Good for Punk! Hope he does well and can't wait to see him fight!

Good for Punk, and it's a great move for UFC as well. I assume he knows what he's doing, and is up to par for the level of competition he's entering into.

....what?

I ordered the UFC ppv tonight. Watching it with a few friends. They just had Punk interviewed live by Joe Rogan, and they announced a multi-fight deal.

Figured you guys would want to go.

Wrestling Rumors reported earlier Punk, real name Phil Brooks, was expected to meet with White at the pay-per-view for potential discussions.

Punk appeared at UFC 181 in Las Vegas, Nevada and announced he would be signing a multi-fight deal with the company. He is expected to make his debut some time in 2015. For the event, he used his real name with the “CM Punk” ring name as well, credited as a “former WWE Superstar.”

The former WWE Champion made headlines over the past two weeks by appearing on Colt Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast, revealing he was fired on his wedding day by WWE after he had initially walked out in January after the “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view. He later said Vince McMahon’s public apology on the WWE Network was no more than a stunt.

“I’m here to get my ass kicked or kick somebody’s ass,” Punk said on the UFC 181 broadcast. “This is my new career.” He also revealed he is likely to be a welterweight.

It is unknown at this time when he will make anymore appearances for the company, though it is well-known he has had desire to get involved with MMA in the past.

Punk is brilliant. He released a podcast and got McMahon to promote his name on WWE Network.

and to think even Brock might return to the UFC again.

As an avid MMA fan for several years, UFC signing Punk is a joke and an obvious desperate cash grab by a company with declining PPV business.

I don't blame Punk, but the UFC is becoming a WWE by the day.

Punk is going to get wrecked as soon as he faces any one legitimate

CM Punk joins UFC, will fight in 2015
LAS VEGAS -- The UFC has signed former WWE professional wrestler CM Punk to fight in the Octagon.

The promotion announced the signing during its UFC 181 pay-per-view broadcast on Saturday. CM Punk, birth name Phil Brooks, is 36 years old. He has never fought professional mixed martial arts.

UFC president Dana White said Brooks intends to fight at middleweight -- 185 pounds -- but said he'd be open to possibly 170 pounds.

"He wanted to fight here," White told ESPN.com. "He wanted to give it a shot so we gave him an opportunity. It's not like Brock Lesnar. We're not going to throw the kitchen sink at him. Lesnar had a wrestling background. He's going to fight a guy who is 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 -- something like that."

White said Brooks has been training jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts for an extended period of time.

"He's been coming to fights for a long time and after his WWE contract was up, he called me and said he wanted to give it a shot. I said, 'Alright. We'll give you a shot.' "

In addition to Lesnar, who went 5-3 over his MMA career, other WWE stars have tried their hand including Dave Bautista (1-0) and Bobby Lashley (12-2).

Atleast now I know I'll have Punk matches to get excited for

And works for Marvel AND UFC making him a bigger name than he already is while selling his merchandise like hot cakes and getting his name chanted! Best...IN THE WORLD!

Hahaha McMahon promoted a UFC fighter.

I dunno. Quitting wrestling for his health at 36 and starting MMA a year later doesn't seem smart.

Its gonna be interesting to see how they gonna stop the CM Punk chants now , now that he is a UFC guy

Walking away from WWE saves Punks life. I'm a little concerned two but I think he can handle it.

I can't believe CM Punk and Lesnar will be in UFC next year. I've never had so many reasons to watch that organization.

and to think even Brock might return to the UFC again.

$10 says McMahon is calling Lesnar's agent's phone right now.

Vince is gonna ''Benoit'' Punk and attempt to erase all existence of him in wwe. Which means that they gonna have to make adjustments to Takers wrestlemania record from 21-1 to 20-1

Considering he won't be constantly on the road, and have time heal before he has to fight. I'd say it's more healthier than working for WWE.

I'm concerned for Punk's health as well with his age and body's condition at ths point, but it'll be interesting. And he'll be healthy!

Will he be allowed to cut promos? :funny:

It's confirmed Lesnar's going back?

oh man what if Punks first match was during Wrestlemania weekend?

On Punks podcast he mentioned Vince wouldn't let him wear mma shorts or have sponsors. I sided with Vince on that because it didn't make much sense. It's kind of awesome he can do whatever he wants now. I'd love to see him take a stab at acting.

I get a feeling McMahon took Punk for granted because he saw him as Plan B. Like Bret Hart, not The Guy, but somebody to fall back on because he was reliable.
Exactly, but he never had that image they liked either.

Good on Punk signing with UFC. He's hinted for a long time that it would be something he would like to try, and he did hint on Cabana's previous podcast that he was training. He's been doing BJJ for a long time now, no one says they're training unless they intend to fight, IMO. Dana's smart too, he knows Punk is late in the game and won't mismatch him. Punk has stated multiple times that he has wanted to step into the octagon, and even if he loses, he won't know until he actually tries.
