Imagine if this movie does super well? Like, I really, really doubt it will be a Black Panther level success, but imagine it is. What does Disney do then? I know a lot of people would go Feige would reboot anyways, and I imagine he still would, but maybe it would open the door to like a Secret Wars film where Beyonder pulls in characters from different universes.

Thanos can do that all by himself in Infinity War i.e. repercussions from using the gauntlet or even Scarlet Witch maybe trying to reverse deaths etc. I think the timeline will definitely deviate after IW and a new timeline will be the focus of future MCU movies..

Change is bound for both Avengers and X-Men.

Who knows, will be an interesting next 10 years.

Rumor has it that X-men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool will feature in Phase 4, even though the Eternals were also rumored to usher in that phase. But since Phase 4 is going cosmic, there are plenty of cosmic stories in the X-universe. Yet, I wonder what the big twist is in Dark Phoenix that will supposedly change "everything" or if they will even connect that to MCU somehow since Captain Marvel is also set in the 90s? And I wonder why Marvel decided to go back in time (as the X-men Franchise had done for several films) to the 90s and how that will play out in future Marvel films? Questions, questions....

Seems like Russos/Markus/McFreely hit another homerun. Get these guys to do the MCU X-Men.

I doubt it will. I am already eXpecting it to underperform at the box office.

Serious question: what would possess you to think this will do Black Panther level numbers?

Yeah It’s not doing BP level numbers. That movie was something much sort after on cb films, diversity, as well as having cultural impact. Good word of mouth, built from a good movie helped. If Dph doesn’t quite tick boxes for a “perfect storm” that helped BP exceed billion at box office.

Not saying that Dark Phoenix won’t be a good movie, however we’ve seen good x men movies fall to weak box office results, ala first class. To the second part, never say never ( I’m in the minority and like the younger cast and want more movies from them lol) but even if a miracle happened and Dph managed to be a good movie and be the highest grossing in the franchise, I still think to door to a crossover is (unfortunately) firmly closed.

From what Feige has said recently some have speculated it won't be until phase 5.

He has pretty much said whatever happens it will take a "handful of years" and certainly "won't impact the next 5 movies".

I don't think most comic book films will come close to Black Panther's gross unless it has the space and no competition. That's just wishful thinking.

And we already know you're eXpecting the worse in every way possible regardless, psy. That's been well-established at this point.

Anyway, according to the rumors
the marvel will not use the xmen so early, probably in 7 years or more
so if DP goes well at the box office, he can just wait for long years until people forget about it.

But I think they'll use some actors from that young cast, maybe the mcAvoy and fassbender

I doubt they would make an eXception and keep certain people from the young cast who aren't even bringing the big bucks. McAvoy doesn't even look the part compare to Patrick Stewart. While they would probably cast another actor for Magneto. anyway they'd have their own version and I don't think it would help differentiating their version from FoX, by keeping the same actor in the role.

Actually when it comes to appearance, McAvoy is just as good. In fact, he might be even closer to the comics than Stewart.

nothing is impossible
McAvoy and fassbender are very well praised in their work, I think they are perfect in their roles, logically they still do not have the same impact as the previous ones, this takes time, no new cast manages to conquer public quickly, so it would not be insane if marvel choose some for their "new version", this would in a way please everyone, does not prevent them from doing something new and different with them, and would not cause confusion of the public with again a total cast change

It's been 7 years, and a whole trilogy of movies since First Class...Most actors have ONE movie to wow the audience to allow them to forget the previous iteration. Stop making excuses.

no new cast manages to conquer public quickly

Ruffalo, Bale, Caine, Ledger, Holland, Tomei, Cox, Yung, D'onofrio, Bernthal et al all beg to differ.

The general audience are not as clueless as you think. Well most aren't lol

Most people nowadays follow pop culture news, or at least look up the movies they're about to watch before they show up at the theatre.

If you're going to take your examples and go for more depth, just prove my point.

I do not know all the mentioned actors, but they are unique characters, or new characters (little known) to most of the audience. but using one of their examples, do you think T.holland is dearer than Tobey? or did ben afleck win the audience after the C.bale? or maybe the next actor to do wolverine will get the public's empathy quickly?
and you forgot to mention the situation of some of the franchises that these actors have assumed, such as the case of the C.baile that took a franchise 8 years after a film with 10% approval, and the H.ledger, did a great job, but that character was more than 11 years without appearing in some movie, but it is not a subject for this topic.

But coming back to talk about the cast of x-men
Of course, they do not have the same impact as the old cast, this is natural and would occur in any known franchise, be it x-men, avengers and etc, when you have an original/actor cast loved by the public and with good films over the years, and this cast is changed, and of course there will be resistance from the audience with the new cast,I, you, fox, marvel, WB, everyone knows that.
McAvoy is praised, Fassbender too, many critics praised the cast's choices, the issue and that they simply were not luck enough to debut in a good movie(sophie, tye, shipp, olivia and etc) . It's no excuse is a logical thing.

I think the other way around, most people just do not care about it, it's a minority who really want to know something before they go to see a movie. I, you, the guy who looks at forums, or pages about movies, the girl who looks at the rotten tomatoes, who accompanies these things, those seek to know before, but the majority of the public is not formed by these people, are people who go to theatre infrequently and and the maximum of research before is to see the trailer on youtube.

7 years is a bit of a stretch.. they said "a couple" or "a handful" they said they're first concentrated on the current slate.. which is only like.. 2 years until the current slate is up. and conveniently not revealing phase 4 until summer next year (same time we are suppose to see the sale become official)

In this forum the pro-disney group thinks that the people who love comics or loved the animated series are the biggest part of the cake.

So you think the majority of people that watch the X-men movies, especially the prequels, “go to the theatre infrequently?” Meaning X-men is probably one of the 2-3 movies they see that year?

The box office of the main X-men movies says otherwise. The percentage decline of the second (third, fourth, etc) weekend box office says otherwise.

Lies.

I find it dishonest to act like McAvoy and Fassbender are irrepleaceable when they have been coexisting with Stewart and McKellen until very recently.

The only one I could see that argument for is Jackman and he will be replaced at some point. Wolverine's too much of a money machine to let him go.

Hello... Jared Leto and (possibly) Joaquin Phoenix, after Ledger was also deemed as definitive.

Hello... the many James Bonds, of which the recent one had the highest grossing Bond film.

...I had to re-read that for a second because I read it as the recent Bond film being the highest grossing one, not the actor being the face of the highest grossing one. Then just looked and saw that Skyfall outgrossed Spectre...which I still haven't seen.
