Why are people so skeptical of UFO's?

I'm going science fiction route here, and say viruses are UFO's, like the bacteriophage (bacteria eating virus), it looks like a space shuttle from science fiction

They fly, they can't be identified by ones not knowing them, might as well be extraterrestrial

Maybe alien governments don't like the fuel consumption, and they lost some of their fleet ships in blackholes
Cost is too high, financially, and in possible lives
The concept of the finite or infinite nature of the universe has to be one of those things that can drive you crazy and the human mind can't comprehend easily.
I might as well agree with this

Nope... sorry. Still doesn't make sense. A SINGLE civilization with those capabilities would have colonized the entire galaxy by now. There would be several of them, or maybe one dominant one, in which case we'd already be extinct. There would be some galactic league that has encompasses almost every system in the Milky Way. Our galaxy has been around long enough to permit this.

The only other explanation is that Earth is a class 1 quarantined planet and nobody is allowed to contact us, else the "League" would go Krypton on their asses. So ask yourself, what is more likely?

I'd say nobody has a clue how to travel in interstellar space. But that's not the end of the story. We should be able to make radio contact with somebody within a millennia. If not, the latter possibility grows more and more.

I agree that there's probably a League sorta deal, but why would that mean we'd be extinct? What reason would they have to wipe us out? Any species that gets that powerful has no reason to wipe out other species, their technology would make all resources essentially infinite.

Also, I'm not going to try to convince you to believe in FTL travel, but I was just wondering if you could explain why you dont believe in interstellar travel. Do you believe there are no other universes to "punch through", or that there's no way to survive it? I wanna hear your idea.

Anyway, something cool I re-found people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow!_signal

The wow signal. Basically a signal from space that matches the exact hypothesis of what an alien signal would look like. So named because the scientist wrote Wow! On the print off when it appeared. Not necessarily proof, but I wonder how unlikely it is for humans to accidentally pick ANY random signals and then find it in space. Is anyone here educated in electronic communications and can hazard a guess?

I've thought about this for years now. It seems a lot more plausible to me that the phenomena could be explained as beings from a higher dimension than ones from another planet. Travel over vast interstellar distances would need a large amount of resources for the trip alone.
We have no idea what resources are necessary for interdimensional travel. That could require even MORE energy.

Its soo hard to argue in this thread because we know next to nothing. Who knows Evo if that energy used for inter-dimensional space travel isn't incredibly easy to come by in the galaxy. Some gas like that is just infinitely abundant that all they have to do is harness it in a certain way and that's it.

Isn't that just fiction though? In real life energy is energy, you don't need unobtainium or energon. Unless I misunderstand what you're saying.

Maybe they can still use intergalactic plutonium to go beyond 1.21 Gigawatt to travel interdimensionally

Was the first image of 'Aliens' in the first place just a made up by Hollywood? I'd have to be ignorant to believe there aren't any of life forms in the universe but Green or Grey beings with large heads who ride in flying saucers just seems a little out there for me.

After the Roswell incident is when Hollywood really started to make those movies of Green and Grey men with large eyes. This what I understood was because of some first hand accounts with the ETs were described this way to local towns folk.

I wouldn't necessarily say that Hollywood made them up 100%

I agree, although it could have been based off "real" incidents or hoaxes first. I don't want to believe they look like little grey/green men.

You do realize that you're agreeing with me, right?

Oh I thought you were trying to say that inter-dimensional travel could take SOO much energy that they couldn't do it freely but would have to take time to build up such powers.

Thanks. :) I am just watching it actually my self for the first time. Hope it worths it.

Doe's this video have to do with Aliens? It seems to just be talking about government military power.

LOL nevermind I just had to listen to the video longer :D

It could. My point is that we don't know.

Take a look at the post to which I was replying.

What I'm saying is that it's absurd to make a claim of likelihood with such confidence without any prior informative knowledge.

Yeah. I guess I just really want to believe we aren't alone and we have been visited. Like I said before, and you re itereated, its hard to argue either way because we literally just don't know.

I still really like my Professor X's Cerebro idea :D That ETs can link into a galactic map that links them to other life in the universe/multiverse

This video is interesting. Its stating that we in fact, are the broadcasts for extra terrestrial beings. That we, through deep meditation can tap into this universal brain wave pattern that is able to communicate with other beings in the galaxy.

I don't think the species would want to wipe life out you are right. There are enough stars in the Milky Way to power them for billions of years. We are still in the infancy of the universe in terms of star fuel. There will be enough to sustain life for trillions of years, that is if the inflation/dark energy hypothesis is correct and the universe doesn't cave in on itself any time soon.

I believe the WoW matched the frequency of the Hydrogen atom, making it the ideal candidate for a signal from E.T. No one on Earth transmits at those frequencies. I guess we may have engineered a handful of such signals and jettisoned them out there, but you can't tune into your radio station and find hydrogen transmissions. That would be the frequency to transmit though. These frequencies are readily transmitted into space through natural phenomena, ie) visible light, UV, etc. But if you send them in a hydrogen emmission pattern and a particular strength, it's obviously engineered.

Actually, from what I've read, it seems the idea of "Greys" only really goes back to the 60's (at least in regards to UFO phenomena). It was heavily popularized by the alleged alien abductions, most notably the abduction claims of the Hill family. Who coined the term "Greys" is less clear.

Little Green Men date back a lot further. Now that you mention it, I've actually never read an account of people being abducted by Little Green Men. Nine out of ten it's "Greys".
