Good to know this stuff. I had no idea the rights situation was different.

Here's a couple of links regarding Wade's odd arrangement:

https://www.thestreet.com/story/134...dpool-is-paying-dividends-for-disney-too.html

In any case, the continuance of the X-Men contract is not contingent on Wade as the New Mutants rights ARE part of the initial 1993 agreement. The film is listed as X-Men: The New Mutants in IMDB and will reset the X-Men cinematic rights clock.

Thank you. :)

The long and the short of it is Marvel aren't ever going to get the X-Men back.
I think there is a chance Marvel will get Fantastic Four back.

Ever is a long time lol. We don't know yet if the GA will go for spinoffs to a series that they're already not that enthusiastic about. i hope so but I don't know if I'd rate the chance as much more than 50/50.

Never say never.

But perhaps not in our lifetime. It will happen when superhero movies make as much as Western movies do nowadays.

When you're on the verge of bankruptcy, you tend to make irrational decisions.

Plus, Avi Arad was behind the deals that sold the rights off.

The idea to do this wasn't bad necessarily at that time, but the execution was not the best as Marvel itself had a small cut and also the studios were able to keep hold of the the properties in perpetuity such as X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spiderman.

55-60% drop according to Deadline for this weekend. TMNT only predicted to do 30-35 million.

best case sceniro domesticly for second weekend is 25 million.if we we are luck maybe a little bit more.

well i will do my job friday to help box office by seeing apocalypse again.

Saw it yesterday after work, I can see why critics and some fans didn't enjoy it. When I wasn't bored I was cringing. People talk about Marvel villains but I'm about tired seeing Magneto go from evil to good or good to evil.

Have no desire to see it again. Going to assume that's why the box office will be pretty bad compared to the last film. Not many will see the movie again.

It'd be hard for Mags to be seen as the good guy by humans at least ever again [BLACKOUT]given his bodycount here.[/BLACKOUT]

A bunch of my coworkers want to see it, they asked if I wanted to come along and I agreed, so I'll be seeing it early Saturday.

Since we don't really see outside of the battle chances are no one even knew he was responsible, apparently singer was very sensitive to the whole mass destruction thing of showing people die and buildings being destroyed so he just stuck things like cars and containers

I was thinking of the bit where
he kills all the police (or whatever they are) when they kill his daughter. Was a bit surprised by that, especially as the fatal blow on his daughter seemed to be an accident (which he might not have been aware of - can't remember)

If it makes like 500m WW, they are losing money on the box office run.

Ant Man made about 520M on a 130M budget so I'd say to perform similarly, it would need to make 600+M.

EDIT: I don't think it would necessarily lose money at around 500M, but probably wouldn't make too much.

$178m/$130m =36.9% higher budget
Ant Man WW $520m x 1.369 = $712m for equivalence if you are only going on production budget vs worldwide gross (which is a simplification of course)

On topic, it had a solid 6.5 mil Tue.

86 million now domesticly.190 Million Overseas.277 Million worldwide.by weekend's end it should WW outgross original X-men.it's overseas take is almost at X2 and Origins.

It is a lesser Mon-Tue drop than what DOFP had, but I think discount Tue has become a bit more ingrained, so we will see how the rest of the week plays. I think 9 mill for Wed/Thur, to bring us at around 94 going into the second weekend.

Yeah. I see what you're saying and it's more accurate than what I said. I was thinking that "well, it cost about 50M more, so if they gross 100M more, they'll make about the same". I wasn't really looking at return on investment.
