Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Yeah, that was Singer not at his brightest.

And didn't they say they only included her

1) Because they realized they were a Horseman short after Xavier gets kidnapped, and

2) Because they googled her and found out she was a horseman once and she was cool looking.

Honestly I'm not the biggest fan of the Deadpool movies but she might have been better served in those.

Ugh. You're right, seriously wtf.

Yeah, Deadpool or a role in the X-Force film would bring her character more time and popularity with audiences. She would never get that through these films.

Inam so happy goddess storm has alot of stunts hand combat and new powers in the movie and she fights alot too and she is stronger than ever ⚡⚡⚡

The rationale for Psylocke being in Apocalypse was the worst I've heard for any character. Singer said...

"The sexual component, because cult leaders tend to sexualize their position and have sex with half the people in their cult. And the Psylocke character, who was a very bright character in the comic but is always looking for guidance and leadership, always trying to find the right guy, so she ends up with Apocalypse in this one.”

Horrible. Brings, the "cool looking comment" up quite a bit. Isn't Selene just a replacement for Psylocke here cause Munn said no?

So...Did Apocalypse f*** Psylocke? :o

WTH?

Storm always gets cool power displays and action. That's never been the problem with her in these movies.
Admittedly it’s back of the list, but Storm could be getting Ragnarok Thor scale moves. There are of course more important things that need to be fixed about future versions of Storm first through.

I’m just hoping for a decent film in spite of a couple wasted characters and major comic deviations. It doesn’t justify these flaws, but even the best films in the series are guilty of them. I kind of expect it of an X-Men film now. Hopefully Marvel will change that, which brings me to my next point; if it’s undoubtedly being rebooted for the MCU going forward, what does it hurt to give this film a shot? If it sucks, it’s over and done with and we’ll get a fresh start. If it’s good, a film series mostly all of us have loved and grown up with ends on a high note. I just don’t see the harm.

That’s pretty much where I’m at. If it’s better than Apocalypse, then I’m good.

With three mega movies coming before Dark Phoenix’s (Endgame, Aladdin, Det Pikachu) release we can not afford to have this movie be lost in the mix. I would love for this movie to do at least a Avengers 1 box office (hey don’t judge me lol).

The only way this makes that kinda money is if they trick the general audience it's a MCU movie.

FOX have done what they always do. they cast potential up and comers. none of the FC cast were well known back in 2011 (except kevin bacon). yes people talk about fassbender, mcavoy and Lawrence but no one really knew them back then. it was the direction their careers went after that movie that helped increase them into being more known. although i don't think that means they were not gonna make a sequel to FC just because of that.

Tye Sheridan for example did apocalypse and then was the lead in Ready Player One.

For the most part did people know who hugh jackman was back in 2000? everyone knew Patrick Stewart. maybe McKellen perhaps. berry... well... she was in the Flintstones movie?
We're seeing how something like that can backfire. Jennifer Lawrence wasn't a name when she was cast in First Class. Now the geek community is tired of her and scolds these films for continuing to utilize that character. Sometimes casting an unknown is a double edged sword.

Totally agree with all of this! I’m in the same boat as you.

I’m so over Jennifer’s Raven (not Mystique). When the MCU or if they decide to use Mystique I just want her to be a one time villain and move on. We don’t need another actress complaining, dumbing down or undoing what Rebecca made a great/popular character with what she was given.

I liked Rebecca as Mystique but I would love a more comic book accurate Mystique (who isn't naked all the time, and doesn't have scales like a reptile).

I think they need to start thinking about using CGI more to make people's skin blue. Use light makeup and prosthetics on the set and enhance it afterwards. If we can create CGI costumes and full blown characters we can paint people blue using CGI.

Shawn Madden @Wonder-Kahhhhhnnnn‏ @neddamnwahs
From what I heard, Zimmer's score is excellent. (Shocker!)

It'll be disappointing if it doesn't go duhduhduhduhduhduhduhduhdudhduhduhduh...and so forth.

The most interesting aspect of this all is even with the screen testing, trailers, and sneak peeks, we still have no idea what the final film will look like from an editing and tone aspect.

Lee Smith is known to have multiple cuts of a film, especially in screen testing until the favorite wins out. I'm impressed with his track record so far.

Beast and Mystique take on more "human" non-blue appearances the minute they step into the X-Mansion. Why would they do this? It makes no sense.

The fact that this is a big takeaway from the panel/footage is encouraging. The non-blue appearances of these characters is such a small issue in the grand scheme.

Yeahhh.....have to stop you on that one. In no way did storm look "cool" flying up that elevator in X1. She looked ridiculous.

-Her main action scene in X2 really is sitting in the X-jet. I wouldn't say she was dynamic. She literally stood in the same spot during all her action scenes which basically amounted to lighting strikes or wind.

-In X3 they tried to make her more combat style but it simply didn't hit. The choreography was wonky. All shots of her flying looked ridiculous.

-And it was the same way with her small screen-time in Days of Future Past. They boosted the vfx of her powers but her flying/hovering looked no better than X3.

-Apocalypse was nothing but goofy sloppiness. Again, her flying was not believable. It looked exactly like she was being swung on a wire. You compare that with other characters such as Iron man who actually appear to fly in the sky. And her power displays were nothing memorable- a few lightening strikes and slightly blowing a car. She virtually had no "action" since she did very little in that movie other than stand around following apocalypse.

Point being....she has never looked good flying in any of these movies. It's something I don't understand because Singer has done flying scenes before with Superman Returns that look way more dynamic and believable. So he's capable of doing them. Nor has she had any dynamic action choreography. It's one of the things that make these movies look dated instead of modern in comparison to other superhero films like Avengers. At least with Dark Phoenix they're expanding her power-set by showing she can do more than just lightening strikes and wind or being hung on a wire.

Kinberg on Selene:

Kinberg picked Selene because it’s a cool and cool-looking character. And so the first thing he does is to make the character look virtually unrecognizable to her comic counterpart. An -ino. Good job Kinby!

Now that the Marvel licensing agreements have come to an end, I would love it if someone leaked what was apparently completely nonsensical documents.

"Go ahead and make Selene unrecognizable with another character's power set. And feel free to amalgamize poor Red Lotus. But if you so much as change one hair on Negasonic Teenage Warhead's head and you SOBs better be sending back a frikkin living planet!"

Why are you guys trusting Jeremy Conrad? He said Deadpool 2 was horrible, Venom wouldn't be in the movie until the very end of the movie or Avengers Endgame title wasn't the title that it's Avengers Annihilation. He’s a old white man that can’t make a comeback so he spreading fake rumours and ****

STOP POSTING HIS TWEETS!
