Dems should keep Beto around.
MAYBE TOM HANKS OR THE ROCK-IN 2020, SAYS FORMER HILLARY CLINTON ADVISER
Philippe Reines, who served under Clinton when she was secretary of state and as an aide during her 2016 campaign:
“I always think of it this way, that if the election were held tomorrow, stick in a name, would Trump win,” Reines said. “I think Tom Hanks would win, I think The Rock would win. I have a hard time seeing how a lot of the people who are running would win. Just as comparison.”
What the hell are you babbling about, Resistor?
I seriously think Beto and Gillum would be a great 2020 ticket. Or Beto/Harris.
Honestly, if I could pick a ticket today, this is probably what I'd choose.Beto and Tulsi Gabbard?
Honestly, if I could pick a ticket today, this is probably what I'd choose.
As much as I'd love Harris as a candidate, I think both her and Gillibrand will be hurt by the heavily engrained culture war narrative. It will be next to impossible for a California or New York Dem to win at the top of the ticket. Beto could definitely make strong in-roads with the key states Hillary lost. But in general it needs to be someone from outside the liberal bastion states. Amy Klobucher is another name that has been mentioned that I think could go far.
Ironic considering Trump is from New York. That being said you are probably right.
People act though as if celebrities of one kind or another have only recently begun to act in politics, especially "Western" politics but this isn't backed up by the historical record. And it isn't something that today or in the past was something only the West has and is dealing with.
But... Hanks is very likely not running for POTUS and in my opinion shouldn't even be on a credible list of candidates.
