Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Why do you think a bigger team equate better or exciting? After Endgame, what else can Marvel do to differentiate itself? Must it always be stuck on 'epic' for every single film? How is the next Avengers film or ensemble movie suppose to be 'more epic'? Pack it full of more characters? Even bigger battles? One of the problems with Infinity War were too many characters stuffed into it, contributing to a critical score much lower than 10 or so of Marvel's previous films. Infinity War still didn't match up to films like Civil War, Winter Soldier, Black Panther or even The Avengers which came out in 2012. Will Endgame repeat the same mistake? Only 6 characters in Infinity War had 10 minutes or more screen-time. The rest of that mega cast ranged from under 10 min to just 15 sec:

perfect answer

Funny that X3 has received a lot of criticism by inserting many characters and not giving screen time to them
and now the criticism is for not doing it again

I hope the realize either the space mission or the NYC fight online just like they did for DOFP. It’ll be a huge mistake on the studios part not to generate more hype/buzz for this film. I’ll take that instead of a 3rd trailer. With three mega movies coming before Dark Phoenix’s (Endgame, Aladdin, Det Pikachu) release we can not afford to have this movie be lost in the mix. I would love for this movie to do at least a Avengers 1 box office (hey don’t judge me lol). Since this the end I want it to go out with a bang on a series high note.

I think they're going to release the space travel scene, or a small part of it online
when the box office, I think that if you get close to DOFP would already be a good end to such an "old" series and a film that was so much attacked even by "fans."

the reception that was shown was wonderful
Most people liked it, it's very good, the hype around the movie is clearly improving
The only criticisms I saw were the same old people

There was nothing win about the panel. The footage was garbage.

You say that, but then the one bit of criticism you bring up is like 1% of the footage. Was that really how much it took for you to make that decision?

This was probably best though. The discussion was getting abit too positive and some people who have nothing nice to say (ever) were probably feeling left out.

I’m so over Jennifer’s Raven (not Mystique). When the MCU or if they decide to use Mystique I just want her to be a one time villain and move on. We don’t need another actress complaining, dumbing down or undoing what Rebecca made a great/popular character with what she was given.

the good reception to what was shown must have caused great despair in the haters of this movie.
can expect some new article this week saying how this movie will be the worst of the franchise

I think no one will be able to overcome the rebecca being mystique
she did such a good job, that I think any one after her would not have an easy way.
I think the MCU will not use the mystique character for a few years.

Sheridan is completely miscast as Scott. I don't understand why Singer didn't go for an Ansel Elgort type when casting young Scott. What we have now is the equivalent of someone like Dane Dehaan playing Captain America.

The other X-Men are relatively well-cast

He is a great actor, but he is Bryan's TYPE so I'm sure that played a role.

Yeah the young man on Runaways (I don’t know his name but he plays the son to James’ character) to me he was better candidate for Cyclops; tall and slim.

Personally i like what i have seen of Tye so far in this movie, so i ain't complaining.

Kinberg about Selene :

One of the characters is based on a character from the comic, and the other character is sort of an amalgam of different characters from the comic and inspired by different characters. The one that’s from the comic is Selene, which is a little bit of a nod to the Hellfire Club. It’s obviously a huge part of the original Dark Phoenix Saga in the comics, and it’s not something we really explore in this film. I wanted to have something that would at least be an homage to that, and it’s also a character I always thought was cool and cool-looking.

Selene is played by Kota Eberhardt in Dark Phoenix, and Simon Kinberg told CinemaBlend’s own Eric Eisenberg at WonderCon that although she’s a brand-new actress, he saw her audition tape and found her to be “really interesting.” Since Selene doesn’t have a lot of screen time in Dark Phoenix, the person who would play her needed to be “striking,” and Eberhardt was deemed the right woman for the job.

tye is a great actor
I'm hoping that it will be well used in DP
shipp is also a good actress but still improving, in love simon she was perfect, is an actress who depends very much on the quality of the script. her choice also has to do with a little of her similarity with halle, between the 3 who were apparently listed to take the role, she was the best choice.

I read a few things about her in the movie.
and apparently she has good action scenes
