I think her career is better this way. She'll probably have 2-3 lines if she appeared in Dark Phoenix.

A farewell to that era after everyone (well I guess not Angel or Nightcrawler...) got a sendoff in DOFP. And then that whole era got what I'd argue is the second best superhero ever made paying its respects to their legacy.

At some point, it is time to move on.

I’m definitely ready to move on - especially after X-Men Apocalypse did a big dump on the franchise - but we have to wait till Dark Phoenix has delivered an epic sendoff sans Hellfire Club, Shi’ar, Imperial Guard, M’Kraan Crystal and just about everything else, but with Jennifer “I can’t name 5 X-Men” Lawrence as Mystique leading the team, Woo-frickin-hoo.

I’m not an ardent fan of Disney’s sprawling and ever expanding empire nor of every MCU release but right now I’m ready for a new vision of the X-Men and Marvel Studios seems like a good option.

Absolutely. The FoxVerse has to end. Its like a relationship. If you are no longer happy, you want to find someone better that deserves your attention and support.

It was good in the beginning, then it became problematic when Singer left X3 and it became worse with Origins, but you hoped for the best, and got First Class, The Wolverine, X4 and Deadpool in return which were all pleasing, but Apocalypse happened, Logan gave the X-Men a sad ending in the future, then all the films in development that just seems coming out of nowhere and aren't even that connected to previous films. While I didn't support this franchise just to see good Deadpool films. The X-Men deserve better.

why people think that general audiences are in love with OT cast, i have no idea.
nostalgia is a powerful drug for some fans.

The audience pop for the OT reunion was pretty good in the cinema. It was the closest Fox came to their Avengers assemble moment. Spirits were high in 2014. Fox failed to keep up the momentum. A short 4 years later and it's crazy to think how different the landscape is. Back then longevity was considered the biggest drawback for continuing with the original cast. Not really an issue in hindsight.

Its just wrong planning and wrong vision. Just like Apocalypse, Dark PhoeniX would suffer from this. People want the X-Men in the present with the more iconic cast.

Ellen Page (Shadowcat) and Dafnee Keen (X-23) would lend themselves very well to Deadpool's tone.

Edit: Sorry, I thought I was replying to a comment about the original cast being too serious in tone to cameo in Deadpool. I would point you back to Deadpool's Colossus because his is probably the best portrayal we've had for Colossus thus far but he still is a pretty serious superhero.

Wanted to post this earlier but I was afraid Deadpool would get bad reviews. Genre Films (Kinberg's studio) is credited for Deadpool 2 (as well as Logan). So yeah, I hope they know what to do this time.

How was DoFP a satisfying ending for OT? 2-3 mins at the end..

In Logan, the X-Men presumably died/injured off screen (we're not even sure), then Xavier and Logan dies..

New trilogy just plain sucks, not even focused on the X-Men just Xavier, Erik and Raven and when we got the OT it was Logan oriented zzz

We probably won't get MCU X-Men for another 5 years minimum..

A 2-3 second cameo of them and Hank closing the door bc Wade is complaining that the mansion is always empty. They don't talk, kind of head shaking/annoyed looking at him.. their backs are turned towards camera and Hank shuts the door. I remember seeing Peter, Scott, Jean, Xavier and Hank, not sure if Storm or Kurt were there.. it was pretty quick. Wade doesn't notice them.

The movie has too many breaking the 4th wall jokes in my opinion. I'd give it a 7.5-8/ 10.

It was totally satisfying to me (everyone got a happy ending). Also are all you fans going to come out enough to offset the difference of the other cast salaries? An original Trilogy movie wouldn't make any sense without Wolverine as Hugh is just completely done with the series. Maybe he's just away in Japan but if a Phoenix Saga happened without him it would be as hollow as one without Cyclops with the ot and what else could it be? X-factor movie could work (Cyc, Jean, Iceman, Angel, Storm and Beast) with Sinister being a villain but again would it be strange to have your framing device for most of the films just missing. The new cast don't have that same issue.

And while Apocalypse is a failure, it didn't ruin characters or the franchise the way TLS did. You want to know why 2019 will be the first year we'll have a movie with the classic X-Men members back and starring again? Because TLS killed them off for no good goddamn reason in an effort to set-up only spinoff, standalone prequels and Wolverine movies.

Some times it is best to leave things in the past. That may be true of the whole Fox-verse in a few years. But until then, I hope we get a good Dark Phoenix and maybe even X-Force.

unfortunately sometimes the homesickness is cruel, and does not let people see the reality of things.
I love the original cast,but they were in a complicated situation, TLS did such a great damage that we had to stay 8 years without a new movie from the main x-men team
this new trilogy and this new cast are in a much better situation,the damage that apocalypse caused is easy to fix

but DOFP takes advantage not only of being equally good and acclaimed by critics, but it made people return to take an interest in the x-men franchise, recovered the public that had lost itself over the years, finally managed to move from 500million in the box office, something that seemed impossible., gave a new life to the franchise, so that's why it's the best xmen movie for most people.
