Apocalypse X-Men: Apocalypse Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 6

Nope not that bad

My eyes!

That never ceases to horrify me. How did shots like that ever see release?

Well, there's no doubt new creative blood is needed.

The X-Men just aren't hitting the spot. When I mention X-Men to people at work, they show no interest or enthusiasm whatsoever. But I remember people going on about seeing Captain America, Batman v Superman, Guardians, Deadpool and, to some extent, Suicide Squad.

The X-Men just aren't part of pop culture. For a series about underdogs and minorities fighting for a place in the world, it's clear the film series itself is in that position.

I didn't hate XM:A and it had a very good audience reaction at the media/bloggers screening I attended, but it's clear that something is wrong. Lack of merchandising and a crowded release date did not help. The Ivan Ooze criticisms all over the internet didn't help to sell the poorly portrayed villain. And there were, as someone else said, no strong action beats (or sense of spectacle) like there was in DoFP. Overall, all the factors came together against the film in one way or another.

For starters as long as Fox continues to make films there will never be merchadizing

i always take new creative blood as saying we want X-Men films to be like Marvel studios.one half of apocalypse main creative team involvement in future X_Men films is very questable at this moment.

Even if next X-Men film takes X-Men into outer space with shiar and involves having to save the universe it won't be lightheated way GOTG was.

People thinking X-Men will ever gross a billion dollors are fooling themselves.X-Men's entire thing reloves around dram and dealing with issues.Apocalypse makes civil war look like a comedy.

like them or not MCU is more comedic and about characters having fun and jokes.Deadpool is closest thing in X-Men universe to MCU though Deadpool does things you will never see In MCU.

as for DC if you think apocalypse had bad reviews they are nothing compared to BVS and SS reviews.and question is can WB keep audences intrested when their DC films keep getting panned.darkness in DCEU is nothing compared to X-Men.

It's astonshing that disney partned with fox on 2 X related tv shows when they have done everything possable to help Kill X-Men films.

as for the ivan ozze cracks.it shows the double stadards internet uses for marvel VS fox.a year and a half before FF hit theaters fox was trashed for casting a black actor as johnny storm yet marvel can change most of supporting cast of Spider-man races or ages and internet barely says anything.

With exception of deadpool II and possably X-force none of X related films are going to reach the films you describe.

wolverine film whatever it ends up being called is likely domesticly to do less than apocalypse.and fox needs to get off it's butts and start releasing some stuff about it like now.If Gambit is ever made it may do better than first class and apocalypse but doudtful it reaches appeal of deadpool or original X-Men trilogy.Channing Tatum can help to a point with it's box office.good reviews or bad new mutants could be a first class style success.

right now another X-Men film is a question mark.

so yes if fox gave up and gave X-Men to disney and made X-Men supporting characters in Avengers films then yes box office would go up.
ignoring my dislike on the idea since MCU is really avengers cinematic universe as far as the films go.even spider-man homecoming has major avengers influence.this is unlikely

1:Fox isn't Sony.it's fiancial shape is less desperate
2:fox has Deadpool, new mutants, and X-force in pipeline after whatever jackman's final wolverine appearance is called.that isn't even getting into possabilty of gambit getting made
3:Disney/marvel already replacing mutants with inhumans
4:If failure of FF didn't get disney/marvel FF then fox certinly isn't parting with X-Men.I anticapte FF reverting in 2022

Anyone saying X-Men can't hit a billion is fooling themselves. Most these comic film series have that potential. X-Men can, just not with films like Apocalypse.

As been said a billion times they don't use the characters to their potential. It's not quantum physics. A bad script and poor character adaptations like say Apocalypse, Psylocke and Archangel are not helping this franchise. It's ruining it and making these characters seem very unimportant to the franchise. They can't keep throwing down potential.

We need better films and character representations then this if X-men want's to succeed more then it ever has. Cyclops and Jean finallly had something to do as co-stars, but it's in a not so well received film. So now they have to work their asses off to make sure people will give a **** about characters who should have been the main focus since day one.

Needing new creative blood shouldn't even be up for debate. It's a requirement at this point. Doesn't mean it has to be like Marvel. It means they need to step it up and start doing something different for these characters.

X-men currently under the Fox guidance right now can not hit $1B. I thought that Miller had more power than he did but evidently he doesn't. There's just to many chefs in the kitchen to make a simple burger that the average every day man would want to eat.

Yes to the entirety of this, I wish there were some way to make our voices heard and for them to fix this franchise.

I'd be shocked if the next X-Men film has Singer/Kinberg as anything other than producers.

But, why does the franchise need to hit a billion. Chasing the billion leads to trouble (hi WB!!!!). There is nothing wrong if the budget is correct, that the movies can be successful without hitting a billion.

Granted, it is an annoying stat that pops up in studio wars.

Apocalypse kicked ass. Creative team is fine. Keep it far away from Disney.

I never said it did. Was responding to another poster's post. But I'd say it should because both Marvel and DC have done so. The highest Fox has done with a superhero property before Deadpool was $700M WW. For a name brand franchise, that's really not that good.

Fox would take Disney's superhero numbers any day of the week over the one's they've made. :o

You are right they would take Disney CBM numbers, although Deadpool did make more money than the majority of the MCU without China on a much smaller budget.I think Fox will take that.

No one is saying that it should hit a billion.

Honestly i don't think there are that many chefs in the kitchen, which is pretty much why continuity is the way it is, everyone gets to play in the sandbox with their vision but with obviously a few rules and resctrictions to follow, its just the X-Men movies are trying to be different and the producers don't grab at the marvel formula hooks because they have a different mind set about it.

Exactly! Such a tired argument.

All arguments here are tired.

Some of you are basically arguing X-Men can't make money like other studios cause we should be satisfied with movies like Apocalypse. Well yeah, keep making movies like that and X-Men won't even make 600m. Or 400m next round for that matter.

Who gives a **** if the argument is 800m or a billion. The point is X-Men should be making more money. The fact people don't think X-Men is worthy of higher numbers is sad. X3's domestic numbers are basically BvS numbers today. X-Men can hit numbers beyond 800m ww in todays era with stronger films.

No one ever said that... you're reaching trying to connect the two.

They are arguing against the franchise making more, cause they like it the way it is.

Just because someone thinks the creative team that made DOFP a success isn't bad and hasn't turned on them does not mean that they are willing to except anything given to them. Again... reaching.

What's the argument here? That X-Men doesn't have the potential to hit a billion or make more money by improving it's content? Or that X-Men can hit a billion in the state it's in?

The point overall is that this franchise is starting to drown and there is far more potential here. If all you can argue against is the whole billion thing then you are missing the point. X-Men isn't making the money it should, and won't do so until it improves on it's faults. Nothing needs to hit a billion. But saying it doesn't even have the potential to go there....that's brining this property pretty low. Of course it has that potential. Always will.

No you edited your comment it read much more pompous but you keep editing for some reason... Anyway it matters not as I agree that it could make more. It's just the subliminal slamming of anyone who likes the franchise is getting really old.

I edit my comments cause I'm the worst with spell checks. The point has always been the same and there are plenty posts above to show that. Nobody on here said it has to make a billion. Just that it could be more successful and that the franchise has potential to hit that mark.

When it comes to slamming the franchise, that will sadly happen until they fix their mistakes.

Exactly! X-men should be making more than what it is and it seems like people are happy and making excuses for Fox which shouldn't be the case. They have not reached their potential or ceiling at all! They seem to be regressing!
