Hey I'm not saying Bendis is great- I personally think he is mediocre- and I am not saying sales = quality. I am simply stating that he must be doing something right to be top for so long- even if I am not sure what that is...

I've been saying this in the thread as well. And gildea has been making my point as well.

Just because it says Spider-Man doesn't mean that it's going to bring in the sales of champions.

As I pointed out earlier, it didn't matter whether Bendis was going to do Avengers Disassembled or New Warriors Disassmebled or The Amazing Spider-Ham Disassembled! It would have sold either way. Why? Because it has Bendis on it.

The point has been is that he's POPULAR.

As a matter of fact, I'm going to make a quick comparison. Metallica and Bendis run the same line.

Metallica's first three albums are, pretty much, agreed upon by the Metallica community to be fantastic albums. Once you get away from that you get the fans who say "They sold out" "They suck now" "Music died when Cliff died" etc. What happened was Metallica started getting....POPULAR, example...The Black Album.

Bendis was an indie writer who made it to Marvel. Things kept moving for him and the ball got rolling. All of a sudden he's given Avengers. He writes a story. Fans go absolutely insane over the story, in a bad way, and ever since it's been the same excuses to dislike Bendis, as with Metallica. "Oh, his pacing is horrible" "His dialogue is choppy and doesn't make sense" "He killed Hawkeye~!".

Dislike him for your reasons. Fine. But he's still one of the most popular writers in the comic book industry and there are more people who like him than dislike him. The remedy to the problem? If you don't like Bendis don't read his books and you won't have to make "Bendis Sucks" threads every week.

Very nice guy, met him several times and even been to his house briefly. What a good hearted and genuine individual.

I'll say again, I like Bendis when he is not writing superheroes or a book like DD that works with his strengths i.e. crime noir or horror, other than that he sucks.

Pretty much, Torso if you read it was awesome and Powers is a decent read when I check it out every now and then. It's that Bendis shouldn't go anywhere near a book like Avengers or Superman, he'd straight jack it up trying to be the definitive writer on the book.

That's just your opinion. Bendis is the one who got me into the Avengers and has kept me reading the book. And also got me into Captain America, which caused me to pick up Brubakers run. And also got me into Iron Man, which I sat through nothing but brutally long delays with that book, but it's over now.

Depends on your definition of "borefest." I agree with deemar, I haven't liked anything Bendis has written that primarily hinges on superheroes. Ultimate Spider-Man was good for a while but even that crashed and burned before long, so I dropped it.

I'm just not liking his drawn out stories and lack of action. Really how did it take that long to get the whole roster together? and the whole roster isn't even together yet.
