Why I like the Avengers

I dont want to generalize but these two sentences seem to contradict

Actually it doesn't. Me being a fan, and the way the Avengers set up their team not working is two different things. I didn't mind the way the Avengers functioned, but it all collapsed in the end.

Why did it collapse? Simply put because Bendis decided to.

No. To say its a good change means you dont know anything about the Avengers. Even if you like the damn title, you have to admit, it was change for the sake of change.

I agree with you there.

And to tell you the honest truth, I could do without the New Avengers, but not because of the roster or the writing. The NA roster works for me. Its just another Avengers roster shake up (a staple of the Avengers membership, people leave and are replaced by new or returning members) my problem is with moving out of the mansion and adding the word NEW.

Calling them the NEW Avengers is a marketing ploy and nothing more, and THATS what gets under my skin. The make up of the team doesnt bother me.

I dont see how Scarlet Witch could be brougth back into the MU in the recent future.

Well she is alive, just human. With her powers gone she's probably no longer insane as well. A quick trip to the terrigan mists and she's got some powers (or even study and learn magic).

I think if hal jordan can be retaconned into becoming a hero once more nerely anyone can.

Ok, I generalized comic book fans, which was wrong. But from what I've been seeing, I've seen a lot of fans hate everything that has been out in the market. And you guys generalized New Avenger fans.

For the record, I was an Old Avenger fan. But their ways didn't work out and they died. Captain America wants to form a team who helps people. Ok, yeah, we didnt see any epic stuff yet but we will eventually. I'm sure The New Avengers will play a big roll in Civil War.

what does that mean?

The numbering as well, but dont worry when they reach #600, theyll go back.

seemed to work until Bendis came on

That was pretty much my thought.

And just because I dropped the book doesn't mean I haven't read them.

I have yet to be impressed. In fact, I've been more DEPRESSED than IMPRESSED.

oh yeah forgot about the numbering :)

Man, to think we had Geoff Johns on the title. Im sorry Red Zone stands up there as one of the greatest Avengers stories IMO.

If i may ask how do you read them?

Dunno i don't think byrne reading is really reading a comic.

d/l them well i can't say that isn't

Yeah it really is
and the worst part is Marvel keeps adding titles.

Its not like not reading the Ghost Rider limited series is going to affect reading Spiderman. Heh.

This argument is so old. I was going to post my opinion but decided against it, since I've done so many times before.

New Avengers whether we like the book ro not, is a tentpole book and a lot of things occur in the book that set up stuff aka House of M, Civil War.

as for epic adventures..it is just getting going plus there is the subtext storyline too of a secret bad guy.
And yet, other writers were able to pretty much go epic right off the bat. Earlier (which everybody seemed to miss) I compared the way in which Busiek started and the way Bendis started and were they were 17 issues later. By the time Busiek hit #17, his team had faced against the Squadron Supreme, Morgan LeFay and the Doomsday Man, amongst others. The New Avengers have fought ninjas.

Young Avengers and Astonishing X-Men haven't hit #17 yet, and they've both had more epic arcs than NA, too.
