Apocalypse X-Men Apocalypse News and Discussion - Part 3

No. I say have Storm in this movie, but the story about her time in Africa and her past with the Shadow King deserves to be it's own separate story.
And the AoA doesn't really count. Many many people were Poccy's henchmen in that, he had almost taken over the entire planet.

Shadow King is a strong enough villain to be the main bad in a movie. He's predominantly portrayed as a manipulator and mastermind, not as a henchman.

^ I definitely don't see them using Shadow King in this Apocalypse movie. Shoot, I'm not even holding my breath that we'll see Sinister, even though that would make a lot of sense...

Although I've always liked Shadow King as a villain in the comics, I just feel there are way too many better villains to portray on the big screen.

Sinister/Marauders, Magneto/Alcolytes/Cortez, D'Ken and the Imperial Guard, Onslaught, Juggernaught (never mind, he's ruined), the Phalanx, the Brood, Stryfe/MLF, Selene, the White Queen (sorry, again ruined - but maybe they could fix it), Nimrod, Mojo (maybe too campy?), Dark Beast (hmm...), the Externals, Freedom Force (led by Mystique please...), etc.

The problem with Storm is this...

In the comics she went from being a street thief in Cairo to Africa where she became worshipped as a Goddess. If they have her in this movie as a 16 year old in Cairo, as I am hoping, it would be very difficult to put her as a Goddess in Africa. If she was there prior to Cairo then did she have her powers? If so, why at such a young age? And if so, why didn't Xavier find her until now? Makes more sense that her powers will fully come out at the beginning of this movie, which brings Xavier to Cairo, if that's where she'll be introduced, which would mean that she wasn't previously worshipped as a Goddess in Africa...

Kind of feel that we can't have it both ways. It needs to be either Africa or Cairo, and to me, Cairo just fits so much more!

I have a feeling we're not getting Hugh Jackman this time around.

James McAvoy - Professor X
Michael Fassbender - Magneto
Jennifer Lawrence - Mystique
Nicolas Hoult - Beast
Oscar Isaac - Apocalypse
Sophie Turner - Jean Grey
Tye Sheridan - Cyclops
Alexandra Shipp - Storm

If that's the cast they are putting out, then they will not be growing business beyond the FC cast and their following. Maybe that's the point though, actually getting audiences to care about the characters and telling an epic story. Otherwise, this cast does nothing for me.

Jackman brings immediate credibility. Tatum would bring immediate sex appeal. But neither are confirmed as of yet. And they didn't go with a big actor for Apocalypse. But the big names did not help DoFP domestically all that much either. Curious to see what budget they give this thing. I'm expecting 250, but Singer may not get as much this time around.

You forgot Evan Peters. He's supposed to come back as well.

And of course they'll fit in Jackman. They always find a way!

I doubt Jackman will have more than a cameo, unless he shows up as one of Apocolypse's Horsemen.

Would not surprise me if it's Apocalypse who gives him the Adamantium in this timeline.

Ok, so it's:

James McAvoy - Professor X
Michael Fassbender - Magneto
Jennifer Lawrence - Mystique
Nicolas Hoult - Beast
Oscar Isaac - Apocalypse
Sophie Turner - Jean Grey
Tye Sheridan - Cyclops
Alexandra Shipp - Storm
Evan Peters - Quicksilver - RUMORED
Channing Tatum - Gambit - RUMORED
Hugh Jackman - Wolverine - RUMORED

Quicksilver isn't rumored, he's in.

Quicksilver isn't rumored, the VFX guy on the movie has already talked about how they have another great scene with him in the script.

Great to have these casting decisions confirmed, I'm so looking forward to this.

I would so love to see the Shiar in an movie but your paragraph about Storm is not right. You realize mutant powers usually activate during puberty so not necessarily would she have to be 16 to get powers. Also there is an explanation as to why Xavier hasn't found her yet in Dofp he had given up on that he wasn't trying to find anyone until the end of the movie when he decided to try and who knows how long that took. So it can still very well work if they make her the worshipped goddess or the thief in Cairo I know you want your story to happen but it's not the only option.

I wonder if they are going to go with the Ultimate X-Men origin for Storm, where I believe she grew up on the streets of NY or something. I forget.

^ You're right. Then she moved to Texas and became a thief.

I like the African origin better IMO. It has too much juice to explore on incoming movies.

If they changed her origin to the stupid Ultimate one, there will be hell to pay. Her African origins are way to popular to get rid of. That IS Storm.

Lupita Nyong'o is too old for what they're going for. Save her for the eventual reboot.

Sansa Stark is the new Jean Grey wow. I'm down with that, I don't know the work of anyone else but I'll give them a shot.

Yup I been saying this. Shadow King is a superior villain in powerset and methods.

It's actually pretty similar to the ensemble cast of DoFP:

James McAvoy - Professor X
Michael Fassbender - Magneto
Jennifer Lawrence - Mystique
Hugh Jackman - Wolverine
Patrick Stewart - Professor X (future)
Ian McKellan - Magneto (future)
Nicolas Hoult - Beast
Peter Dinklage - Trask

Note: Actors/characters with the least amount of screen time (e.g., Quicksilver, Bishop, Warpath) are excluded from the ensemble category.

There's never been a X-Men film without Wolverine. Obviously he's a villain this time plus Apocalypse always has one Xman on his team

It would be foolish to have Gambit come out months later and not introduce him. I'm expecting a Deadpool cameo

Also young Nightcrawler for comedic relief as well.
Havok should be the field leader and possibly die infront of Cyclops by Wolverine

Toad possibly Scarlet Witch/Polaris on Magneto side as well

Wolverine as Death but still at least three more villain spots to fill

that would be pretty wicked. heightens wolvie and scott's rivalry. And introduces more ways to develop Scott's commitment to justice.

^ Sorry, but Havok being in this movie makes almost no sense at all.

Think about this a second...

In First Class Havok was what, maybe 18 years old? That was in 1967 I believe. It's now 1983 and he would be 34 years old!

Now Havok isn't Professor X or Beast, who it makes sense to be on the team since they pretty much made the team. Those two will be mentor roles, which makes sense. In other words, neither will be the field leader, which needs to be Cyclops' role. Professor X will be the teacher, and Beast will likely be the inventor/instructor role (my guess is he'll invent the Danger Room, and maybe even Cyclops' visor).

IMO, Havok should either not be in this movie, or at worst could be a Horseman or part of Mystique's Brotherhood, if that's the route they go...

Actually, I'd rather this new young Scott make some reference to his Uncle, who is a mutant, or something like that. That little bit could give us hope for a younger brother that goes by the codename Havok (after his Uncle), which could give hope of an X-Force with Polaris. Anyway...

There are really only two good ways to do Apocalypse's Horsemen. One is with Wolverine as Death, and the other is with Archangel, which is more difficult due to Last Stand, but still possible through a storyline I came up with (baby Warren taken and transformed, which includes aging)...

Other options that are less desireable are making Mystique or Erik or Beast or Professor X or Havok into Horsemen. I'll be very disappointed if it turns out to be this instead of Wolvie or Archangel!
