Apocalypse X-Men: Apocalypse Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 3

Back on track.

Think the movie's legs will depend on how it competes with TMNT 2 (can't wait for the best cbm of 2016) this week, Warcraft the next (apparently not as many are enthused, but I figured people remotely interested in WoW/Warcraft/another fantasy flick would) and Finding Dory the week after. So, 3 weeks until the animated sequel, which has the most likely chance to dethrone.
After that, Apoc's run is pretty much over because Fox's "sure-fired hit" of yet another "long-awaited" sequel releases.

Depp isn't Depp anymore, no Burton. Writing was on the wall with that one. Doesn't bode well for PoTC 5.

I think Potc 5 will do fine, jack sparrow is a character people love, yeah depp isn't the big draw he was but if the character is still a draw then its all good

Yeah but WB are not gonna cancel justice league because of BVS, they won't recast the main players because they know what they have and they know they can fix it, they know it would have made more if it had been a better movie.

They may not even make it to Justice League part II. No way Snyder will be back if it's another disaster, which I'd bet on. WB has been an utter mess. Even Fox has a better track record this decade. They still have Suicide Squad however, even though the trailers have given away the film already.

Can we at least wait till Homecoming releases before we declare that Marvel has the golden touch to revive fallen properties.

No, we don't have to wait. Not sure how old you are but I'm a kid of the 70s and in the 90s we had Captain America movies. Cheesy bombs--all of them. Today, that is a billion dollar franchise. Marvel actually made even international audiences give a damn about a character named Captain AMERICA. If you want even more recent proof, Daredevil was a critical and financial failure with FOX. Now it is one of the most critically acclaimed and successful series on television. And we won't even mention the many low-profile characters they've made into international box office phenomenons like Iron Man, Ant-Man, Guardians, etc.

Say what you want, but Marvel has a plan--and it works. They have managed to pull in both the fanboy community AND general audiences. Meanwhile, FOX is bleeding viewers as this weekend's box office receipts show.

There is a chance that Apocalypse might finish less domestically than Ant-man, a property Zack Snyder once proclaimed 'flavor of the week'.

WB put all their stock in BvS that it was going to be a billion dollar hit and hype up its upcoming slate. Thats the risk in preplanning a cinematic universe. When the first fail to click with audiences where does that leave you?

Guys, they are saying 80M after today for the MDW but I think it's going to be a little less.

There defo will be changes after apocalypse but i don't think they will be as drastic as well its time to leave this cast behind.

it probably could have been a billion dollar hit if the reviews were not bad

I actually dig this cast and would hope they get a chance to shine.

They might get a chance to shine, but without Singer. Singer will just give the spotlight to Mystique and Magneto again if he has the chance.

Im sure WB wishes it was.

I am almost inclined to say they will just include whatever Xmen characters they want to use in the Deadpool series just like they did with Colossus. Deadpool takes place in present day right? Forget 80's and 90's and just roll. Build the franchise back from there. There is just very little growth with Xmen right now 16 years in.

At least it's not doing as badly as Alice. That thing didn't even get an opening weekend to drop from!

He actually didn't give mystique anymore spotlight then he did cyclops, jean and nightcrawler.

As for magneto he isn't a character people are sick of, people may be sick of them finding ways to make him the villain but people ain't sick of the character.

I hated Mystique with them at the end training the team.

I would have prefered if it ended with Mystique leaving "to walk the Earth" like Caine from Kung-fu or Jules from Pulp Fiction.

The bigger story seems to be how much of a bomb alice was

The growth you would get with deadpool is him becoming the face of the X-Men, it would end up a more deadpool-esk universe while deadpool carries it on his shoulders.

Between that and his domestic issues with Amber Heard, Depp is not having a good time nowadays.

Magneto feels more like a supporting character that you just expect to see in some capacity in these films. Its just that in films like X2 and FC and DOFP he manages to make his evil presence known again once they dispose of that film's main villain. Its just becoming so cliche. Like I said before.......stale and repetitive.

They won't risk dropping magneto, no way, but the ending of apocalypse did make it seem like they finished with all that magneto being the villain now and they only had him leave pretty much so quicksilver could stay with the X-Men

I think they will respond by dropping singer and not paying for Jennifer Lawrence to come back.I would say up In the air on Michael fassbender.

next X-men film Is coming most likely In 2020.as for what kind of film it will
be that is very much In the air.fox will probally give it a much smaller budget
than the reported 178 million on apocalypse.probally 150 to 160 million.

But his solo movies only do ok at the box office, 400 mil worldwide, when he is alone it doesn't interest people apparently he needs to be with others before people rush to see wolverine in a movie ;p

That's the point I was making. Some people don't want to go see an X-Men without Wolverine and some people don't want to go see a Wolverine movie without the X-Men.

But you just can't ignore the 2 X-Men movies that featured Wolverine the least are the 2 worst OW for an X-Men film.

But there was interest in a solo Wolverine, Origins had a $85m OW and that was 7 years ago. But the movie was just god awful and its legs were cut off after the first weekend.
