How bout Gordon? I barely see him being mentioned. From the 1st teaser trailer it really seems like it's Gordon who has his back broken by Bane.

Bane will attack IMO the police in the sewers. we see a shot in the trailer with an explosion happening behind Gordon. so this will put Gordon in the hospital. Batman visits Gordon in the hospital . later IMO when Gordon is out of the hospital Batma nwas defeated and Bane took over Gotham.

everytime you see snow its after Bane defeated Batman. its winter and its the time when the police are hidding and Bane took over.

based on set pics we know that Gotham is no man's land.its a big war zone.JGL(Blake) is creating bat symbols on buildings to communicate with the police. the police is hidding from the henchman and criminals who took over Gotham.

And Alfred? We have to assume the Manor has been gutted, and the cave has been found out. Gotham must just be a hell on earth...and for how long? Does Bane keep the rest of the governmental justice forces at bay the whole time....or do they at least just send their own nuke to take it all out?

I guess it is. Gotham somehow turns into a Mad Max-like wasteland...for months on end while Wayne is recovering. And he.....somehow makes his way back inside. Honestly, I could see this 'wasteland' thing happening for a few days, tops....but not for more than a month.....unless Bane keeps certain infrastructure and authorities intact, and some sort of totalitarian order is established...in the middle of the US...for months...and...

my theory on Alfred
http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=362795&page=2

and Bane has a big device which can destroy everything . a big rumor is that he will destroy a big part of Gotham. this of course will be done with CGI so we couldnt see it when they filmed. but they did paint a lot of cracks on the street and in the tunnel. IMO 10-20% of Gotham will be destroyed.

Bane has everyone by the balls because of the device. IMO he has Gotham under control fo the whole winter. Bane Defeats batman in autumn. Bamtan is away for 3 months.i think the first time we see Batman and Gordon talk when he is back is on the ice river which they filmed in LA

Maybe dead...don't see him leaving.

3 months is long, though. You'd think that if any terrorist were to hold any city hostage in the US, something big would have been done about it within that time, even if he had a nuke. Bu I guess the story will have to make that plausible some way. Good thing it's an isolated universe...otherwise they'd just send Superman. :D

I doubt he'll break his back per se as that would take YEARS to come back from....and even then a full recovery is a bit unrealistic in real life. As this all takes place 8 years in the future, I suspect he'll just leave Batman seriously beaten and broken, but with injuries that will only take months instead of years to recover from. Hence the cane in the trailer which is a far cry from the wheelchair he'd be in after an injury like the one in the comics.

Wouldn't the Lazarus pit be used?

i actually loved the length...i felt most movies are ruined because they are simply too short

In a way it almost felt like it should have been longer to pack all that stuff in....or maybe even two films...and unfortunately it leaves the viewer a bit too 'punch-drunk' by the time it makes to to the hostages...and then it feels like a bit too much. On first viewing, though. On repeated ones, the effect isn't as bad.

It's more a writing thing than an editing/time thing...tying to pack a bit too much in. But again, it's ultimately a minor gripe.

I agree if anything TDK was too short... take Rises to 3 hours... we'll watch it!

You wouldn't want to see it if it was a Scorcese 3 hour epic? What the hell, you don't have the stamina for an extra 30 mins? To me that's more story or fight scenes for us.

I probably wouldn't mind it, but the GA would HATE it. LOTR got away with it ONLY because it was so good, and people still complained. The length of TDK was one of the major complaints from the GA now that I think about it. Plus longer never means better in films. It can have little effect on the outcome, or it can have a negative effect. Never positive.

I think it's a bit much to say never positive. It's a positive if the film calls for that much running time and makes the story more engrossing. Besides, people didn't seem to mind the length with Avatar, Titanic, Shindler's List, Nixon, Ghandi, or The Dark Knight. People may have complained a bit about the running time of TDK, but it still made enough to be one of the highest grossing films of all time, without 3D.

Really, what it comes down to is, if the film's good. People are going to watch it. Regardless of how long it is.

No, Batman will not have his back broken by Bane. Why? Because that's exactly what we are expecting to happen.

Nolan wont go with what we ar expecting but totally do something different. Its lifting too much from the comics directly, and I doubt Nolan would do that. I think he would go for something fresh that we havent seen or expected coming.

:woot: Agreed.

Having said that I have mixed feelings about TDK's lengh. On one hand it feels kind of rushed as not many scenes have much breathing room and Two-Face was very brief, on the other hand something about the narrative structure makes me feel very worn out by the time it's over. But I've seen loads of three hour films where this actually hasn't been the case. At any rate, I'm such a lover of these films I'd be willing for them to drag just to see more :awesome:

I think when you consider that this will be the ending to the saga, we can pretty much bet that the duration will be as long as TDK, at the very least.

One thing I've never said about a Nolan film was "Man, I wish the movie was longer", 2 1/2 - 3 hrs is a great running time for a great movie telling a great story.

But as this is the final installment, the longer the better. I just hope that there are way more action sequences and much more dialogue between the protagonist & the antagonist in this one.

Yeah. People label sections of his films, especially the dialogue, drawn out and un natural. But I admire how Nolan gets everything he wants out of a movie and an idea.

Those people should realise that...

It's only a movie. :awesome:

I admire that he makes the movies HE wants to make. He tells the story HE wants to tell, and does it how HE wants. So I get why his movies can be long and drawn out, and they should be. Me personally, I enjoy the dialogue and I'll admit, in an action movie it can get you a little aggy cuz your waiting for the next explosion and what not, but as a true movie buff I enjoy the dialogue of characters when well written especially, and you need the dialogue to really get whats going on and why... I think Nolan is a directors director and I think most wish they had his freedom as a director. Inception is a good example of this in my opinion.

To get back on topic... as I stated earlier... NO, Bane will not break the Batman. This isn't a movie adaption of Knightfall.

Makes me feel like many people who watch these movies are like 9 & 10 year old's who only pay attn to the TV when they hear a boom! or there are bright and colorful things moving around really fast :oldrazz:

I agree :oldrazz:

I never thought I'd say it but I'm coming around to the idea that Bruce is relying on a cane at the start, using it as a crutch in every sense of the phrase.
Bruce will try to get over his problems but then Bane does something to put Bruce out of action for a good few months.

hah i have been thinking about this recently as well...
