Fox's estimate is 80m, so anything above is good. Anything below is a disaster.

Its a shame the critics are ripping the film apart, its gonna play a factor in the box office and you are gonna get alot of people loving it with ideas that fox are gonna give it back to marvel now

Usually there are some categories like merely 'bad' and 'ok/average' between 'disaster' and 'good'. :woot:

Most casual people don't read reviews before going to see a movie. They usually trust the word of the mouth fro fans. Like for example I took with me 2 friends to go see the movie that never went to see x-men in theater before and they just loved. They trust me, they didn't do a research online to decide either to see the movie or not based on the online reviews.

Only 2 weeks ago several posters were saying there was no way that the pro box office prediction of 95 million for the opening weekend was right and that it was way too low of a prediction and that numbers that low would be a disaster.

Now we have people hoping it gets 80 million.

Is just there's too much competition right now. Deadpool was very luck, the only movie he had to face it was Zoolander 2 which suck it.

Cap3 was the only nationwide release on its first weekend.

X-Men will have to face everything. So, they'd be luck if the reach 80m.

Expectations change as the reviews, etc. come in. I think we'd have been looking at very different numbers if this was getting the sort of reception previous Singer X-Men films did, which is what most of us expected.

Its funny Zoolander 2 was completely under the radar that i didn't even know it was released

Oh, there were people who were concerned about it's box office potential in the Deadpool forum. It was kind of funny once the results started coming in.

Still, excited to see this tonight at 7.

Even if this manages to turn in a half decent profit somehow (will likely be a struggle), I'm not all that overjoyed about the prospect of a future of low budget X-films.

I'm hoping for this movie to make a lot ww, I'd love to see 1b but thats impossible. I'd be satisfy with 800m

If this movie don't surpass Deadpool the next x-men movie will be very low budget like Deadpool was and we might not see cool effects.

Deadpool was cool but the movie had literally only 2 action sequences. The bridge in the beginning and the final act.

I think most would be satisfied with that at this point but are concerned it may fall significantly lower.

I think if X-Men: Apocalypse underperforms FoX will finally listen to the fans and become more comic book accurate.

Don't go against what the fans want.

Honestly I like J-Law Singer & Kinberg but they aren't good for X-Men anymore. It may be a minority but its a loud vocal vicious minority and every time these three speak on the franchise or their name.e is brought up the vitriol from the community is vicious. It has a negative impact they should be replaced.

X-Men Apocalypse was much more comic book accurate than any Fox movie before it and it is pretty clear that they are building toward a more comic book accurate universe in general.

Mystique leading the team and giving speeches is not accurate

Mystique being J-Law 70% of the movie is not accurate

Beast being Human 70% of the film is not accurate

I'm probably the biggest X-Fan in the world and IDC what they do I'll see the movies 10+ in theaters regardless but I'm sick and tired of my favorite thing in the world be kicked around ****ted on. X-Men is a joke now and that's the honest truth we're the red headed step child bastard of super heroes now and it makes me sick.

Avengers/Justice League can't hold the X-Men's jock it feels like were living in the Bizzaro World now.

if it underperforms it won't be because its not more comic book accurate

It's a great and common fan fallacy to assume that a particular product underperforming will lead to the studio making whatever change that particular fan most wants to see.

X-Men release's should be 1b + every time. Its just sad to me how far the Uncanny have fallen.

And FoX just doesn't give a crap about us. Because of these films I can't get top quality X-Men books anymore. No more video games or animation or even merchandizing.

All we have left is the films and I expect the best comic book movies if this is the sacrifice that has to be made to have them.

Maybe I'm crazy

Pretty much, yeah.

After the big boxoffice of DoFP I was sure of the potential of XMA hitting around 1 billion. Come on, it's called "progress" and seeing how easier it gets for movies getting to 1 billion, X-Men (a long running franchise/media) can't get to it after all those years?
I am not speaking about quality. Look at Transformers movies.
And I can ever argue that they're not that bad, but also look at the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

And yeah, even as a media X-men isn't doing any good. I mean, Marvel doesn't want to take risks with them anymore.
