That'd be awesome if it was just called Uncanny X-Men. But I can't see that happening

Yeah, there is no rush. They have New Mutants and Deadpool 2 in the pipeline (maybe Gambit?), so they can take their time to get the right creative team and director.

Good news about China. Fox will be happy X-Men is popular there as the market is growing rapidly (unlike the US which is stale).

Warcraft will probably be huge there so X-Men could take a hit.

Well, yeah, it's definitelly seeing that China is becoming a bigger market.
But how much % does the studio get? I know that they get half of what they get of the USA releases.

Overall, is China really considered as a "movie saviour" nowdays?
Because, yes, I keep bringing this example, regarding the last Terminator movie - Genysis.
Its last release was China. And it made over 100m there. And everybody were like happy for the movie making some huge money there. And at the end of the day, the movie was still a flop. And the sequels idea they had were poof.

The U.S studios usually get 25-30% of the box office in China, that's why China didn't Genisys.

That's the weird thing with the continual focus on US box office. There have been other films before that clean up internationally but, because they didnt do so well in US they're considered flops still dont get sequels. Golden Compass is still a great example of this, which WW did comparable to Star Trek or Batman Begins but was still considered a huge enough flop to not get a sequel.

I say 2019, they need to get a far better script together. They don't need to rush things.

Yes. Get a new director with a fresh take (it'd be great if Singer stayed on as producer, however) and please bring back Jane Goldman as screenwriter. It would really help.

I really don't see why. These comic title-rebrandings didn't work for The Incredible Hulk or The Amazing Spider-Man. Neither were incredible or amazing, and they also were disappointments at the box office.

I think there is a reason Marvel Studios also elected to avoid "Ultimate Spider-Man" or "Spectacular Spider-Man" for next year's standalone. A nice bit of fan service that does not really communicate much to the general audience, as it turns out.

Honestly, I think China is just important for keeping face. Even if you aren't actually making a lot of money from China, it can give you a number to keep investors happy.

It is a pity about the release date. If it had run like DOFP, we could be looking at 150+ from China. It could still see 100+, if it holds a bit better than BvS.

Also, China could be why I see a Pacific Rim 2. So, praise China.

Yea I just said I don't see it happening lol.

I really don't see how they are making a PR2 movie.
I mean, compare it even to Terminator: Genysis. It made even less than it, and it had even a bigger budget.
It made even less in China.

I don't know how PC2 is happening. Maybe they want a second shot, with a lesser budget. I don't know.
But yeah, thanks for reminding me. Pacific Rim is another movie example that it is considered "saved" by China. Which I don't see how that is possible.

A Chinese company bought Legendary so the 25% rule won't apply to Pacific Rim 2.

I am happy this means we will get a sequel with this cast. I just hope that in addition to being better than Apocalypse, it attracts a lot more American audiences than this one did.

Just throwing it out there, imagine: Edgar Wright's X-Men - He takes this cast to space!

It would definitely look different.

yeah sign me up for 2019 release

2018 to muddy
plus u'd be dealing with intergalatic war fare with Thanos
nah

2019 good
take ur time
develop script

I don't think it's about the time. It's about the talent involved. You could give Kinberg four years to write an X-Men film and it still would be a mess.

Of course, rushing a team to write a sequel isn't good either, but you get my point.

2019 is even worse.
Because it will be the culmination of the intergalactic warfare with Thanos.
And Justice League 2 will also be around the corner.

oh i thought the IW movies were in 2018?

Part 1 in 2018, Part 2 in 2019 :)

Overall, I don't know when is a "good" time for X-Men movies now.
I mean, they had the May spot and they got it strong with DoFP.
But now, it's the downfall again. Yes, it's making some money. But when a movie called "Me Before You" and not that a lot of people on here even heard of it, can make a run for its money, I don't think the other studios will see X-Men as that big competition nowdays.

Well April and March are fine waters. Jungle Book, Fast and Furious, the first Hunger Games, and (as crappy as it is) Batman v Superman all do well in those months. So that seems like an easy fit to me.

Wonder if the untitled March 2018 movie is indeed a X-Men movie.

The problem was release three major CBM in a span of a couple months. Can't happen. Let IW and JL boil over. People will want the next big "A" list property once Avengers and JL finish up. That's when you go back to X-Men. 2020 or 2021 will be fine. Frankly, I'm hoping we don't see this crew for another 7-8 years. Jump to the 90's when it will actually look realistic in terms of aging.

In the meantime, make an X-Men Origins: Gambit (one that involves some X-Men but does not feature them). Deadpool will get at least another three films, two sequels plus X-Force. X-Force ends with Cable going back in time to the 90's. This jump starts the next X-Men trilogy.

Depends on what else is there. If other more successful properties are already there, you won't want to mess with them. No one wants to be anywhere near Beauty and the Beast next year.

Beauty and the Beast making 400+ million domestically wouldn't surprise me.
