Daredevil says hi. And Punisher, to a lesser extent. And yeah, Spider-man in CW made people excited for a third version of the character. It might be too early to make that call definitively but it's a safe bet at this point.
I'm not saying this in favor of Fox teaming up with Marvel, I don't think that's necessary, but it would probably benefit them financially. Outside of Deadpool, they're leaving money on the table.

I'm not convinced that Homecoming will do significantly more than the ASM movies. The baselines for TV shows is different, especially since the Netflix are definitely at odds with the films, in terms of tone. As for critical reception, Fox had been doing fine. Singer's track record is quite good.

Yeah. F4 are basically like, what, they can be seen as mutants lol
Seriouslly, I always though if F4 and X-Men were going to be together in a movie made by Fox, that F4 would be mutants. lol
Deadpool was mutant in XMOW; Viper was a mutant in The Wolverine; Juggernaut was a mutant, etc. ..
Nah not really
The F4 were supposed to be super popular and celebrities BEFORE the mutant phenomenon developed.

Basically it goes like this, "Brady Bunch" family goes on "NASA" like expedition and comes back affected from the radiation. The whole nation was cheering them on as they embarked, and watched horrified when they were exposed. When they come back, its obvious that the radiation turned them the way they did. The F4 up their ante by using their newfound power for good.
this was supposed to happen before First Class, F4 were to be firmly established even their origin would be well known in pop culture..

Then the Muties and X-men show up on the scene, with F4 being skeptical of the mutants and the X-men.

There you have your story, mixed universe and awesome crossovers including but not limited to Phoenix, Galactus and Kree Wars

phew

Going to be a sure-fired miracle with the writers and director they have on board for Spider-man Homecoming because Daredevil at least had proven talent.

I prefer the director/writer-driven approach Fox currently has to diversifying their line-up even when their visions don't line up.
-Some of the guys within the X-Men story credited circle could and should definitely take the reigns on script or directing duties.
-Noah Hawley's Legion has too much hype from me.
-AND I'M STILL WAITING ON THAT DOUG LIMAN GAMBIT MOVIE.

Ugh. It's the only way for it to work, we'd have to get anothe r dark n' gritty version of F4 that's even FURTHER removed from the source material.

what's darker n' grittier than Ultimate F4?

No FF/X-men crossover please. That sounds so terrible and unnecessary. Just the thought gives me Sinister Six/Sony flashbacks/

We'll have to wait and see, but RDJ's inclusion throws a wrench in the guessing game I think.
But yeah this is probably a conversation best suited for another time. That being said, do we know if Singer is coming back? What more do we know about the future of this franchise, if anything, or is this all to be decided?

"Their CBM genre is pretty much on suck at the moment"

500M for XMA and 760 for deadpool is 1.26B. And the movies cost 190 and 58, so around 250 collectively. That's arguably a decent year for the portfolio.

Deadpool and Cable, X-Force, and R-rated Wolverine are all coming.

lol, yeah idk y people makin it out to see like Fox is failing
Also its not tha ASM was doing bad, it actually faired well in the BO, Sony just on life support now and is desperate.

You guys do realize that Fox doesn't get that entire gross. In fact, OS gross maybe lower than 50% in some places. So not sure you can count the total amount as pocket change.

He is definitely taking a break. I don't think they will wait for him for the next main X-men movie. Which is fine, the series does need new blood. I say this as someone who LOVED Apocalypse.

Gotcha, that's about what I figured. Yeah I think we can all agree it's time for a different creative team with a different energy. Even though I wasn't a big fan of Apocalypse, the movie ended with an X-men team that I'd like to see more of in the future (minus Mystique). I just hope James McAvoy returns. I can't say this enough, I think his casting is on the same level as RDJ and Hugh Jackman. My favorite part of this newest trilogy, hands down.

no you dont
XMA was the "lightest" of all FoX-men Movies.
And yes, you would lighten up the tone in the cross-over films, and even more so in F4 movies.
These X-men that fought Apocalypse teaming up with F4 to take on Galactus and SS? Good stuff.

We knew for months- a year now that this is Singer's "swan song" and he's got another movie to work on. So the latest we'll know if he's somehow back in the directing chair is 3-4 years.

What more do we need to know beyond all the projects currently in development?

Josh Trank's Fant4stic :cwink:
...is lighter last time I read UF4, especially with Kinberg's 3rd act.

Absolutely. But, ancillary markets and library come into play too when it comes to studios.

I'm admittedly not as in the loop with the X-men movie as others. I'm aware what properties are in development and I figured this was Singer's last film, but I was curious to know how much information is out there in regards to the future of this specific franchise (the main X-men team).

Apocalypse still is more dark and serious than MCU films.FF failed was Josh
Trank's interpetian of Ultimate FF till they panicked and tried to change thrid act to make it more action packed.

X-Men In MCU films would defently be more lighter than even Apocalypse.

Who knows what will happen to FF now.

X-force is almost certinly going to be lighter than X-Men films.Deadpool will
insure this.Anytime in MCU Stark shows up it gurantees lightness.CIvil war is more serious than say Iron man 3 and 2 avengers but it is lighter than
Winter Soldier.

I own the first five volumes of UFF & I don't remember any Cronenberg-esque body horror or Head popping-Doom in the Ultimate FF books. Sure it was slightly more serious & grounded than the 616 comics (as with most of the Ultimate spinoffs) but it wasn't 'dark & gritty Dark Knight' like Fant4stic was trying to be.

(p.s. just remember the latest leak that producers could force the Iron Man movie team to change the gender of their movie villain because allegedly female superhero toys don't sell...this is only one example how the "merchandise lobby" has influence on the creative team)
People are guessing it was Ike at marvel that had the no female villain comment given his reputation for that kind of train of thought.

Now that Kevin feige is running marvel's film division we have hela as the main villain in Thor 3.
Disney are not happy with alice 2
They have something like three of the top grossing movies this year in the top five so far. They also have star wars rogue one to come out. When you have three or four billion dollar movies in a year you can probably afford to lose a couple hundred million.
I think X-men and Fantastic Four in one movie would work.

They could work if fox finally worked out how to make a good ff film. I don't think there is a big demand for a crossover though.

what people are forgetting there may not be another X-men film for another 4 years with all the spin-offs in the work.and he has been talking like someone
who doesn't plan on leaving.20,000 leagues under the sea going into production in the fall and it is at fox.however Apocalypse's under-performing may change
that.

Finding Dory is also coming. And Doctor Strange.

I think the potential is there for it to be better. But would a new look, cast, etc. really help the box office? First Class had a "new" almost everything and it still wasn't that successful

I think it's hilarious people think the Fantastic Four would revitalize the X-Men.

Kinberg's ff would of been a kiss of death for the main x-men movies if they crossed over like he wanted then to. When you hear kinberg talk about the ff you realize he doesn't understand the property at all.

We went over this in the now deceased F4 forum. Reed's dad is far more abusive and a general a-hole than Ben's brother.
They didn't really go as far as they could trying to "Hollow Man" Sue or having Reed who couldn't keep himself together (to the point where all his limbs are wrangled up). They also didn't have Harvey Elder AND Mole Man in all his disgusting glory with his monsters. Nor Doom with his goat legs.

I'm not sure about the box office, but in terms of keeping my personal interest in the movies, I'd like a complete revamp in terms of film-making/story-telling style. If they made a comic accurate X-men film that embraced the colorful lunacy that has been a huge part of the comics, I'd personally be chomping at the bit to see that.

Singer to his credit, did set it up for that. In many ways, this felt like Singer saying good bye to how he set up the films.
