Why I like the Avengers

To get things rolling, we had a big prison break that coincidentally brought a bunch of heroes together which for some odd reason made Cap and Iron Man decide this meant they all were destined to be Avengers. This was totally disrespectful to all the members who were on the old team but weren't offered new memberships just because they didn't happen to be at the prison.

I doubt all the other avengers are sitting at home just waiting for the phone to ring. They are more than capable of making the journey to stark's tower.

Why would they, it was Stark who disbanded the team. Now they have a new team. If I was Hank, Janet or any other Avenger id be like well ok, I guess were not good enough for their new team.

Then you wouldn't be a superhero you'd be a stuck up child. ;)

Really it would be the height of immaturity for any hero to sit at home and sulk over some precieved slight, I like to think my superheroes are better than that.

(hank and janet quit the avengers of their own accord btw, the ball is really in their court so to speak if you think thats the way it works)

Still, Stark said the Avengers were over, but now hes running around with a new team called the Avengers. Its not about immaturity or being stuck up its that the whole assembly behind NA is ridiculous. Oh these guys fought with us once at Rykers, thats it there are new team. Think about it. Cap's main reasonw as that they fought so well together, that it was like a sign, which seems unCap like for him to say in the first place. So, him and the old school Avengers didnt fight well together?

Not judging that at all.

All i'm saying is the notion that it is disrespectful that cap didn't go round and ask all the previous avengers to join is ridiculous. That and the impication that other heroes wouldn't ask to join the new avengers because cap didn't personally extend the invitation to them is plain silly.

But the above paragraph regards caps reasons for reforming the team and is an entirely different kettle of fish. :)

Dont hold me to this but id ay the majority of Avengers were invited to join. I dont think you can show up to the Mansion and say hey I want in and thats it.

S'ok i won't (but I agree with you!!)
I'm thinking largely of past avengers, cap did say in the series "once an avenger always an avenger".

The only point i'm making if wonderman, wasp yellow jacket turned up at stark tower tomorrow I don't think cap would turn them away (heck i can imagine cap "thank god, someone who can fight as part of a team!!"). That and the are aware they can come back anytime.

Cap:Wonderman great to have you back. We gotta go though, big threat.

Wonderman: Oh man Dr. Doom? Ultron? Kree? Skrulls?

Cap:No, we have to fight some ninjas.

Wonderman:Huh?

LOL

Cap: You don't understand we have to do it.....in a penthouse flat!!!

Wonderman : What other threats have you faced so far?

Cap: We tend to spend most of our time talking these days, actually.

Wonderman: Huh?

Cap: Except for the really big threats where we get Doctor Strange or Emma Frost to resolve them for us.

Wonderman: I'm off to join Power Pack.

Why the heck are we not talking about ultimate avengers the movie!
It was great and I can't wait for the next one!
But I had problem finding in let alone buying it!
Because almost every video store owner didn’t know or hear about it

I’ve finally found it in a specialize video store right along the Barney and teletubies kid stuff
I explain that it was a marvel "animation" movies and it doesn't belong with the little kid crap over there and they should put it at least in the dragon ballz session
But they just didn't care
For some reason the Manga bug eyed stuff with children characterization are considered more mature than those chiseled muscular American superheroes!

And I thought maybe because they use the Manga style to illustrate everything from little kid stuff to porno stuff that people are subconsciously showing more respect for them

Anyway I think marvel comics should do a movie to promote their artist just like I suggested a year ago otherwise people will never take them seriously:spidey:

Captain America said "once an Avenger always an Avenger" so dont give me that.
Captain America also told Wolverine: "you'd better hope the X-Men never get tired of putting up with you, because I guarantee you the Avengers would never have you." :p

What is there about any of this that couldn't have been done just as effectively without tearing the old team apart for it. That's where my complaint comes in. All the change has resulted in some very dull storytelling, but with big name cast members on the cover. The changes were for sells, and that's fine, but they were for sales ONLY, not for story.

I agree

You might like to think so, but have you read "House of M." Ms. Marvel pretty much expresses how upset she was at being shut out to the Falcon. You might like your heroes to be above human emotions, but I like them to be as realistic as possible. If you belonged to an exclusive club, believed yourself to be an intregal part of it, had the people who financed it announce that it was over, and then, a few months later, saw that he had reformed the club with newcomers and never even told you about it, you might be a little offended. Of course, I guess you think super powers would counter that feeling somehow.

When and why did this happen?

That quote does sound familiar but I was wondering where it came from too.

I agree with this...

Don't forget that a Marvel hero is a flawed hero everyone.... This is what makes Marvel Marvel.

Tsk.

Ok firstly, don't put words in my mouth at no point do i say heroes are above emotions.

Secondly carol quit of her own accord as falcon points out in HoM (which you conviently ignore). Anyway i'd hardly call one snide comment "expressing how upset she was".

Thirdly carol has had the invitation extended to her recently and she declined.

Lastly damn right i think the heroes are better than you're suggesting. I want heroes to have emotions, but not to be whiny little girls. They are supposed to be heroes and rise above such nonsense and school ground politics I certainly don't think it would realistic to have it portrayed them portrayed in such a petty way.

These are people who have looked death in the face but what REALLY angers them is being left out the club house? Please.

Yeah but their flaws tend to be a wee bit more interesting than "not being asked to be part of the gang".You know things that actually matter, alcholism, genuine social exclusion metaphors (ie x-men), money or family matters.

Not some percieved slight that doesn't even exist except in some comic fans heads.

Ironic that Disassembled started specifically because of a perceived slight that didn't exist except in Wanda's head, isn't it? ;)
