haha, what? Why do you need a logical explanation for something that happens naturally all the time?

Next, we're going to find that the audience needs an explanation why Xavier looks older in the future and how he could possibly have aged. :o

A scene of him in the shower looking at hair in his hands narrating how it sucks to get old or something or other just seems unnecessary. A bit of a waste of time.

Alright fine he loses his hair in 10 years from natural hair loss and shaves the rest

Who thought it would be that simple

It would be more interesting if due to some kind of mental power thing he loses his hair.

Why suddenly now though? He's been using his mental powers since the 1960s now. It should have fallen out gradually from prolonged use. Why suddenly after 20 years does it drop?

Some kind of super cerebro reading ? Maybe Apocalypse gets in his head. Maybe he finds Jean with Cerebro and it does it to him. I dunno.

I'd be fine with natural hair loss, but something more significant could be Xavier losing his hair as a result of the enhanced psychic abilities he receives after being turned into one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse.

They could do it and be no worse off for it. It just seems like overthinking to me. Shaved heads in general gained popularity in the 80s. That's about as much reasoning they gave his long hair in the 70s.

Maybe the hair loss is a long-term side effect from the serum he was taking to restore use of his legs.

McAvoy said he wanted Charles losing his hair to be significant instead of just being chalked up to old age or whatever. I think if Charles lose his hair in Apocalypse we will see him do something we've never seen him do before or something will happen to him. Like, he'll battle the Phoenix psychically or shut down Apocalypse mentally and the exertion of that causes his hair to fall out.

I like the idea of Jean/Phoenix losing control after the final fight and then Charles has to mentally help Jean take back control of her powers causing so much strain on him that he loses his hair.

Maybe his students are so ill-disciplined in the classroom that he tears his hair out in frustration.

^LMAO

or maybe he had a tough fight on the astral plane?

I was looking on a swimming website and happened by chance to see an article that swimming pools containing too much chlorine can cause regular swimmers' hair to fall out.

Maybe Professor X goes swimming in a pool with too much chlorine and that's how he loses his hair. :hehe:

I never viewed Xavier's baldness the same as Lex Luthor's bald. Since I ever saw Pro. X as old man I just assumed that he shaves his hair because it got thinner as he aged or just didn't want to deal with hairstyles or he figured he looks better bald.

I don't see why it has to be story point or anything big deal. Is there a big reason why he is bald in the comics?

In the comics he loses his hair in his teens because of his powers.

Well that ship has clearly sailed here. He's already of the age now in the films where he could easily lose it to natural means.

I remember during FIRST CLASS days there was a rumor that his hair fell out after pushing his powers to the limit. I'd like to see that instead of natural baldness.

Does that mean that Jean Grey's hair might fall out too if she pushes her powers to the limit?

I don't see why the guy can't just be bald without explanation

people go bald, it happens, I've seen them, some younger then other, just saying

I know it'll look alittle unnatureal on McAvoy since he's still young, but, at this point in the timeline, he's suppose to be playing much older, so him being natural bald, or at least balding would be a good way to show that age (an I kinda hope at this point they give him some old age make up)

they probably should've set this up, by showing some aging in DOFP, and maybe, like a receding hairline or something... but, it is 10 years later, a lot can change in 10 years

Charles was supposed to be in his mid 20s in FC, so in DoFP being a decade later he'd be late 20s/early 30s at the youngest. Balding happens early for a lot of guys in their early 30s.
It really needs no explanation unlike his walking in DoFP.

IDK. I have a feeling like him going bald is going to be played up as the final exclamation point of his three-movie arc to becoming "classic" Xavier. I seriously doubt that the movie will start off with him bald, or that he'll lose it in some random way. No, it will most likely be played up as a big deal.

Maybe someone will put super glue on the inside of Cerebro. Would have to be Quicksilver so that he can get in there quickly so that the glue is still wet when Xavier is putting it on.

Even if that happens, he wouldnt completely lose his hair. It would probably just damage his hair but his hair won't stop growing.
