Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - Part 12

From what Feige has said recently some have speculated it won't be until phase 5.

He has pretty much said whatever happens it will take a "handful of years" and certainly "won't impact the next 5 movies".

If that's truly the case, I may well have lost interest by then.......

I find it dishonest to act like McAvoy and Fassbender are irrepleaceable when they have been coexisting with Stewart and McKellen until very recently.

The only one I could see that argument for is Jackman and he will be replaced at some point. Wolverine's too much of a money machine to let him go.

Hello... Jared Leto and (possibly) Joaquin Phoenix, after Ledger was also deemed as definitive.

Hello... the many James Bonds, of which the recent one had the highest grossing Bond film.

Here's some insider info fresh off the presses: [BLACKOUT]McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence, Hoult, Sheridan, Turner, Shipp, Smith-McPhee, Helman, Munn, Condor, Hardy, Byrne, Tatum are all re-casts.[/BLACKOUT]

By the same friggin' studio. For people to think that a totally different studio, one that's had multiple tremendous successes in the genre would not *also* recast is just laughable.

Anything's possible sure, just like it's possible Kinberg will turn in a good script...but if past is prologue it's highly unlikely. Optimism is a great thing but when optimism has one hoping and/or thinking this movie makes Black Panther kind of numbers then be prepared to be disappointed.

So, Feige's comments are used to disprove people who think the X-Men and FF are showing up rebooted in MCU soon, but not for people thinking there are "secret" plans ongoing to merge Foxverse and MCU. If Fox and Disney are "business as usual" then neither scenario is plausible.

Yeah I'm surprised such a far-fetched proposal wasn't dismissed as a giant waste of time like when I posted reddit "spoilers" for this movie.:cwink:

At best I see this surpassing Apocalypse but still not reaching Days of Future Past numbers. The domestic box office for these keeps decreasing.

Well Apocalypse opened with 65 million? Could Dark PhoeniX actually go lower than that? A lot of Fox recent other blockbusters just underperformed, War of Apes, The Death Cure, Resurgence. Dark PhoeniX just simply doesn't have the goodwill, hype and momentum to suddenly perform better than Apocalypse. Even in the UK. Apocalypse barely out grossed First Class. The numbers were that bad. I also think the international market eXcept for China is slowing down, unless thee film is really popular. If they had Angelina instead of Jessica, there would be a difference but Jessica Chastain isn't really a big draw and she's pretty much the only main new face in this film.

Someone on here (can't remember who) also warned us that we should be careful about assuming the 3 month delay of the movie was for reshoots. The classic "Nothing to see here, folks!"

However, I'm fairly certain said forum member also entertained the rumor days earlier that the reshoots (which we shouldn't assume are happening...) are most likely to line up this Universe with the MCU.

:cwink:

So, Disney ending the CinemaCon presentation with an exclusive look at The Lion King, coming to theaters in July 2019. I hope Fox show some footage of DPh. At least a teaser with tiny footage. The fans deserve something positive and hopeful. Last few months were weird for X-Men fans.

eXtreme case
even if this is a female-driven movie, I wouldn't eXpect those numbers
because there's a lot more to satiate to garner those odds

Singer X-Men coming to the MCU is quite literally an amazing fantasy. It'll never happen

There is alot of amazing fantasy spectulations going on around how marvel will use X-MEN... and in that regard i don't think the this one is that much different.

In what regard? People are expecting X-men team members to get better screen time and/or roles in the MCU vs. Mystique and Magneto. That's not really that hard to accomplish ie. not some far fetched fantasy.

The other group is doing some pretty incredible mental gymnastics just so a separate studio can re-hire the cast of a different studio's X-men.

So I disagree, very much different scenarios.

I don't know about anyone else but I'd prefer to not have, like, five pages cut so if we can refrain from this kind of discussion that has nothing to do with this movie itself that would help out a great deal.

if those complaining about the discussion dont post anything related to Dark Phoenix, then their complain is pretty ironic. maybe there is nothing interesting to talk about Dark phoenix after all, dont u think?

what can we discuss? Mystique's new wig?

Well, how about Hans Zimmer? I've liked a good number of his previous scores, superhero or otherwise, so I wonder what vibe he'll bring to Dark Phoenix. Sure, that's been talked about before, but hey, not much else going on right now.

It's all speculated decision making.

The first person to be cast in the MCU could be magneto for all we know *gasp*. But that's more "amazing fantasy"

I think tomorrow we will have at least one new official photo of the movie.
they are going to have to show something in the cinemacon, practically everyone (disney, sony and etc) showed something of their future releases.

Am curious to whether they will decide to keep the Theme from X2,DOFP and Apocalypse or not.

I assume they could still pay to use it. It's just whether Zimmer tries to emulate that theme into his style or goes for something different with the film altogether

Yeah if they don't show anything or even mention it, that will be very confusing.

Yes, I think if they did not show anything about the film, unfortunately and why this movie will never be seen and they know it.
reshoots can not be used as an excuse not to show something

Well there's Also a separate thread for that.

I doubt it.

cant wait for Cinemacon to come and go and Fox not releasing anything.
Fox being Fox :funny:

Interesting to see if they release something. They are probably showing something at closed doors for sure.

My only fear with the delay is that they might lose Zimmer, and replace him with someone super generic like Giacchino.

I don't see why it should, its not like there is no footage to work on and they are just keeping Zimmer waiting.
