Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Final trailer completely underwhelmed me and I think it only exists because of the whole International trailer fiasco.
Really?
Made the movie pop like never before. Post-production paid off.

I think the visuals are great (VFX have improved amazingly) it just that most of the content we've already seen from the third international trailer.

I suppose the benefit they're not showing every beat of action. Based on the spoilers I have heard there is a lot of action not seen in the trailers.

I hope there are some surprises left in the final movie. I really want to like this movie but nothing is wowing me or making me go "I want to see that!". Even the mystery of Lamar Johnson's role went nowhere. Like why bother saying he was cast when he's just a random student of no significance. I expect the same for Dazzler, a 3 second appearance. Lol

I thought he might be playing the younger Bishop!!1
I said this a few months ago, if they could wear the costumes in the new third act because bottom line is, it's still a super hero/ comic book movie. The Jim Lee ones were great and we will never see them in action. Such a dumb move. This is why there is zero hype for this movie. NO costumes, NO villain with an identifiable name. MAGNETO AGAIN. Another watered down adaptation that is supposed to be "faithful".. just hurts my heart lol
Its a grounded movie just like Logan!!1

But she’s for sure going to be something people will talk about, in a great way.

Also, I gave it a second chance and I’m not as underwhelmed by it. I just don’t see the necessity for it whatsoever.

But that Nightcrawler sequence tho! It’s come a long way and it gonna be great.

So Spidey Far From Home has moved up three days from July 5th to July 2nd. Presumably this is to take advantage of the 4th of July holiday which falls on that Thursday.

Not that Dark Phoenix would still be a thing by either date. Apocalypse on its 4th week of release only made $5Mil. For the optimists among us, even the leggier DOFP on its 4th week of release was at $9Mil.

You don't see the necessity for a Dark Phoenix remake or ? The way I see it Apocalypse shouldn't have been made. Sinister/Marauders/Morlocks/Mutant Massacre was a safe route. Storm would have had a lot to do with an antagonist in Callisto. Scott and Jean vs Sinister. They just didn't seem too interested in developing the big three at all but instead gave the spotlight to Erik again and then Charles, also having Raven once against shying away from her blue mutant form. What happened to Logan telling Charles to find the three. I just can't give a **** about Scott, Jean and Storm in their current iteration. The inconsistency is at level 9000. I could go on and on about Fox's outdated production style and idiotic decision to have an X-Men with Mystique as their leader. Just think about Pepper or Happy leading the Avengers. Wtf right?

It would get $2 million for its 4th weekend.

I didn't catch the Nightcrawler bit the first time around, but you're right it looks awesome! Very excited to see that final train fight.

Maybe no one will agree with me on this but hear me out...

Maybe Fox should've made the Phoenix Saga instead of the Dark Phoenix Saga?

Have Jean get the Phoenix Force. But instead of immediately turning her evil have the X-Men get put in the middle of a galactic civil war with the Shi'ar Empire. Take them into space for the whole movie. Have Xavier fall in love with Lilandra. Put the Starjammers in there and make Corsair Cylcop's and Havoc's real dad. Have Jean use the Phoenix Force to save all of reality and repair the M'Kraan Crystal.

I honestly think that would've been a cooler movie than what we are going to get.

If there was going to be a sequel for this, eXpect Quicksilver to lead the X-Men!

Thats a big sudden jump to take with no hints of alien outer space features in previous Xmen movies.

Dark phoenix chapter was fine being chosen to be the main story for this movie, just needed to slowly but firmly introduce alien concepts. I think they should have basically followed Man Of Steels story structure. First 15 minutes opening sequence is set on a ShiAr home planet as the phoenix force is destroying it and the ShiAr with Lilanadra are fighting against it - similar to Krypton, displaying wacky creatures, costumes and alien architecturel design. Phoenix force eats a star, kills lot of ShiAr and runs away towards earth looking for a new host, with Lilandra following. Then basically the story picks up where Kinberg starts, with the space mission. Rest of the story happens on earth, fast forward to the end where the ShiAr arrive to destroy the phoenix as revenge, and fight the Xmen in a big city like Metropolis in MoS.

Its interesting if Kinberg wasn't tempted to add another X-Man in the film. X3 was overstuffed while Apocalypse reintroduced Cyke, Jean, Storm, Kurt (and Jubes). Then used Psylocke and Angel as villains. I wonder if it had something to do with the budget? the casting sheets teased more characters.

Necessity for this final trailer....

I was really hoping this trailer would be mind-blowing and end all that negative chatter about the many negative rumors surrounding the film but geesh!! It was the same if not worse then the 2nd international trailer..hopefully Disney re-cuts a new trailer or just adds some money shots to this one for the Avengers ENDGame premiere

I loved the second international trailer by the way

It's not a bad trailer. The problem is it's not a great trailer either. I honestly think this might end up being a middle-of-the-road movie, which is an improvement over Apocalypse, but given the pedigree of "Dark Phoenix" and the lack of hype... it is going to flop.

yes, it's just a good trailer
and for a final trailer it's not cool just to be "good", it had to be great, and it was not, they chose to hide great things but this movie is not in a situation of hiding things.
I wanted a new trailer in the hope and in the certainty that there would be a lot of new thing to create hype, but this did not exist and came a trailer that just ends up creating the sensation of a slight frustration and for the general public can pass a view that the movie there is nothing much, the forecast of 40-50m debut at the box office with this trailer becomes more real ....

the international trailer works better than the final trailer

Perhaps it was like Thor 3 when it was a two parter and shi'ar was involved. But then Kinberg changed his narrative to gritty like Logan and some other stuff but I forget what bc i filter out bs.
its all b**** on his part. He's a producer and says whatever comes to his mind to make his movie looks as cool as some recent hits.

Its just impossible a movie is like Logan and Thor Ragnarok at the same time. Who on his healthy mind would say something like that? :funny:

the battle of new york was very well received, why not show some of that in the final trailer?
the film has aliens for the first time in the franchise, why not give a slight taste of their actual form in the trailer?
the character of jessica fights against all xmen, why not quickly show her fighting some xmen in the trailer?

is a movie that has / had a whole possibility to create hype the little more the team chooses not to do this, I think this is so stupid, they prefer to show great things in events with restricted audience than to show this to the general public, sad to see this franchise walking towards its end creating new mistakes and contributing to a failure.

They messed up by not releasing international trailer 2 as official trailer #2, then when they saw everyone saying how it was much better they just formed a watered down version to release yesterday. And without any of the intriguing and exciting stuff like cyclops optic blasts, jean grey as a kid, magneto with that cool shot of him manipulating guns to fire ineffectively at an enemy
