hated how Rogue was handled in the entire trilogy, I dislike that there was no great team action scene, and I dislike the way Wolverine was always front and center while the other X-Men were pushed to the side, say what you will about Halle but she was right to fight for more screen time for Storm, I just wish the others would have done the same.

Wolverine once again did all the fighting though. The action scenes with the other characters though were more like using their powers to overcome obstacles.

Bottom line we got 3 movies with out a proper battle, X-Men team vs Villain or Villain team.

Also Wolverine didn't have to wear "yellow spandex", the costume could have had a more creative take on it instead of black leather. If gambit had been introduced with the "x-men uniform" I bet fans would be in a uproar, look how much they complained about his eye color.

For those who aren't familiar with my opinion about the films, my above post is completely sarcastic.

I didn't dislike his X-men films. I just thought there was a lot of room for improvement. The major problem that I had with them was that they were way too focused on Wolverine. Singer didn't seem to care if he screwed up every other character on the team so long as he got Wolverine right. He doted on him like a favourite child. And sometimes I suspect that this is why Singer and his team did not push too hard for Gambit (as far as I know). I think he was afraid that Gambit would be competition for the spotlight.

I had minor gripes with Singer but his films did have a quality to them.

i liked them and they are just good films isn't that what we want in the end singer is not an action guy this is one thing x3 did right that singer never did and that was the action

I liked how used the plight of the mutants as a metaphor for that of homosexuals so that wasn't an issue. In fact that was probably the most interesting aspect of his vision in my eyes.

I just didn't care that much for his depictions of a number of characters such as Cyclopes. I really wished that they gave Collossus a more prominent role too.

He probably would of game him a bigger role in X3 if he were doing it. Collossus just kind of went off to lead the kids to safety I guess. Guess we'll never know what Singer had planned for Collosus if he did the third.

no matter what people think x men 3 had them figt as a group how can anyone say there was no team fighting when x 3 had it

That depends on your definition of team fighting. Who was helping Kitty Pryde with Juggernaut? Who was helping Storm with Callisto? Who was helping Iceman with Pyro? Who was helping Wolverine with Phoenix? In my opinion, we have yet to see the X-Men truly fight as team. They follow the same pattern in all three movies--arrive as a team, separate and face individual foes, and come together in the end.

Bryan singer did establish the super hero franchise back again. I think that is why his films were received so well, because
he grounded them in reality. His style worked well with the X-men. I feel a problem with his film though is that they deviated so far from the comics. But can we really blame him or Fox? I would love to see Marvel get back the rights to see what they would do. I will tell you this, it will be something to behold, so I am hoping for this to happen even if it takes 15 years or more for them to finally get it back.

true BMM the x3 deleted scene from the house fight where Xavier dies had some cool team fighting with storm and wolverine

The only problem I had with Singer's movies was Storm but I think that was because he disliked Halle Berry.

What problems did he have with Berry? I know they didnt get along well, but I dont knowe why.

I really don't know. I just remember reading reports on their bickering.

Then the way he treated Storm in X2 it was pretty evident he was taking it out on Berry.

I thought Storm in X2 was pretty good. I didnt think he part was too small.
