Hmm beloved characters, half way twist. So if its not a death, maybe its the introduction of a popular Xman that we haven't seen yet. Gambit maybe?

Please dont say its wolverine lol

whatever it takes for Kinberg to ignore that adult X-Men are alive in present day
Lets bring more mess to the franchise, why not!

interesting
by the way he talks, it's not death the big thing in the movie
but I can not imagine what it is

The only massive twist I can see is that there is some type of time displacement? The younger team are brought into the present timeline?

and I think that some important character will reveal that he is a skrull :loco: my head is boiling

I think if it was something time travel this would be circulating on websites, or some journalist would have said.

Not necessarily. Any reputable entertainment journalist wouldn't reveal that information, let alone this far ahead of release otherwise they'd be blocked from any further movie releases. A blogger/scooper? Absolutely if they had the info.

The young X-Men travel through time to present day MCU.

It's...it's gonna happen.

Not going to lie - this was my initial thought as well. Something happening that would tie them to the MCU or at least tie them closer to Deadpool/New Mutants/Gambit/X-Force etc.

With the new deadpool trailer leaving tomorrow
I think the way is free to finally see the first darkphoenix trailer in April.

I like Alex a lot but I have to say I’ve never been a fan of this new humour that seems to have come through with this generation (I’m 25 so I’m included) whereby nothing is sacred anymore. Jenifer Lawrence started a lot of it as quirky but it’s rolled into everything where people say anything and not retain any dignity.

There were reports that Mistique turns out to be a skrull...hopefully that idea is never said by anyone ever again

Still remember?

"As reported in EW on Wednesday, X-Men: Dark Phoenix “includes a massive twist halfway through that will irrevocably change the course of the franchise” and will be “the most sinister, and somber, chapter in the saga."

Or...the synopsis (and EW) are just overselling the "massive twist" and said twist doesn't irrevocably change the course of the franchise.

Well...I am actually trying to think of what could top the tease to DOFP.

Opening up a multiverse, maybe.

You are younger than me.

We really wanna count how many action figures from the cartoon you can find on Amazon? And how many of....let's see, Gundam?

I let you count them.

ah.. so you're old and out of touch then?....... are you seriously gaging popularity by what can be found on amazon???????????????????????????????

The 1990's X-Men cartoon was very popular or a cartoon. I'm sure that had an impact on the decision to develop a film. But the popularity of the cartoon, like the popularity of the comics, or videogames, is still somewhat relative when considering the awareness general audiences have of a property.

The cartoon and toylines reached a certain generation, but the X-Men were still largely an "unknown" or lesser known brand to many when the film came out in 2000, especially compared to well known heroes like Superman, Batman and Spider-Man.

indeed. the X-men's height of popularity hit it's highest from those born from like 1970 - 1995 (if that) most of those who were older didn't grow up reading x-men, the X-men didn't hit mass appeal until much later... But parents and now grandparents, did grow up reading Spider-Man... so to compare the 2 is a bit ... well i'll just say "out of touch"

I don't really see time travel being a twist "half-way through" the film as it would deviate from the main plot which is Dark Phoenix. Maybe as an ending stinger. And no way to tying it to the MCU. Both sides have said it's business as usual because the deal hasn't been finalized. And I don't think that's something they could be lying about, the acquisition is something very serious, and as Feige said, "above his payroll".

I think it's alien-related. The Skrulls haven't been oficially confirmed (have they?), I believe they think by expanding their reach and introducing to the franchise alien races and space travel the "course" of the franchise will be changed, because it opens the door to space adventures and new threats, a corner they haven't explored.

My two cents.

Perfect
should be this, the opening to this "alien world", space travel, other planets and etc, something that was never even mentioned or explored in the franchise.

What the **** is dignity? :o

Yep. That's what I think. Anyway I think it's interesting how they're overhyping this twist. Will it meet expectations?

I honestly still think it's just Raven dying. From us fans it could not be a big deal, but from the producers perspective it's like killing off Ned Stark. She is the hero of the franchise and her death would have a massive impact in all those characters. And I can easily see why those magazine can see her death as a game changing twist.

Yeah, that's a possibility too: revealing the Skrulls as a twist.

But at the same time, they say that this turnaround and something very somber, the skrull can be seen as something somber and sinister?
I do not know what to think anymore

I just don't know why Jean killing someone would be a twist when she did the same thing twice in The Last Stand...
