Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Not really.

The overwhelming majority of the original third act took place at the UN meeting... on earth. At the very end, Jean flies into shallow space and sacrifices herself to destroy the incoming fleet of alien ships. The new third act also involves her sacrificing herself in shallow space, only here she’s killing Chastain. I highly doubt the new space sequence is much shorter than the one featured in the original third act.

Because y’all are wondering...

A lot of people here and elsewhere were complaining that the suits looked "too cosplay, too bulky, and too cheap" for over 2 years. Now all of a sudden many of those same people are saying they want the suits back and how the movies should have stuck with them. Extreme cognitive dissonance going on with some people.
I think it's more so the fact that those suits look Oscar-nom worthy compared to what we're getting in this movie. They weren't perfect but the designs themselves were a huge step up from previous films. They just needed refinement... Not whatever we got in this movie

I'd love to hear these publications ask Kinberg and Hutch how long it took them to re "shoot [this] new third act."

Well I doubt they will because they made up the part about the act in space, that’s for sure. I doubt anyone will admit the reshoot length. I hear it was a month and a half. September-Mid October, with a month and a half of set construction, prep, and stunt and choreography training before photography started up again. Generally with principal photography shoots, they don’t lump the latter in with the official shoot but rather pre-production so it’s hard to say if anyone does officially talk about it, will they say 3 months or a month and a half.

Emma Frost about Jean Grey/Phoenix in Utopia:

"Which brings me to: Jean Grey. The most gifted psychic I'd ever encountered -- I'd never say it to the cow's face but it was true and one day I upset her so much that Jean killed me. The Phoenix killed me.

The Phoenix was Jean. Jean wasn't the Phoenix. There's a difference. And I made the Phoenix mad. So I was cleansed"

I feel like this is the direction the film is taking.

Either number would certainly be a big jump from the "2 1/2 weeks to 3 weeks" narrative that we've been hearing about on these boards.

Burn, baby. Burn!
The burn effect looks very similar to Ghost Rider's penance stare (In this case, penance touch).
For me, it's very positive and looks cool.
In this level, Jean's become more entity than human. So she can choose who deserves to live and who has to die.
About the Phoenix effect: Idk yet. It's not bad at all. Looks powerful. But the fiery effect, like Apocalypse, could be better in so many ways.
These seem's much like X2 plus X3 effects, but sparkly. More energy than fire.
I can't wait to see Phoenix in full/true form.

I get that the red/maroon she wears is a symbol of her going dark and a play off the colors of the DP costume from the comic however I wished the costume designer would have gave her a look similar to the Black Queen. I would have given her a black leather pants, heels, corset/vest to offset that jacket. And leather was a big trend back in the 90s (I forget if it was early or late seeing that I was a kid). I just think leather gives people an edge it’s mysterious and it shows how Jean has evolved into the character letting her sexuality go bringing out the sexy vixen before going completely Dark. And Sophie is a stunning woman who can make it work.

I hope there’s a story behind the red jacket, Maybe it belonged to her mother and she took it from her childhood home. I dunno. I just don’t want another X3 situation when Famke is in a whole costume with no explanation where or why she is wearing it.

I think that jacket one would make a great dvd/bluray cover, but overall the retouching and design for this campaign has been very sloppy. As someone else said though, thats kind of been across the board for movies this past year.

Beautiful :hrt::hrt:

I won’t be surprised if there’s a similar layout for the english character posters.

I honestly don’t mind the trench coat look, it’s nicely constructed and and nice compromise to have it feel “real world” like. It’s the trousers they paired with it that piss me off lol. I won’t would have had her in black trousers, but then she’s literally Wanda :funny:
Nevertheless Sophie looks stunning!!!

I still want to know who this is. If you blow the image up it almost looks like metal plates on the arm. Then in the 2nd image the fire reflects off his hand...Colossus!!

Hmm, it does look like him.

I was going to say that maybe one of the team wears a partly metal suit to protect themselves from Phoenix's powers, but looking at what was done to Magneto's assault against her, I realise that sounds silly.

Very odd to have JLaw doing press on Graham Norton, since she is only in the first act.

You'd think they'd get Sophie especially with GoT final series on TV right now...

I mean it does say “possible” appearance. But I do think it’s more than likely. James an Jen were great when they appeared on Graham Norton for Apocalypse. But I think that’s about it for JLaw in terms of promoting the film. She’s been absent doing any of the other stuff. Plus shes prepping to shoot her new movie in mid June, so makes sense. She will probably attend the two big premieres in London and LA.

As for Sophie. Poor girl has been doing double duties. She’s never done an interview on Graham, and come to think of it, Fallon too. She’ll be everywhere else though for sure.

No one’s protecting themselves here. This is Jean’s first outburst and hasn’t yet gone “dark.” The scene is a party scene in the forest outside of the mansion to celebrate the success of the space mission. I don’t think it’s Colossus. It’s likely a partier in a striped shirt.
