The Avengers "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be Hemsworthy, shall possess the power of Thor"

Because of this thread I have been thinking that this generation has been pretty lucky when it comes to Aussie imported eye candy. Why do I say this you might ask? Well, I'm going to tell you. Now I'm just going by recollection here as I grew up in the 80's. Back then the only guys that come to my mind who were Aussies in mainstream America were as follows:

Yahoo Serious (Yes, that is the name he goes by kids.)

This Guy, and I remember seeing this commercial on T.V. too. >_<:

Crocodile Dundee

I guess the cutest one would have to be Rick Springfield but i always thought he was American because he can talk without an Aussie accent. But seriously this generation has it lucky with the really good looking Aussie imports.

so anyone else disapointed by the Thor poster besides me

That' one of the better posters. That one of Cap looks odd. The Thor poster is ok. I love the pose. And I hope we'll get this picture without that "Big A".

Why don't you like it?

Yeah, Thor's poster is the 2nd better, imo. Loki's take the 1st spot.

I thought the Thor poster was okay. Not bad, not brilliant. I agree that the Loki one probably looks the best.

I just wonder why they refuse to showcase Thor's connection with lightning, they did the same in the promotion art and posters for his solo film.

They still have plenty of time to show his connection with lightning.

...my SWORD is called Lightning........Thor can have Mjolnir...he's not getting my sword. :(

I hope they do, there really wasn't enough of it in THOR but with this film's larger budget he should use lightning in spades.

Plus it's one of the abilities that make him unique among the other Avengers in this film, so it should be used big time in this film.

If anything, the only thing that they have to worry about and remain consistent with is that thor has learned to now be more careful of those around him whenever he's fighting so I don't think we'd see him using that lighting hammer strike that he did on the Frost Giants planet within a crowded city since we all saw on how devastating that move can be.

Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if Thor's fully charged strike could equate to a nuclear bomb in some ways.

Yeah, that would be consistent with his comic book history where he has admitted he usually holds himself out while dealing with mortals.

Indeed;

Heck, Thor was perhaps the only Avenger that I've seen that's had little trouble with dealing with strong enemies in his own film.

The whole fight with Loki imho was an example of him holding back due to his love for his younger brother, but he had wiped the floor with the Destroyer and hundreds of Frost Giants on his own without even breaking too much of a sweat.

That's why some Avengers' and Thor's fan seldom question whether He's too powerful to be on the team.

Heck, I'm even wondering as to why he doesn't immediately take charge of the situation on Earth in this film considering that the main source of the problem is his own brother, and that Hemmsworth revealed that they play with the concept of Thor feeling territorial when it comes who can deal with his brother and in what way, along with Thor wanting to secretly protect his brother from receiving more harm than necessary from the rest of the Avengers due to them not having had shared a history with him.

On a side note, I gotta say that I love how Thor's costume looks in the banner. With the professional lighting and design, it definitely looks more better than what I saw of it in the set pictures.

I mean, imho, a good costume can really come off as looking cheap at times imho on amateur pictures, but when they're properly taken cared of in the filming process, they look great in the final product.

Yeah, it's looking great.Even better than the one from his movie.
Another improvement is on Mjolnir; I love the details and how massive it looks.

I think it has an awful lot to do with the way a costume is lit too. I'm not particularly going to choose between the two costumes as I think they both look pretty good.

Yeah but I was talking about more direct uses of lightning like striking multiple soldiers with several lightning bolts and charging Mjolnir with it during his attacks it and before he throws it.

Now that I mention it, I really would like to see quite a few lightning charged hammer throws in this film and THOR 2 (there weren't any in THOR).

I'd like to see lightning strikes FROM Mjolnir and I'd be happy

Yeah everytime he used lightning in THOR he summoned it from the sky, I'd like to see him shoot lightning directly from Mjolnir as well to show that he can create it not just control it.

My thoughts exactly BT.

You know would else would be cool, have you seen that scene in the Ultimate Avengers movie where he destroys a chitauri ship by releasing lightning from his body in a 360 degree area?

I'm not a big fan of the Ultimate Universe, but that scene was awesome in showing Thor's ability to create lightning by himself.

I'd like to see him use lightning like he does in EMH, most of the time he's in the air when he does it so he doesn't damage the ground anyway. If there are alien ships that seems pretty likely.

I don't know, I still think the costume from the first film was slightly better.

Yes, exactly
